New cardinals meet their families and media at the apostolic palace
Pope Francis installed 19 new cardinals from all over the world on Saturday in a ceremony at St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
Francis' choices largely reflected his view that the church must minister to the peripheries and be a place of welcome and mercy, not a closed institution of rules.
In addition to a few Vatican bureaucrats, he named like-minded cardinals from some of the poorest places on Earth, including Haiti, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast.
"It is a great privilege, I think to be a Cardinal at anytime, but this time Pope Francis clearly has given a directness, an immediacy to the call of Christ, and I think that in that sense he is showing himself to be a Pope of radical renewal in the church and I think that is a very wonderful moment in which to share," said Archbishop of Westminster and now Cardinal Vincent Nichols.
Two of the new cardinals hail from Africa, two from Asia and six from Francis' native Latin America, which is home to nearly half the world's Catholics but is grossly under-represented in the church's hierarchy.
"There is a great feeling of inadequacy on my part, it does not go away," said Cardinal Orlando Quevedo, from the Philippines.
"It does not seem to go away even though I pray to the lord that I will do my work well as a cardinal; the work of a cardinal is simply beyond the archdiocese that I have and to shepherd a whole island - where bishops have their own authority - I would hope to find out how I can be a shepherd to my own brothers, to my own brother bishops," he added.
Francis also made a Cardinal of Mario Aurelio Poli, who succeeded Francis himself as Archbishop of Buenos Aires when he was made Pope.

Pope Francis: May Jesus’ light reach all the world’s children
The theme of searching in faith, under the guidance of the Spirit, was the focus of Pope Francis’ remarks to pilgrims and tourists gathered beneath the window of the papal apartments in the Apostolic Palace, in St Peter’s Square, to pray the Angelus with him on the Solemnity of the Epiphany. “The Magi testify that Jesus came to earth to save not one people, but all peoples,” said Pope Francis. “Therefore, in today's feast our gaze broadens to encompass the whole world, that everyone everywhere might celebrate the ‘manifestation’ of the Lord to all people, that is, the manifestation of God’s love and of the universal salvation,” He offers thro

Taman Gili Kerta Gosa
Now if you want to admire paintings akin to Michelangelo's on the roof of the Sistine Chapel located in the complex of the Apostolic Palace, the official residence of the Pope in the Vatican, you do not have to fly to Italy—simply come to Taman Gili Kerta Gosa located in Kota Semarapura, the capital of Klungkung Regency. The paintings on the roof of the two buildings which adorn this garden are the original works of Klungkung artists. Compared to Michelangelo's paintings, these are quite small, but have the same feel. History and art are melded together here in this park, in the two heritage buildings of the Klungkung kingdom—also called the

Ani is a ruined medieval Armenian city-site situated in the Turkish province of Kars, near the border with Armenia.
Between 961 and 1045 it was the capital of the medieval (Bagratuni) Armenian Kingdom that covered much of present day Armenia and eastern Turkey. The city is located on a triangular site, visually dramatic and naturally defensive, protected on its eastern side by the ravine of the Akhurian River and on its western side by the Bostanlar or Tzaghkotzadzor valley. The Akhurian is a branch of the Araks River and forms part of th

History and art are melded together here in this park, in the two heritage buildings of the Klungkung kingdom—also called the Semarapura kingdom—one of the biggest kingdoms in Bali. Just like the ones on the roof of the Sistine Chapel. Are you

Vatican City - Twilight HD (2015)
Vatican City (Listeni/ˈvætɨkən ˈsɪti/), officially the Vatican City State (Italian: Stato della Città del Vaticano;[d] pronounced [ˈstaːto della t͡ʃitˈta (d)del vatiˈkaːno]; Latin: Status Civitatis Vaticanae) is a walled enclave within the city of Rome. With an area of approximately 44 hectares (110 acres), and a population of 842,[3] it is the smallest internationally recognized independent state in the world by both area and population.
It is an ecclesiastical[3] or sacerdotal-monarchical[7] state ruled by the Bishop of Rome — the Pope. The highest state functionaries are all Catholic clergy of various national origins. Since the return of the Popes from Avignon in 1377, they have generally resided at the Apostolic Palace within what is now Vatican City, although at times residing instead in the Quirinal Palace in Rome or elsewhere.
Vatican City is distinct from the Holy See (Latin: Sancta Sedes),[e] which dates back to early Christianity and is the main episcopal see of 1.2 billion Latin and Eastern Catholic adherents around the globe. The independent city-state, on the other hand, came into existence in 1929 by the Lateran Treaty between the Holy See and Italy, which spoke of it as a new creation,[8] not as a vestige of the much larger Papal States (756–1870), which had previously encompassed much of central Italy. According to the terms of the treaty, the Holy See has "full ownership, exclusive dominion, and sovereign authority and jurisdiction" over the city-state.[9]
Within Vatican City are cultural sites such as St. Peter's Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums. They feature some of the world's most famous paintings and sculptures. The unique economy of Vatican City is supported financially by the sale of postage stamps and tourist mementos, fees for admission to museums, and the sale of publications.

Ani Ruins - Kars - Turkey Travel Guide and Tours HD
World Travel https://www.youtube.com/user/World1Tube
Ani is a ruined medieval Armenian city-site situated in the Turkish province of Kars, near the border with Armenia.
Between 961 and 1045 it was the capital of the medieval (Bagratuni) Armenian Kingdom that covered much of present day Armenia and eastern Turkey. The city is located on a triangular site, visually dramatic and naturally defensive, protected on its eastern side by the ravine of the Akhurian River and on its western side by the Bostanlar or Tzaghkotzadzor valley. The Akhurian is a branch of the Araks River and forms part of the current border between Turkey and Armenia. Called the "City of 1001 Churches," Ani stood on various trade routes and its many religious buildings, palaces, and fortifications were amongst the most technically and artistically advanced structures in the world.
At its height, Ani had a population of 100,000--200,000 people and was the rival of Constantinople, Baghdad and Damascus. Long ago renowned for its splendor and magnificence, Ani was abandoned and largely forgotten following the earthquake of 1319.
History Ani Ruins, Kars, Turkey
=================
Etymology
Armenian chroniclers such as Yeghishe and Ghazar Parpetsi first mentioned Ani in the 5th century AD. They described it as a strong fortress built on a hilltop and a possession of the Armenian Kamsarakan dynasty. The city took its name from the Armenian fortress-city and pagan center of Ani-Kamakh located in the region of Daranaghi in Upper Armenia. Ani was also previously known as Khnamk (Խնամք), although historians are uncertain as to why it was called so. Johann Heinrich Hübschmann, a German philologist and linguist who studied the Armenian language, suggested that the word may have come from the Armenian word "khnamel" (խնամել), an infinitive which means "to take care of". Ani was also the diminutive name of ancient Armenian goddess Anahit who was seen as the mother-protector of Armenia
Cultural and economic center
Ani did not lie along any previously important trade routes, but because of its size, power, and wealth it became an important trading hub. Its primary trading partners were the Byzantine Empire, the Persian Empire, the Arabs, as well as smaller nations in southern Russia and Central Asia.
Sacking and desolation
Ani was attacked and sacked respectively by both Byzantine and Seljuk Turkish armies. For the former Byzantine attacks in 1044, Armenian historian Vardapet Aristakes wrote: "In these days Byzantine armies entered the land of Armenia four times in succession until they had rendered the whole country uninhabited through sword, fire, and captive taking.

Four tapestries designed by the Italian Renaissance artist Raphael for the Sistine Chapel are to go on display in London in September to coincide with Pope Benedict XVI's visit to the United Kingdom.
The tapestries will be shown for the first time alongside their full-size designs, known as "cartoons", which have been on display at London's Victoria and Albert Museum since 1865.
The Vatican Museum held a special advance viewing of the tapestries in the Sistine Chapel on Wednesday.
The tapestries were commissioned in 1515 by Pope Leo X and depict episodes from the lives of St Peter and St Paul.
They were woven in Brussels, Europe's leading centre for tapestry-weaving, and then sent to Rome for display.
The tapestries that will be exhibited in London are The Miraculous Draught of Fishes, Christ's Charge to Peter, The Healing of the Lame Man, and The Sacrifice at Lystra.
Raphael designed 10 tapestries to cover the lower walls of the Sistine Chapel below Michelangelo's famous painted ceiling.
The first seven were displayed in the Sistine Chapel in December 1519 with the other three arriving at the Vatican in 1521.
The tapestries are made of wool, silk and gold and silver thread and experts say they are a magnificent example of the Renaissance craft of using cloth and thread to create images that look as though they were painted.
Antonio Paolucci, the director of the Vatican Museum said the tapestry weaver had taken the design for each tapestry and "he manages to achieve with coloured silk and wool what the painter does with a brush."
Vatican Museums have been involved in a examination and restoration project on the tapestries since 1983.
The Raphael Cartoons belong to the Queen, but are on long-term loan to the museum because they are too fragile to be moved.
The exhibition at the Victoria and Albert museum will run from 8 September to 17 October 2010.
