Housingcasework & resources KCAP believes that safe affordable housing is a basic right. If you are experiencing difficulties with Housing or a landlord, you are not alone. Our members have experience in dealing with intransigent bureaucrats, the Housing Tribunal and irresponsible landlords. We can work with you to research your situation and do whatever it takes to resolve it.

Children's Aidout of control Anyone who has been dragged into the bizzaro world of Children Aid knows that they are not the 'feel good' protection agency that the public believes. KCAP is under no illusions; these people are accountable to no one, will blatantly lie to the courts and do whatever is necessary to justify kidnapping your child. We are working to expose the abuses to the public.

Disability & OWraise the rates KCAP demands that assistance rates across the board be increased by 55% to restore the insane cuts made by the infamous Mike Harris government in the 1990s. The current government is actually making it more difficult for those on assistance to meet their basic daily needs by brutally slashing Special Diet eligibility and the Community Start Up & Maintenance Benefit. Enough is enough.

Human Rightsbecause its the law Make no mistake - our most basic rights and freedoms are under attack all over the world. KCAP believes that our human rights do not belong to government to either give or to take away. For that reason, we are supporting a challenge to the legislated slavery known as Ontario Works "workfare". A government allowed to ignore the law and take away the rights of some, will sooner or later take yours as well.

Globalism - NWOkeeping you informed The march to a corporate fascist dictatorship is accelerating daily. We are all targets now as criminal 'banksters' steal trillions, governments clamp down on information networks and personal freedoms are replaced by police state surveillance and corporate controls on literally everything. KCAP offers a news-blog of information not easily found or even reported in the mainstream media.

Community Projectswe share the planet KCAP believes that all politics are inevitably local... or as it used to be said: if you want something done, you must do it yourself. We have fought to save our prison farms, participated in a home grown natural bread making project and have planted fruit trees throughout our neighbourhoods. We have also provided free food in the park events and occasional neighbourhood entertainment events. We are all one people.

While KCAP continues to organize direct action initiatives, we are no longer a one dimensional advocate group. Our activites now include public outreach, forging political alliances with like-minded groups, legal research and initiatives to improve the quality of life in our community. KCAP will continue to evolve to creatively meet today's challenges.

OW/ODSP MERGER ACTION Monday, December 16th at 10 a.m KCAP is inviting members of the community to join them in solidarity to speak with John Garretson. If you are interested in attending, KCAP will be meeting outside Gerretson's office (Bagot & Princess) @ 9:45 a.m. We will be asking Gerretsen to sign a promissory letter that he will not ever vote in favour of merging and downloading OW and ODSP.

Bus Trip to Sudbury
Free bus trip to the Raise the Rates Provincial Convergence Rally in Sudbury leaving from the Kingslake Plaza at 7:00 am with a stop in Belleville at 8:30 am. Returning that evening between 11:00 - 12:00 pm. *bus is Wheelchair accessible. Coffee&muffins/snacks will be provided on the way up, and food&pop will be provided on the way back.
