Luis Alberni (October 4, 1886 – December 23, 1962) was a Spanish-born American character actor in American films.
Alberni was born in Barcelona, Spain. He majored in acting while attending the University of Madrid. In order to pursue his acting career further, he determined to emigrate to the United States and, in April 1912, he sailed to New York as a steerage passenger aboard the S/S Nieuw Amsterdam. In New York, he acted on both stage and screen. His first motion picture performance was in the 1915 Jewish drama, Children of the Ghetto. On the stage, he appeared in more than a dozen Broadway plays between 1915 and 1928, including,39 East, Dreams for Sale and the original production of What Price Glory? in 1924-25. In the sound film era, he had notable roles as Jacopo in The Count of Monte Cristo, which starred Robert Donat, and as the mayor in A Bell for Adano. He died at the motion picture actors' home in Woodland Hills, California in 1962. His remains are interred at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery.

Rappelons les première et dernière phrases : «C'était à Mégara, faubourg de Carthage, dans les jardins d'Hamilcar. (...)" "Ainsi mourut la fille d'Hamilcar pour avoir touché au manteau de Tanit».

The Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy Show was a radio comedy variety show that aired from 1936 to 1955. As the title suggests, the show featured ventriloquist Edgar Bergen, and his beloved puppet, the amazing Charlie McCarthy. It is this show which made the duo overnight superstars. The show is also one of the highest paid ever. The show was first introduced in The Rudy Vallee Hour, and later became a part of the Chase and Sandborn Radio Hour, sharing the spotlight with Dorothy Lamour and Don Ameche. It then went on to become a major hit, even ranking best radio show for a decade. It stars Sonny Tufts, Victor Jory, and Marie Windsor. The musical score was composed by Elmer Bernstein, (though most notably his last name is misspelled as "Bernstien" in the opening credits). Five astronauts travel to the dark side of the moon on a scientific expedition. There they discover a cave which somehow retains a breathable atmosphere. They remove their space suits and venture on, soon finding a buried city where they meet the last members of a 2 million year old civilization. Little do they know that these attractive young women in tight black outfits are planning to steal their ship... For further movie mayhem; https://www.faceboo...

This is a clip of Lloyd Arntzen and his band greeting Louis Armstrong's All Stars at the train station in 1949. It was filmed by local jazz historian Dave Dixon. The audio playing in the background was recorded by a group Lloyd hand picked in January 2015. The recording studio band consisted of Reeds: Llyod Arnzen, Cornet: Alan Matheson, Guitar: Arnt Arntzen, Drums: Arnt Arntzen. The audio was recorded by Dave Henderson. The song they are playing is the Farewell Blues. The clip was edited together by Joel Schwarz. I had a few questions for Lloyd and Dave about their experience of meeting Armstrong during that trip and here is what they had to say: Llyod's memories: 1) Do you remember who was in the band that you're playing with in the film? Do you remember how you got the gig? "The guy...

John Rowe is a retired airline pilot and I spent 38 years in the cockpit of Delta aircraft. During that time he watched and listened as a UFO was sighted by one of Delta's jets near Atlanta GA. At that time, 1967 John was the third pilot on a DC-8. This sighting was made not only by airline crews but Atlanta radar. John states that a Delta jet actually chased the UFO with Atlanta ATC providing permission to do so. Later on in 1975 John Rowe personally witnessed a UFO 1/2 mile south of Brady, Texas. It crossed the road in front of John one night less than 200 feet above the ground. John had two dogs in the front seat of his truck and they cowered as he had never seen them do before or after during this sighting.

Shortly after WWII, when knowledge about nutrition was still sparse, scientists in Canada took advantage of already malnourished aboriginal communities by using them as research subjects to investigate the effects of different diets and dietary supplements. Evidence of these government-run experiments was brought to the forefront by food historian and UBC History alumnus Ian Mosby, and the research has gained widespread recognition. Sometimes the experiments involved decreasing food intake or withholding supple...
