The storm started at around 0200 and Suining City to which Shehong belongs issued a rainstorm orange warning at 1000. The maximum rainfall reached 263.2 millimeters and the accumulated water reached about 1.5 meters deep in the area near Taihe Middle School and Yingchun Road. Broken-down vehicles could be seen everywhere and rising river water poured into streets flooding greenbelts and shops and causing much inconvenience to traffic. The rain is heavy like rainstorm. My car couldn t move in a few minutes because its engine shut down. Now it s floating in water said a motorist. The flood water was about 1.5 meters deep in a neighborhood where residential houses are very old. About 150 households were trapped in their buildings. Firefighters transferred them to safe areas by boats and by carrying them on back. The rain is still going on in the city and the local authorities are organizing disaster relief. At the same time thunderstorm hit Meishan City on Monday with 2771 thunders having battered the city. The rainfalls in 36 observations exceeded 50 millimeters and the highest one reached 150.2 millimeters. The city issued yellow and orange rainstorm alerts in succession. The disaster flooded streets in the urban areas and damaged houses and farmland in rural areas.
