Rediscovering Youth on the Colorado River
In 1970, Forest Woodward’s father, Doug Woodward, led a trip down the Colorado River because water had always given him “a sense of wonder.” When Forest was born in 1986, Doug wrote his son a poem with the words “you always remember the path that leads you back to the important places.” In this short film produced by Gnarly Bay, Forest seeks to re-create his father's original trip down the river. By observing his father back in this important place, he hopes to learn some of life’s lessons. Seeing him “not just alive but living again,” Forest finds that “there is a hell of a lot more to come down the river” and that “the joy is in the journey

Entire Colorado river turns YELLOW
Entire Colorado river turns YELLOW after one million gallons of toxic waste leaks from disused gold mine - but authorities insist there's no danger
Environmental Protection Agency wanted to pump out contaminated water from Gold King Mine near Durango
Coordinator says much more water than expected was behind dirt and it began leaking out before surging into river
Contaminated Cement Creek leads to Animas River, which flows into New Mexico and joins Colorado River in Utah
River turns orange with contaminants such as iron and zinc, though experts don't know exactly what is in the water
Spill not believed to affect drinking water, though fears remain for wildlife as much courses downstream
Preliminary tests show that the acidity of the river has increased 100-fold since the spill.
A federal mine cleanup crew unleashed a million-gallon mine toxic waste spill that sent a plume of orange-ish muck down a river in southwest Colorado on Thursday.
The US Environmental Protection Agency said that a cleanup team was working with heavy equipment Wednesday morning to secure an entrance to the Gold King Mine. Workers instead released an estimated 1 million gallons of mine waste into Cement Creek.
Contaminants coursed down the creek, which runs from around Silverton, Colorado, into the Animas River before flowing into the San Juan River in New Mexico and joining the Colorado River in Utah.
Officials say that the water, believed to now contain high amounts of iron and zinc, does not pose a threat to drinking water. However, fears remain that it may kill fish and other animals after the river's acidity increased 100-fold.

This painting - Finding Gold in Estes Park was completed in my studio and sold through the Broadmoor Galleries.
My wife and I saw this beautiful river while at an Oil Painters of America art show in Estes Park, Colorado.
We lived at the base of the Greenhorn Mountains for 12 years in Rye, Colorado and Colorado scenery remains one of my favorite subjects.
Learn from impressionist Bill Inman as he shares a fast motion version of his 4 hour video that shows every brushstroke of his painting.
Bill has been a full time artist for more than 20 years and sold his first painting in a professional gallery at the age of 17 while still in high school.
He is a recipient of the Congressional Art Award, has been featured in Southwest Art Magazine and has his work in collections around the world.
He teaches a 3 hour painting class twice a month in his studio and periodic workshops.
Enjoy!

Seeing him “not just alive but living again,” Forest finds that “there is a hell of a lot more to come down the river” and that “the joy is in the journey.”

Supai Tour Run to the Colorado River and Back - Fast Trip to Havasupai
The area from the Hulapai Hilltop to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, Supai, is one of the coolest places you will ever see. We wanted to do a fast trip down to the bottom of the canyon - and still enjoy the area including the magnificent waterfalls. Starting from the Hulapai Hilltop we ran down to the Supai village and then to the campground and back up to the village on the afternoon of our first day. The next we explored the canyons to the bottom at the terminus at the Colorado River. We then ran back up and out of the canyon to the Hulapai Hilltop so we could run the Grand Canyon's Rim to Rim to Rim the next day.

Colorado River Boat Ride
Take a boat ride with us up the Colorado River from Willow Beach in Arizona up to the Hoover Dam bypass bridge. We even stop along the way to see some bighorn sheep.
We pulled into the "bat cave" thank goodness there were no bats!
The river was pretty calm that day, so the cam stabilizer worked pretty good.
We also included some of our still pictures between clips.
Thanks for taking a ride with us!
