George Michael

Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou (born 25 June 1963), better known by his stage name George Michael, is an English singer, songwriter and record producer. Michael rose to fame during the 1980s and 1990s with his style of post-disco dance-pop. He has also been characterised as a blue-eyed soul singer, although his material draws more from middle-of-the-road pop than soul music.

As one of the world's best-selling music artists, Michael has sold more than 80 million records worldwide. His 1987 debut solo album, Faith, has on its own sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. Michael has garnered seven number one singles in the UK and eight number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked Michael the 40th most successful artist on the Billboard Hot 100 Top All-Time Artists list.

Michael has won numerous music awards throughout his 30-year career, including three Brit Awards—winning Best British Male twice, four MTV Video Music Awards, four Ivor Novello Awards, three American Music Awards, and two Grammy Awards from eight nominations.

George Ezra

George Ezra Barnett (born 7 June 1993) is an English singer-songwriter. After releasing two EPs, Did You Hear the Rain? in October 2013 and Cassy O' in March 2014, Ezra rose to prominence with the release of his hit single "Budapest", which reached the top 10 in numerous countries around the world, reaching number one in Austria, Belgium, New Zealand and the Czech Republic. His previous work was with singer/songwriter Jordan Grey.

Ezra's debut studio album Wanted on Voyage, which was released on 30 June 2014, reached number one in the UK and the top ten in seven other countries. It was also the third best-selling album of 2014 in the UK.Zane Lowe, one of the most popular BBC Radio 1 DJs, called him "one of the most compelling and powerful new vocalists around.".

Early life

Ezra grew up in Hertford in Hertfordshire, attending Bengeo Primary School and then Simon Balle School. He moved to Bristol in 2011 to study at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute there. Both of his parents are teachers.

You Were Mine

"You Were Mine" is a song recorded by American country music group Dixie Chicks. It was released in December 1998 as the fourth single from the album Wide Open Spaces. The song hit number one on the U.S. Country singles chart, spending two weeks there in March 1999. It also placed 34th on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop singles chart, and reached third place on Canada's country music chart.

History

The song was written by 1995 by two of the founders of the original Dixie Chicks band, the Erwin sisters, who were not strangers to writing music and performing (they are now known as Martie Maguire and Emily Robison). Robison wrote most of the song, and Maguire supplied the bridge. It is a very autobiographical song, about the breakup of Robison's and Maguire's parents and their subsequent divorce. In one interview, when asked about it, Robison said that their parents generally "sweep it under the rug", saying, "They know it's about them, but [whispers] we never talk about it. [laughs] They don't want to bring it up because they're still weird around each other. My dad doesn't want to think it's about him, because it doesn't make him look very good, and my mom thinks she's moved on."

Wish You Were Mine

"Wish You Were Mine" is a song by English producer Philip George. It samples the Stevie Wonder song "My Cherie Amour" and "Show Me Love" by Robin S. It was released on 28 December 2014 as a digital download in the United Kingdom through 3 Beat Productions. The song peaked to number 2 on the UK Singles Chart, remaining there for three consecutive weeks.

A music video to accompany the release of "Wish You Were Mine" was first released onto YouTube on 25 December 2014 at a total length of three minutes and twenty-five seconds. In the video, George plays as a bus driver, a policeman and as a shopkeeper.
