A grey, dull windy afternoon at Manchester Airport. A typical "Manchesterish" day, a strong gusty wind bringing in frequent rain showers on and off all afternoon. Hard to believe it was early August.

The Virgin A340-600 at the beginning is a new regular at Manchester, it now operates on alternate days between Manchester and Las Vegas. I was hoping it'd be a little bit late and depart close up, but it didn't. None the less got plenty of other close ups!

I wanted to take my new camera for a spin at planespotting and where better than my favourite location on the southside of Manchester airport near runway 23L. The runway re-opens in the afternoon at 1pm so I was there, ready and waiting for departures to start flowing. Unfortunately the weather wasn't really co-operating. It was very windy, a strong, gusty northerly wind bought frequent rain showers and really cold wind. Only 9 degrees in mid May! All of this video apart from the American 767 was filmed with my new camera, I used the old one to film the American because it was raining more then.
I've included flight number and destination of every flight :)

Manchester Airport-bound plane aborts landing due to 70mph winds
A plane aborted its landing at Manchester Airport after winds of up to 70mph swept across the North West.
Simon Whittaker, originally from Cheadle, posted his footage on Facebook saying: "Monarch A320 drifts off the centre line in cross winds at manchester airport and goes around."
Mr Whittaker, who used to fly planes himself, was on his way for a coffee at the Airport Hotel Pub when he noticed how the wind was affecting the incoming flights and began filming.
He said the weather was "absolutely treacherous" but that the pilot seemed "in control of the plane throughout the aborted landing". He said the winds were so strong that it was a challenge even keeping the camera steady.
Five planes were diverted from the airport on Sunday as a result of the high winds.
A spokeswoman said three planes were diverted to East Midlands Airport including two Monarch flights and another two went to Birmingham Airport.
The severe weather caused a roof on shops to be blown off in Greater Manchester, thousands of homes were left without power and trees were brought down.

A beautiful summers morning at Manchester Airport on Tuesday 23rd June 2015. Decided to head up to Manchester for the day to see what was around, I did actually check the wind direction and guessed that the aircraft would actually be taking off in the opposite direction from RWY23L but it would be hard to call for definite with a northerly wind. However when we arrived to see arrivals coming down on 05R, which I had never seen before we decided to go and do some exploring to find a new spot to get these fantastic touch down shots!

Absolutely beautiful morning, perfect for filming and what a perfect vantage point to catch some morning arrivals!
Filmed between 06:30 & 10:30.
After 10:30 the second runway closes for a few hours until 13:00. So in this time we went to get some breakfast and come back for when the runway reopens. Upon our return the runway direction had changed and the aircraft were departing from RWY23L. So look out for the second video taken this day at Manchester including some incredible take off shots of all the afternoon traffic including the A380!

A brand new filming location and an all new perspective, different from anywhere else I've filmed. This is taken from the bottom end of RWY23L near the RWY05R threshold which is the perfect spot for catching the aircraft rotate. A perspective I've not yet caught quite a good as here. We chose a perfect day to explore this new location, in the morning they were arriving on RWY05R so we could witness the touchdowns first hand, but by lunchtime a wind direction change meant a runway swap onto the 23's so we then got the departures in the afternoon! Best of both all on the same day!

Manchester Airport (IATA: MAN, ICAO: EGCC), is an international airport at Ringway, Manchester, England. Manchester 
i/ˈmæntʃɛstər/ is a city and metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester, England with an estimated population of 498,800 in 2010. Manchester lies within one of the United Kingdom's largest urban areas; the Greater Manchester Urban Area which has a population of 2.2 million. The demonym of Manchester is Mancunian and the local authority is Manchester City Council.
Manchester is situated in the south-central part of North West England, fringed by the Cheshire Plain to the south and the Pennines to the north and east. The recorded history of Manchester began with the civilian settlement associated with the Roman fort of Mamucium, which was established in c. 79 AD on a sandstone bluff near the confluence of the rivers Medlock and Irwell. Historically, most of the city was a part of Lancashire, although areas south of the River Mersey were in Cheshire. I wanted to take my new camera for a spin at planespotting and where better than my favourite location on the southside of Manchester airport near runway 23L. The runway re-opens in the afternoon at 1pm so I was there, ready and waiting for departures to start flowing. Unfortunately the weather wasn't really co-operating. It was very windy, a strong, gusty northerly wind bought frequent rain showers and really cold wind. Only 9 degrees in mid May! All of this video apart from the American 767 was filmed with my new camera, I used the old one to film the American because it was raining more then.
I've included flight number and destination of every flight :)

A plane aborted its landing at Manchester Airport after winds of up to 70mph swept across the North West.
Simon Whittaker, originally from Cheadle, posted his footage on Facebook saying: "Monarch A320 drifts off the centre line in cross winds at manchester airport and goes around."
Mr Whittaker, who used to fly planes himself, was on his way for a coffee at the Airport Hotel Pub when he noticed how the wind was affecting the incoming flights and began filming.
He said the weather was "absolutely treacherous" but that the pilot seemed "in control of the plane throughout the aborted landing". He said the winds were so strong that it was a challenge even keeping the camera steady.
Five planes were diverted from the airport on Sunday as a result of the high winds.
A spokeswoman said three planes were diverted to East Midlands Airport including two Monarch flights and another two went to Birmingham Airport.
The severe weather caused a roof on shops to be blown off in Greater Manchester, thousands of homes were left without power and trees were brought down.

A beautiful summers morning at Manchester Airport on Tuesday 23rd June 2015. Decided to head up to Manchester for the day to see what was around, I did actually check the wind direction and guessed that the aircraft would actually be taking off in the opposite direction from RWY23L but it would be hard to call for definite with a northerly wind. However when we arrived to see arrivals coming down on 05R, which I had never seen before we decided to go and do some exploring to find a new spot to get these fantastic touch down shots!

A brand new filming location and an all new perspective, different from anywhere else I've filmed. This is taken from the bottom end of RWY23L near the RWY05R threshold which is the perfect spot for catching the aircraft rotate. A perspective I've not yet caught quite a good as here. We chose a perfect day to explore this new location, in the morning they were arriving on RWY05R so we could witness the touchdowns first hand, but by lunchtime a wind direction change meant a runway swap onto the 23's so we then got the departures in the afternoon! Best of both all on the same day!

A slight touch of frost on the ground and layer of fine mist in the air, met with a perfect golden sunrise created some lovely scenes for filming. This video includes many RWY23L close up departures, that is until the runway shuts, then there's a few shots towards the end of the video of other traffic using RWY23R for departure.

This aircraft type is not usually scheduled to Manchester but for the Last week Qatar has been sending the 787 on one of the 2 daily flights instead of the regular Airbus A330. There was also an Etihad A340-600 but the rain got too heavy for me.

Plane spotting at Manchester Airport (MAN/EGCC) on April 16th 2015, including Singapore Airlines, American Airlines, Aurigny, KLM and more!
A Jet2 pilot said there was a 'hole' in the runway, so takeoffs had to stopped periodically while the runway was inspected. Nothing was found.
Also, I will be flying to Barcelona on Sunday from Prestwick, so I will have some more inflight videos from that flight (and the one back). I will also be flying from London Stansted to Glasgow soon after my return flight, so I will hopefully have some spotting videos from Glasgow and Prestwick!

In August 2015, I flew from Manchester (England) to Perth (Australia) via Dubai (United Arab Emirates). The flight times were 6 hours and 50 minutes (MAN - DXB), 2 hours stopover at DXB, and then 9 hours and 50 minutes (DXB - PER), making a total journey time around 19 hours from the UK to Australia - this is a comparatively easy and efficient way to fly between the countries. In August 2015, I flew from Manchester (England) to Perth (Australia) via Dubai (United Arab Emirates). The flight times were 6 hours and 50 minutes (MAN - DXB)...
In August 2015, I flew from Manchester (England) to Perth (Australia) via Dubai (United Arab Emirates). The flight times were 6 hours and 50 minutes (MAN - DXB), 2 hours stopover at DXB, and then 9 hours and 50 minutes (DXB - PER), making a total journey time around 19 hours from the UK to Australia - this is a comparatively easy and efficient way to fly between the countries. I flew Economy Class with Emirates in an Airbus A380, on a Qantas ticket. This film is a montage of clips and written comments that summarise the flight I had between Manchester and Dubai, flight number QF8018.
In summary, this was a good flight, with a good level of service. I enjoyed the on-board entertainment very much, this helped the flight to go quickly. The food was tasty and I enjoyed it also. Unfortunately, I found my seat (47A) to be a little too claustrophobic and cramped when the person in front of me put their seat back, and this spoiled my flight a little.

In August 2015, I flew from Manchester (England) to Perth (Australia) via Dubai (United Arab Emirates). A plane aborted its landing at Manchester Airport after winds of up to 70mph swept across the North West.
Simon Whittaker, originally from Cheadle, posted his footage on Facebook saying: "Monarch A320 drifts off the centre line in cross winds at manchester airport and goes around."
Mr Whittaker, who used to fly planes himself, was on his way for a coffee at the Airport Hotel Pub when he noticed how the wind was affecting the incoming flights and began filming.
He said the weather was "absolutely treacherous" but that the pilot seemed "in control of the plane throughout the aborted landing". He said the winds were so strong that it was a challenge even keeping the camera steady.
Five planes were diverted from the airport on Sunday as a result of the high winds.
A spokeswoman said three planes were diverted to East Midlands Airport including two Monarch flights and another two went to Birmingham Airport.
The severe weather caused a roof on shops to be blown off in Greater Manchester, thousands of homes were left without power and trees were brought down.
