What is Friday?
A report all about Friday for homework/assignment
Friday ( or ) is the day after Thursday which precedes Saturday. In countries adopting Monday-first conventions as recommended by the international standard ISO 8601, it is the fifth day of the week. It is the sixth day in countries that adopt a Sunday-first convention, as in the Abrahamic tradition. In other countries (see workweek and weekend), Friday is the first day of the weekend, with Saturday the second. In Afghanistan and Iran, Friday is the last day of the weekend, with Saturday as the first day of the working week. Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait

ISO 8601 Data elements and interchange formats – Information interchange – Representation of dates and times is an international standard covering the exchange of date and time-related data. It was issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and was first published in 1988. The purpose of this standard is to provide an unambiguous and well-defined method of representing dates and times, so as to avoid misinterpretation of numeric representations of dates and times, particularly when data are transferred between countries with different conventions for writing numeric dates and times. In general, ISO 8601 applies to representations and formats of dates in the Gregorian (and potentially proleptic Gregorian) calendar, times based on the 24-hour timekeeping system (including optional time zone information), time intervals and combinations thereof. The standard does not assign any specific meaning to elements of the date/time to be represented; the meaning will depend on the context of its use. In addition, dates and times to be represented cannot include words with no specified numerical meaning in the standard (e.g. names of years in the Chinese calendar) or that do not use characters (e.g. images, sounds). In representations for interchange, dates and times are arranged so the largest temporal term (the year) is placed to the left and each successively smaller term is placed to the right of the previous term. Representations must be written in a combination of Arabic numerals and certain characters (such as "-", "W", and "Z") that are given specific meanings within the standard; The implication is that some commonplace ways of writing parts of dates, such as "January" or "Thursday", are not allowed in interchange representations.

Desvendando a linguagem JavaScript - #11 - Date - Rodrigo Branas

Translation of the closing credits:
This song was written by Stefan Lindblom and Johnny Rosenberg (then called Stefan Aronsson and Johnny Andersson) sometime around the mid 1980s.
The sound of this version was recorded by Johnny Rosenberg, acting on his own (all dates in ISO-8601 format):
Digital drums: 2010-11-28
Bass guitar (tuned D-G-C-F): 2010-12-01
Rhythm guitar: 2010-12-02
Lead guitar: 2010-12-02
Keyboard: 2010-12-02
Acoustic rhythm guitar: 2010-12-12
Mixing and finishing: 2010-12-12
All instruments were recorded directly on a Roland VS-2480 except the acoustic guitars, which were recorded on a Zoom H4n, as it lacks fans that theoretically could be heard in the recording. Those tracks were then moved to the Roland VS-2480 for further editing.
The final mix was transferred to a PC running Ubuntu 10.10, for the last finishing touch and conversion to the FLAC format, using the audio editing program Audacity 1.3.12-beta. The effects used was Audacity's built-in normalising, DC elimination, fade-in/out and Steve Harris' plugin effect "Fast Lookahead Limiter". FLAC tags were then added, using Johnny Rosenberg's own Bash scripts that use MetaFLAC for tagging.
The song was shot by Johnny Rosenberg, again acting on his own:
Digital drums: 2011-10-09
Bass guitar: 2011-10-16
Keyboard: 2011-10-16
Acoustic rhythm guitar: 2011-10-16
Rhythm guitar: 2011-10-23
Lead guitar: 2011-10-26
Elin Rosenberg assisted with some help behind the camera at certain shots.
Editing the video has been sporadic since then, so this version of the video wasn't ready until 2013-11-11, after long periods of forgottenness...
The video was shot with a JVC GZ-MS120SE - a fairly simple and inexpensive consumer video camera. Editing was done first in Ubuntu 10.10 with OpenShot 1.2.2 and, after upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04, with OpenShot 1.4.3. Blender 2.6.2 was used with OpenShot at the animation of the title. Sounds to the title sequence were found at freesound.org and edited with Audacity 2.0.0 before it was imported to OpenShot for further editing there.
This text was created in GIMP 2.8.6 and partly written in Leafpad 0.8.18.1.
Other programs that have been used in one way or another during the creation of this simple video, are:
Kino 1.3
Apache OpenOffice Calc
LibreOffice Calc
Thanks for looking! It is always exactly just as much fun...

Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait also followed this convention until they changed to a Friday–Saturday weekend, on 1 September 2006 in Bahrain and UAE, and a year later in Kuwait. In Iran, Friday is the only weekend day.

Thursday ( or ) is the day of the week following Wednesday and before Friday. According to the ISO 8601 international standard adopted in most western countries, it is the fourth day of the week. In countries that use the Sunday-first convention, Thursday is defined as the fifth day of the week. It is the fifth day of the week in the Judeo-Christian calendar as well, and was defined so in the ancient Mesopotamian and biblical calendars. The name is derived from Old English Þūnresdæg and Middle English Thuresday, which means "Thor's day".

The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language.

The Romans named Saturday dies Saturni ("Saturn's Day") no later than the 2nd century for the planet Saturn, which controlled the first hour of that day, according to Vettius Valens. When the day's name was introduced into English and other Germanic languages, however, the name was selected as a calque of the god Saturn, after whom the planet was named. The name was introduced into English no later than the tenth century, when the day was referred to as "Sæternes dæge" in an Old English translation of Bede's Ecclesiastical History of the English People. In Old English, the name was sunnanæfen ("sun" + "eve").

Sony A7 Mark II
Sony A7 Mark II
Barely a year after its introduction of the first a7 camera, Sony has brought us an upgrade: the a7II. It’s the fourth a7-series body, now sharing the stage with the high-resolution a7r and the high-ISO a7s. So what’s changed in the a7II?
The big news is the in-body five-axis image stabilization (IBIS). It’s the first time we’ve had this in a full-frame mirrorless camera. While the IBIS might not be as good as in the amazing Olympus OM-D E-M1, remember that this camera’s sensor has a mass more than 4x that of the E-M1. And for some, the real clincher will be that the a7II’s IBIS can be used with third-party lenses, even those such as Leica a

Unix time
Unix time
Unix time
Unix time (aka POSIX time or Epoch time), is a system for describing instants in time, defined as the number of seconds that have elapsed since 00:00:00 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), Thursday, 1 January 1970, not counting leap seconds. It is used widely in Unix-like and many other operating systems and file formats. Due to its handling of leap seconds, it is neither a linear representation of time nor a true representation of UTC. Unix time may be checked on most Unix systems by typing date +%s on the command line.

The term "week" is sometimes expanded to refer to other time units comprising a few days, such as the nundinal cycle of the ancient Roman calendar.

The terms anno Domini (AD or A.D.) and before Christ (BC or B.C.) are used to label or number years in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. The term anno Domini is Medieval Latin, which means in the year of the Lord but is often translated as in the year of our Lord. It is occasionally set out more fully as anno Domini nostri Iesu (or Jesu) Christi ("in the year of Our Lord Jesus Christ"). This calendar era is based on the traditionally reckoned year of the conception or birth of Jesus of Nazareth, with AD counting years from the start of this epoch, and BC denoting years before the start of the era. There is no year zero in this scheme, so the year AD 1 immediately follows the year 1 BC. This dating system was devised in 525, but was not widely used until after 800. The Gregorian calendar is the most widely used calendar in the world today. For decades, it has been the unofficial global standard, adopted in the pragmatic interests of international communication, transportation, and commercial integration, and recognized by international institutions such as the United Nations and the Universal Postal Union. Traditionally, English followed Latin usage by placing the "AD" abbreviation before the year number. However, BC is placed after the year number (for example: AD 2015, but 68 BC), which also preserves syntactic order. The abbreviation is also widely used after the number of a century or millennium, as in "fourth century AD" or "second millennium AD" (although conservative usage formerly rejected such expressions). Because BC is the English abbreviation for Before Christ, it is sometimes incorrectly concluded that AD means After Death, i.e., after the death of Jesus. However, this would mean that the ~33 years commonly associated with the life of Jesus would not be included in either of the BC and the AD time scales. Terminology that is viewed by some as being more neutral and inclusive of non-Christian people is to call this the Current, or Common Era (abbreviated as CE or C.E.), with the preceding years referred to as Before the Common, Christian, or Current Era (BCE or B.C.E.). Astronomical year numbering and ISO 8601 avoid words or abbreviations related to Christianity, but use the same numbers for AD years.

And for some, the real clincher will be that the a7II’s IBIS can be used with third-party lenses, even those such as Leica and other M-mount lenses attached to the Sony body via inexpensive adaptors. That’s right: the quality of that gorgeous Leica, Zeiss and other great glass now with image stabilization.
Other improvements are a much more robust body using more magnesium alloy parts. The results are a camera that is the same height and width, just a bit thicker and 100g heavier. Doug says it feels much better and more like a pro-level camera than the other a7-series cameras.

The available calendar widgets are all made with canvas and cannot be navigated by keyboard. Plus, most of are not ISO8601 compliant.
Therefore, I wrote my own calendar widget in pure Tcl/Tk as a Tcl module without canvas and ISO8601 compliance. Since ISO8601 is a worldwide standard, there is absolutely no way of using old-fashioned, deprecated national ways of writing a date. But the texts used for month names and (abbreviated) weekday names can be localised using standard msgcat.
The widget uses the namespace calendarWidget, but not (yet) TclOO.

The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language.

Saturday (/ˈsætərdi/ or /ˈsætərdeɪ/) is the day of the week following Friday and preceding Sunday. Saturday is the seventh and therefore last day of the week according to many commonly used calendars, and it is the second-to-last (sixth) day of the week according to ISO 8601 (see below).

A week is a time unit equal to seven days. It is the standard time period used for cycles of work days and rest days in most parts of the world, mostly alongside (but not strictly part of) the Gregorian calendar. The days of the week were named in different languages after classical planets, various deities (example: Thursday – Thor's day, a variation after Jupiter's day from Roman times) and heavenly bodies (example: Sunday – Sun's day) and other sources. In English, the names are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. ISO 8601 includes the ISO week date system, a numbering system for weeks within a given year – each week begins on a Monday and is associated with the year that contains that week's Thursday (so that if a year starts in a long weekend Friday–Sunday, week number one of the year will start after that). The term "week" is sometimes expanded to refer to other time units comprising a few days, such as the nundinal cycle of the ancient Roman calendar.

Year zero does not exist in the Anno Domini (or Common Era) system usually used to number years in the Gregorian calendar and in its predecessor, the Julian calendar. In this system, the year 1 BC is followed by AD 1. However, there is a year zero in astronomical year numbering (where it coincides with the Julian year 1 BC) and in ISO 8601:2004 (where it coincides with the Gregorian year 1 BC) as well as in all Buddhist and Hindu calendars.
