Ashley Monroe

Ashley Lauren Monroe (born September 10, 1986, Knoxville, Tennessee, United States) is an American country music singer-songwriter. She has released two solo singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The singles "Satisfied" and "I Don't Want To" (which featured Brooks & Dunn singer Ronnie Dunn) reached No. 43 and No. 37, respectively. Both singles were intended to be released on Monroe's debut album, Satisfied, in 2007, but the album went unreleased. Soon after, Monroe left Columbia Records' roster in late 2007, and Satisfied was finally released on May 19, 2009. In June 2011, Monroe, Miranda Lambert and Angaleena Presley formed a band called Pistol Annies. Monroe's second studio album, Like a Rose, was released on March 5, 2013 and received widespread critical acclaim.

On February 20, 2015, Monroe released "On to Something Good" as the lead single to her album The Blade, released on July 24, 2015.

Biography

Ashley Lauren Monroe was born on September 10, 1986 in Knoxville, Tennessee. At age 11, she won a talent contest in Pigeon Forge where she sang "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart", and found steady work at a theater there. Her parents played songs by the Eagles and Lynyrd Skynyrd. After her father died from cancer when she was 13, Monroe and her mother moved to Nashville so she could pursue her career in music.

"Like a Rose" is a song by British-Norwegian boy band A1, released as the fourth single from their debut album, Here We Come. The single was released in February 2000, peaking at No. 6 on the UK Singles Chart.

The single was the final official single from the album; however, a follow-up promo single, "If Only", was released exclusively on 12" vinyl.

Grand Ole Opry

The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly country-music stage concert in Nashville, Tennessee, which was founded on November 28, 1925, by George D. Hay as a one-hour radio "barn dance" on WSM. Currently owned and operated by Opry Entertainment (a division of Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc.), it is the longest-running radio broadcast in US history, albeit not the longest-running one on a radio network. Dedicated to honoring country music and its history, the Opry showcases a mix of legends and contemporary chart-toppers performing country, bluegrass, folk, gospel, and comedic performances and skits.
