The 2003 NBA draft was held on June 26, 2003, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. The NBA announced that 41 college and high school players and a record 31 international players had filed as early-entry candidates for the 2003 NBA draft. The Cleveland Cavaliers, who had a 22.50 percent probability of obtaining the first selection, won the NBA draft lottery on May 22, and Cleveland chairman Gordon Gund said afterward his team would select LeBron James. The Detroit Pistons and the Denver Nuggets were second and third respectively.
The 2003 draft is known for having one of the most talented draft pools in draft history. Four of the top five picks are NBA All-Stars and "Redeem Team" Olympic Gold Medalists: Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, and LeBron James. Many players have been in the starting line-ups of their respective teams; eight have already participated in an All-Star Game, Dwyane Wade was named NBA Finals MVP in 2006 and won the NBA All Star Game MVP in 2010, Boris Diaw won the Most Improved Player Award in 2006, Jason Kapono won the three point shootout back to back years in 2007 and 2008, James Jones won the three point shootout in 2011, Leandro Barbosa won the Sixth Man Award in 2007, Kyle Korver set the NBA record for three point shooting percentage in 2010 (53.6%), and in the 2009, 2010, 2012, and 2013 seasons LeBron James won the NBA Most Valuable Player Award, and the NBA Finals MVP in 2012 and 2013. Carmelo Anthony won the 2013 NBA Scoring Title. Chris Bosh left Toronto in 2010 as its all-time leader in points, rebounds, blocks, double doubles, free throws made and attempted, and minutes played. The 2003 draft class has drawn comparisons to the 1984 and 1996 NBA draft classes, but is also known for the Detroit Pistons making the controversial selection of Darko Miličić with the second pick over other prospects. Four of the five first picks have won an NBA Championship: Darko Miličić with the Pistons in 2004; Dwyane Wade with the Heat in 2006, 2012 and 2013; Chris Bosh and LeBron James also with the Heat in 2012 and 2013. Out of the entire draft, only Dwyane Wade and Nick Collison still play for the team that drafted them, although Kirk Hinrich after being traded twice had later returned to the team that drafted him. Lebron James, who was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003, left for the Miami Heat in 2010, but agreed to resign with the Cleveland Cavaliers on July 11, 2014.

Side: The Brazilians keep marching on, but their last match took a major toll on the hosts. The terrible injury to Neymar which has him out for the remainder of the World Cup coupled with the yellow card accumulation suspension for Thiago Silva has the Seleção wondering where they are going to turn.

Both are devastating blows for Brazil as they now must find a new focal point on the offense and have to replace half of the dominant central defense that is a huge reason why the Brazilians are still alive. However, the injury has completely changed the expectations on the pre-tournament favorites. Now they are seen as a slight underdog to Germany, and the country who came into the tournament preaching a win-or-bust mentality suddenly have the pressure lifted. Therefore, it may allow them to play a more free-flowing game like the Brazil of old rather than the somewhat subdued version that's shown up so far. It's more than likely that Dante will be the man who takes Thiago Silva's place, which is obviously a dropoff, but not one Brazil cannot overcome, but it's the decision on who plays in place of Neymar that could ultimately determine the outcome of the match.

Brazil is well known as a side that loves to play on the front foot, put pressure on their opponent, and use creative play in the final third to break down even the best defense, but with their superstar sidelined, it may be best to choose a more defensive minded side. Bringing on Willian or Bernard would provide just that. Even though each of those players is an attacking threat, they both have the ability to track back and defend which Jô would not. Another benefit to using a midfielder is that it leaves an attacker on the bench as a possible sub in the event that the Brazilians fall behind. As for the matchup with the Germans, it actually sets up pretty well for Brazil. Teams that have played at a high pace have given Germany problems thus far.

Obviously Brazil cannot play at the same pace without Neymar, but they still should be able to bang the ball around the midfield quickly and then release down the flanks. Fernandinho, Oscar and Paulinho should be able to control the ball through the center, and it's possible that without the Neymar-centric focus they've had, it may allow Hulk and Fred more opportunities. As long as the defense can hold it's shape they should be able to slow down the German attack that still doesn't look completely comfortable with the false-nine or Miroslav Klose leading the attack. It's possible the loss of Neymar completely derails Brazil, but it's also very possible they ban together and play an even more inspired game. Plus, there's still that stat that says the Brazilians simply don't lose in Brazil (last loss in 1975) and European sides still can't seem to get it right against South Americans in this World Cup.

The 1996 NBA draft was the 50th draft in the National Basketball Association (NBA). It was held on June 26, 1996 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The draft was broadcast in the United States on the Turner Network Television.[1] In this draft, NBA teams took turns selecting college basketball players and other first-time eligible players, such as players from high schools and non-North American leagues. The Vancouver Grizzlies had the highest probability to win the NBA draft lottery, but since they were an expansion team along with the Toronto Raptors, they were not allowed to select first in this draft.[2] The team with the second highest probability, the Philadelphia 76ers won the lottery and obtained the first selection. The Toronto Raptors and the Vancouver Grizzlies were second and third respectively.
Allen Iverson, a sophomore from Georgetown, was selected first overall by the Philadelphia 76ers.
It is widely considered to be one of the deepest and most talented NBA drafts in history, with one-third of the first round picks later becoming NBA All-Stars. The draft class produced three players who won NBA MVP awards (Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Steve Nash), seven other drafted players who became All-Stars (Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Ray Allen, Žydrūnas Ilgauskas, Stephon Marbury, Jermaine O'Neal, Peja Stojaković, Antoine Walker), and one undrafted All-Star (Ben Wallace), for a grand total of 11 All-Stars. Moreover, eight players from this draft class have been named to at least one All-NBA Team, the most among any draft. The draft class also produced 3 players who have been named to the NBA's all-defensive first team: Bryant, Marcus Camby, and Wallace. Camby won the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2007, while Wallace earned the same award in 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2006.
Most experts rate it along with the 1984 NBA draft and 2003 NBA draft as one of the best drafts in history. Sports Illustrated named it the second-best, behind the 1984 draft, whose highlights included Hakeem Olajuwon, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, and John Stockton.[3]

wn.com/Nba Draft 1996 Full Version The Best Draft Ever
