These places have a tough climate, impenetrable forests and the no civilization. No one would wish to live here. No one except these people. Others would be frightened by the lack of roads but these people appreciate the freedom of movement. The vacuum of information preserves the tranquility of their souls. They do not have ID cards, salaries or pensions. Formally they do not exist at all. But in reality, they live here. They live happily and independently from the state, and they are able to enjoy the authentic beauty of nature in the Tuvan Republic every day.

Суровый климат, непроходимые леса, отсутствие цивилизации. В таких условиях по доброй воле жить не захочет никто. Никто, кроме этих людей. Они видят не бездорожье, а свободу передвижения, не информационный вакуум, а душевное спокойствие. У них нет паспортов, зарплат, пенсий. Формально они не существуют. Но фактически - живут здесь. Живут счастливо и независимо от государства, каждый день любуясь неподдельной красотой природы республики Тува.
Наша съемочная группа прожила в Туве целый год. За это время мы охотились в горах Тоджи с оленеводами. Ставили силки в дремучей тайге вместе со староверами. Приручали диких лошадей и верблюдов с чабанами. Мы очутились в незнакомом, но прекрасном мире. И поняли, в чем смысл жизни этих свободных народов.

The Tyva Republic (Russian: Респу́блика Тыва́, tr. Respublika Tyva; IPA: [rʲɪˈspublʲɪkə tɨˈva]; Tuvan: Тыва Республика, Tyva Respublika), or Tuva (Russian: Тува́), is a federal subject of Russia (a republic). It lies in the geographical center of Asia, in southern Siberia. The republic borders with the Altai Republic, the Republic of Khakassia, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Irkutsk Oblast, and the Republic of Buryatia in Russia and with Mongolia to the south. Its capital is the city of Kyzyl. Population: 307,930 (2010 Census).
Forests, mountains, and steppe make up a large part of the geography.
A majority of the people are Tuvans who speak the Tuvan language, but Russian is also spoken extensively. Tuva is governed by the Great Khural which elects a chairman for a four-year term. The current chairman is Sholban Kara-ool.
The republic is situated in the far south of Siberia. Its capital city of Kyzyl is located near the geographic "center of Asia". The eastern part of the republic is forested and elevated, and the west is a drier lowland.

David Michael Letterman (born April 12, 1947) is an American television host and comedian. He hosts the late night television talk show, Late Show with David Letterman, broadcast on CBS. Letterman has been a fixture on late night television since the 1982 debut of Late Night with David Letterman on NBC. Letterman recently surpassed friend and mentor Johnny Carson for having the longest late-night hosting career in the United States of America.
Letterman is also a television and film producer. His company Worldwide Pants produces his show as well as its network follow-up The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Worldwide Pants has also produced several prime-time comedies, the most successful of which was Everybody Loves Raymond, currently in syndication.
In 1996, David Letterman was ranked #45 on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Stars of All Time.
Letterman was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. His father, Harry Joseph Letterman (April 1915 – February 1973), was a florist of British descent; his mother Dorothy Letterman (née Hofert, now Dorothy Mengering), a Presbyterian church secretary of German descent, is an occasional figure on the show, usually at holidays and birthdays.

These places have a tough climate, impenetrable forests and the no civilization. No one would wish to live here. No one except these people. Others would be frightened by the lack of roads but these people appreciate the freedom of movement. The vacuum of information preserves the tranquility of their souls. They do not have ID cards, salaries or pensions. Formally they do not exist at all. But in reality, they live here. They live happily and independently from the state, and they are able to enjoy the authentic beauty of nature in the Tuvan Republic every day.

Суровый климат, непроходимые леса, отсутствие цивилизации. В таких условиях по доброй воле жить не захочет никто. Никто, кроме этих людей. Они видят не бездорожье, а свободу передвижения, не информационный вакуум, а душевное спокойствие. У них нет паспортов, зарплат, пенсий. Формально они не существуют. Но фактически - живут здесь. Живут счастливо и независимо от государства, каждый день любуясь неподдельной красотой природы республики Тува.
Наша съемочная группа прожила в Туве целый год. За это время мы охотились в горах Тоджи с оленеводами. Ставили силки в дремучей тайге вместе со староверами. Приручали диких лошадей и верблюдов с чабанами. Мы очутились в незнакомом, но прекрасном мире. И поняли, в чем смысл жизни этих свободных народов.

Tuva Sunrise is a piece I composed in February 2013. Tuva is a region in southern Siberia. Tuvan Throat singing is a musical art form where the performers are singing 2 notes at the same time. A base tone and overtones simultaneously. There are different schools of throat singing and all sound different. Historically it reaches way back in Mongolian, Inner Mongolia, and Tuvan history. This style of singing is often performed by male sheep herders. The open landscape of Mongolia allows for the sounds to carry a great distance and often singers of this style will travel great distances to find the right landcape to produce the proper resonance of sound.
This piece was composed using Logic Pro 9 as the DAW:
Tuvan sounds are the Omnisphere Pack. Everything is Logic Pro 9 sounds with Drums of War and Mirislov Philharmonic patches.
This picture was taken by me in Joshua Tree National Park. Nikon D300s and edited with Lightroom 5 using Nik Software.

LEAD IN:
Sometimes referred to as the Siberian Shangri-la, the Russian region of Tuva is both remote and mysterious.
North of Mongolia and surrounded by mountains, after centuries of isolation, Tuva is now being explored by the rest of the world.
STORYLINE:
Tuva is one of 20 republics of the Russian Federation.
The size of Florida, only 300-thousand or so people live in this land of high plains and valleys surrounded by mountain peaks.
The Tuvan people are rightly proud of their Scythian ancestors, whose horses thundered across the Siberian steppe 2,700 years ago.
The Tuvans themselves are just as capable horsemen.
To celebrate the opening of the Arzhan-2 museum a day of traditional Tuvan sports was held in the valley.
Arzhan-2 is an undisturbed "royal" burial site dating from the Scythian period.
Two races were held - one 15 kilometre ( 9 mile) race for horses under 3 years old and a 25 kilometre (15.5 mile) race for older horses.
Historically Tuvans led a nomadic way of life, moving on horses from one settlement to another and the natural conditions of the republic are perfect for horse riding.
But Arzhan-2 was made entirely of stone.

Cera did a guided walking tour while she was in London. We walked from Trafalgar Square to St. James' Palace to Buckingham Palace. We saw the guards preparing to march from St. James' Palace (I think that's where Princess Ann lives...Prince Charles' sister). Then we marched along with the guards as they went to Buckingham Palace for the world famous Changing of the Guards.
This is Cera's BEST video. This was out tour guide, and at first one may think he's harsh, but as time went on, we got to find out that it was part of the "show". Rather interesting. He made us call him "Sir" Cera thought he was really good and wanted to take her Uncle there to see him too, but early mornings are not a thing for either Cera nor Dennis :o)

울란바토르에는 시내 어디서나 보이는 탑이 있다. 늘 궁금해 했던 나는 드디어 올라가 보기로 했다. 500개가 넘는 계단을 올라야 했는데, 울란바토르의 평균 고도가 1200미터정도로 높아서인지 마치 하늘 속을 걸어 들어가는 기분이었다. 산 정상에 위치한 이 탑은 1965년 제 2차 세계대전에서 러시아와 연합하여 전쟁에 승리한 것을 기념하기 위해 세운 탑이다. 탑 안 원형 공간에는 전쟁에서의 승리 모습을 기록한 벽화로 장식돼 있었는데 500개가 넘는 가파른 계단을 헐떡거리며 올라온 정성에 비하면 좀 허전한 느낌이 드는 그림이었다. 내 기분을 아는 듯 내려오는 길에 나는 뜻밖의 행운을 얻었다. 한 몽골인 아저씨가 아무 악기 없이도 멜로디와 화음을 동시에 발성하는 허미라는 독특한 몽골 창법으로 연주하고 있었다. “숨을 마시고 참고 다시 내면서 나오는 음이에요. 이것을 ‘허미’라고 합니다. 자연의 소리와 비슷합니다. 베이스, 소프라노, 알토, 테너 음을 냅니다.” 원래 이 아저씨는 종이를 올려 작품을 그리는 화가라고 했다. 그가 들려주는 허미는 관광객을 위한 서비스인 셈이다. 그는 한국에서 온 나를 위해 아리랑을 들려주었다.

Kratovo was famous for its interesting architecture, bridges, gold and silver and 12 towers until 1836 when the town began to deteriorate and decay. Quite a few organizations are now trying to rebuild and revitalize this small town but it was now time for a humungous. lunch time spread.
Led by local guides, a 76 year old, traditionally dressed bagpiper piped us into an area where lunch had been cooked and laid by the guide's wife. Lunch for those who wanted to chow down was 480 Dinar (less than $10 a person) and included Shopska salad, a baked bean casserole called - Tauche Gravche, a vegetable casserole called - Turli Tuva (loved the names), spinach and cheese pies similar to Borek, bread, wine, dessert. There was a lot of food on this table and the only chance during "Ancient Macedonia" tour to actually eat a typically Macedonia spread. Yum-O...
The bagpiper was so charismatic as he "squeezed out" several long tunes, sang, and gave blessings while Goran did his best to translate. A perfect ending to the group visit in Kratovo.
