Sir Michael Caine, CBE (/keɪn/; born Maurice Joseph Micklewhite; 14 March 1933), is an English actor and author. Renowned for his distinctive working class cockney accent, Caine has appeared in over 115 films and is regarded as a British film icon.
He made his breakthrough in the 1960s with starring roles in a number of acclaimed British films, including Zulu (1964), The Ipcress File (1965), Alfie (1966), for which he was nominated for an Academy Award, The Italian Job (1969), and Battle of Britain (1969). His most notable roles in the 1970s included Get Carter (1971), The Last Valley, Sleuth (1972), for which he earned his second Academy Award nomination, The Man Who Would Be King (1975), and A Bridge Too Far (1977). He achieved some of his greatest critical success in the 1980s, with Educating Rita (1983) earning him the BAFTA and Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. In 1986, he received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Woody Allen's Hannah and Her Sisters.
2000 Academy Awards may refer to:
David Michael Letterman (born April 12, 1947) is an American former television and radio host, comedian, writer, producer, and actor.
He hosted a late night television talk show for 33 years, beginning with the February 1, 1982, debut of Late Night with David Letterman on NBC, and ending with the May 20, 2015, broadcast of the Late Show with David Letterman on CBS. In total, Letterman hosted 6,028 episodes of Late Night and Late Show, surpassing friend and mentor Johnny Carson as the longest-serving late night talk show host in American television history. In 1996, David Letterman was ranked No. 45 on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Stars of All Time.
Letterman is also a television and film producer. His company, Worldwide Pants, produced his show and formerly produced The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Worldwide Pants has also produced several prime-time comedies, the most successful of which was Everybody Loves Raymond, currently in syndication.
Late-night hosts Conan O'Brien (Letterman's successor on Late Night), and Jimmy Kimmel, cite Letterman's influence.
John Joseph "Jack" Nicholson (born April 22, 1937) is an American actor and filmmaker, having performed for nearly 60 years. He is known for playing a wide range of starring or supporting roles, including satirical comedy, romance and dark portrayals of excitable and psychopathic characters. In many of his films he played the "eternal outsider, the sardonic drifter", and someone who rebels against the social structure.
Nicholson's 12 Academy Award nominations make him the most nominated male actor in the Academy's history. Nicholson has won the Academy Award for Best Actor twice, one for the drama One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) and the other for the romantic comedy As Good as It Gets (1997). He also won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the comedy-drama Terms of Endearment (1983). Nicholson is one of three male actors to win three Academy Awards.
Nicholson is one of only two actors to be nominated for an Academy Award for acting in every decade from the 1960s to the 2000s; the other is Michael Caine. He has won six Golden Globe Awards, and received the Kennedy Center Honor in 2001. In 1994, he became one of the youngest actors to be awarded the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award.
Daniel Jacob Radcliffe (born 23 July 1989) is an English actor who rose to prominence as the title character in the Harry Potter film series. He made his acting debut at 10 years of age in BBC One's 1999 television film David Copperfield, followed by his cinematic debut in 2001's The Tailor of Panama. At age 11, he was cast as Harry Potter in the first Harry Potter film, and starred in the series for 10 years until the release of the eighth and final film in 2011.
Radcliffe began to branch out to stage acting in 2007, starring in the London and New York productions of Equus, and in the 2011 Broadway revival of the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He starred in the 2012 horror film The Woman in Black, and played beat poet Allen Ginsberg in the 2013 independent film Kill Your Darlings.
He has contributed to many charities, including Demelza Hospice Care for Children, and The Trevor Project for suicide prevention among LGBTQ youth, which gave him its Hero Award in 2011.

"The theatre is an operation with the scalpel, i think movie acting is an operation with the laser." Michael Caine teaches in this documentary the art of movie acting to five young actors, who perform scenes from "Alfie", "Deathtrap" and "Educating Rita". He talks about how to perform in close-ups and extreme close-ups. He warns about the continuity dangers of smoking cigarettes or fiddling with props. He talks about screen tests, special effects, men who are cavalier about your safety and speaking to someone who is off camera. The movie camera is your best friend and most attentive lover, he says, even though you invariably ignore her (BBC 1987).
Narrated with gentle self-deprecating humor and honesty by the star himself, this Special features clips from such films as Educating Rita, The Man Who Would Be King, Alfie, California Suite, Hannah And Her Sisters, Mona Lisa, Sleuth, Deathtrap, Zulu, and The Ipcress File. Born into poverty in London, when he first decided to become an actor, he was looked upon with amazement: who did he think he was? But he persevered, starting in repertory theater, then tv, and finally succeeding in becoming one of filmdom’s most versatile stars. Today, despite those successes, Michael Caine retains a keen memory of his origins. He has refused to abandon the Cockney accent that reflects his roots, or the authentic spirit that bends a knee to no one. Also included are the recollections of friends, co-w...

The Too Late the Hero is a 1970 Anglo-American war film directed by Robert Aldrich, and starring Michael Caine, Henry Fonda, Cliff Robertson, Ken Takakura, Denholm Elliott, Ian Bannen, Lance Percival, Ronald Fraser, Harry Andrews and Percy Herbert.
Sir Michael Caine – a super star ending to the summer season of the Prudential Series – told of his career to date making 147 films and the experiences that gave him his character. He opened with a “not a lot of people know that” gag and kept the full house at China Exchange laughing throughout his frank and funny 60 minutes. Sir Michael spoke of the influence of his wife of 42 years in balancing his life – having been a heavy drinker, he said that meeting her made him realise that he no longer needed alcohol…apart from the occasional glass of red wine. He spoke of showing restraint and his view that one should never lose one’s temper with strangers (a lesson learned during a film shoot). He made the Muppet Christmas Carol for his daughter – keen to act in something that she could enjoy...

He's walking where i'm afraid i don't no
i see the firemen jumping from the windows
(there's panic and i hear somebody scream)
he picks up useless paper and puts it in my pocket
i'm trying very hard to keep my fingers clean
(i can't remember tell me what's his name?)
and all i wanted was a word - a photograph to keep at home
and all i wanted was a word - a photograph to keep
the sun is laughing it's another broking morning
i see a shadow and call out to try and warn him
(he didn't seem to hear just turn away)
the quit fellows follows
points his fingers straight at you
he had to sacrifice his pride - yes
throw it away
and all i wanted ...
his days are numbered he walks round and round in circles
there is no place he can ever call his own
(he semm's to jump at the sound of the phone)
staring out the window
there's nothing he can now do
all he wanted was to remain in sane
(he can't remember his own name)
