Peak District in the winter reveals its beauty and turns wild for few days. Imagine climbing the Win Hill or Back Tor after the night blizzard, when you are the first to leave the traces in the soft snow... You don't need 4x4, just get winter tyres and hit the road. Easier option for some might be a pair of good boots and the train ticket to Edale, at the foot of Kinder Scout. For those of you who like to stay warm and safe in the valley, there's plenty of history to see, natural formations we all heard about - caves and caverns, old mine tunnels to visit and the lovely cosy pubs and tea rooms with a cream tea that can make you nose and hart melt. If you don't like crowds avoid Mam Tor at all cost, however it is a nice short walk, as you can park your car below the summit, and march few hundred yards up the hill. We would appreciate Your feedback, all comments welcome. Enjoy. adhocmedia@outlook.com

Visit Leek - Market town promotional film commissioned by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council - staffsmoorlands.gov.uk For further details see visitleek.co.uk Leek is a delightful historic market town situated on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park and surrounded by rugged countryside, including the stunning gritstone rock formations of The Roaches. The unspoilt town centre is a refreshing change from modern shopping malls and has some unique speciality antique shops and you'll also be able to explore huge Victorian mills, formerly silk mills but now housing antique and reproduction pine centres, as well as traditional and contemporary art galleries. The town has numerous independent food shops including traditional butchers, bakers and green grocers, delicatessen, oatcakes, wine, whisky and beers. Enjoy the bustle and atmosphere of Leek's traditional markets – there's a general weekly outdoor market each Wednesday for bargains, as well as an indoor market every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday in the restored Victorian Butter Market. You can also browse the antique and collectors' market held outdoors each Saturday and an award-winning monthly fine food market, which is held every third Saturday of the month in Leek's ancient Market Place. Leek's long history features such famous characters as Bonnie Prince Charlie, canal engineer James Brindley, Queen Victoria and Victorian designer William Morris and with its ancient markets, Victorian mills, historic churches, distinctive shops and award-winning eateries, there's much for the visitor to see and do. Filmed in the Peak District and Bakewell. Really georgous area of England, this video seriously doesn't do it justice. :P hopefully at some point I'll be able to go back there and get some decent footage. Speaking of the footage.. This stuff has actually been sat around on my harddrive for about five years now and it's not the best (lots of shaky camera work etc.) I had to cut large parts of it out. But I wanted to do something with it, hence this video. Hopefully someone might find it enjoyable. England Adventure Travel - For visitors, the beauty of an adventure travel in England is the compact nature of the country. By spending less time going between places and more time in them, you can immerse yourself in the scenery, instead of just breezing through. Whether you're strolling the undulating hills of Oxfordshire, cycling in Norfolk, surfing off Newquay or rock-climbing in the Peak District, England is perfect for activity and adventure. And with time on your side, you'll get closer to understanding local sensibilities: relaxing with the locals in an Englands'country pub, enjoying a music festival or watching a cricket match. BBC News 2015-03-20The Peak District is an upland area in central and northern England, lying mainly in northern Derbyshire, but also covering parts of Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, and South and West Yorkshire.
An area of great diversity, it is conventionally split into the northern Dark Peak, where most of the moorland is found and whose geology is gritstone, and the southern White Peak, where most of the population lives and where the geology is mainly limestone-based.
Most of the area falls within the Peak District National Park, whose designation in 1951 made it the first national park in the United Kingdom. Proximity to the major cities of Manchester and Sheffield and the counties of Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Staffordshire and South and West Yorkshire, coupled with easy access by road and rail, have contributed to its popularity. With an estimated 22 million visitors per year, the Peak District is thought to be the second most-visited national park in the world (after the Mount Fuji National Park in Japan), though the Peak District National Park Authority believe these figures are incorrect or unsubstantiated, estimating around 10 million people visit annually.
Leo Houlding (born 28 July 1980) is a British rock climber who has climbed the Angel of the North along with more traditional ascents such as some of El Capitan's toughest lines.
Houlding began rock climbing at the age of 10. In 1996, he became the British Junior Indoor Climbing Champion. He spent the summer of 1997 living in and around Llanberis in North Wales. The summer was notable for having many well known UK climbers in the region at the same time, including Adam Wainwright, Tim Emmett, Simon Panton, Patch Hammond and others; some important new routes were established during that season. He became the subject of the 2003 TV documentary "My Right Foot" which was part of the Extreme Lives series aired on BBC Television.
Houlding appeared in the BBC television programme Top Gear in which he raced presenter Jeremy Clarkson up a cliff face in Verdon Gorge, winning the challenge. Houlding, joined by Tim Emmett, climbed the canyon whilst Jeremy drove an Audi RS4 to the top using the surrounding roads. He has also appeared several times on the Audi Channel.
