On our way up along Route 66 coming from the California desert, heading towards Las Vegas and then to Area 51 in the Nevada desert, we come across some burned out, spooky, creepy and scary abandoned places. Some former homes, former businesses often entire abandoned towns! All mysteriously burned and/or destroyed and decaying.....seemingly left to rot in the scorching desert sun! It's a vast spread of 150 miles in ANY direction of Area 51....what we refer to as the "Area 51 Triangle". One strange and unusual stretch of desert!
Here is a look at some bizarre, abandoned, burned out and just plain spooky places we come across in our desert travels! ~Kenneth St. King

The Loneliest Road in America, custom designed road sign from NvDOT, did see one heading West bound US Route 50...
sad, real sad people.
refueling at the Fallon, Nevada lasted all the way to Delta, Utah.
gas price was between $3.67 - $3.82 gallon, my ford fiesta is rated 39 MPG on the highway conditions; however, I got average 44 MPG. highest was 51 MPG! down hill!
my Journey to the West there and back continued to interstate 70.
Utah was just like the Loneliest Road in America, very enjoyable.
once I hit the Colorado, forget it, Betsy was gasping for more oxygen!
depends on which source you get your info, the Life Magazine says the Loneliest Road in America on US Route 50, begins at Ely and ends at Fernley; however, US Route 50 does not go through the biggest community, Fernley, on Loneliest road in America.
one must take an Alternate, 50A, route to Fernley, NV.
all the towns that I went through, max speed limit was 25MPH and the pedestrians had the right-of-way at the cross walk!!!
prepare to stop! at all times and don't speed...

refueling at the Fallon, Nevada lasted all the way to Delta, Utah.
gas price was between $3.67 - $3.82 gallon, my ford fiesta is rated 39 MPG on the highway conditions; however, I got average 44 MPG. highest was 51 MPG! down hill!
my Journey to the West there and back continued to interstate 70.
Utah was just like the Loneliest Road in America, very enjoyable.
once I hit the Colorado, forget it, Betsy was gasping for more oxygen!
depends on which source you get your info, the Life Magazine says the Loneliest Road in America on US Route 50, begins at Ely and ends at Fernley; however, US Route 50 does not go through the biggest community, Fernley, on Loneliest road in America.
one must take an Alternate, 50A, route to Fernley, NV.
all the towns that I went through, max speed limit was 25MPH and the pedestrians had the right-of-way at the cross walk!!!
prepare to stop! at all times and don't speed...
