Jack LONDON (1876 - 1916)
Martin Eden (1909) is a novel by American author Jack London, about a struggling young writer. It was first serialized in the Pacific Monthly magazine from September 1908 to September 1909, and subsequently published in book form by The Macmillan Company in September 1909.
This book is a favorite among writers, who relate to Martin Eden's speculation that when he mailed off a manuscript, 'there was no human editor at the other end, but a mere cunning arrangement of cogs that changed the manuscript from one envelope to another and stuck on the stamps,' returning it automatically with a rejection slip.
While some readers believe there is some resemblance between them, an important difference between Jack London and Martin Eden is that Martin Eden rejects socialism (attacking it as 'slave morality'), and relies on a Nietzschean individualism. In a note to Upton Sinclair, Jack London wrote, "One of my motifs, in this book, was an attack on individualism (in the person of the hero). I must have bungled, for not a single reviewer has discovered it." (Introduction by Wikipedia)

Sceneggiato RAI in cinque puntate, trasmesso nel 1979. tratto dall'omonimo romanzo di Jack London, pubblicato prima a puntate sulla rivista "Pacific Monthly" tra1908 e il 1909, e poi in forma di libro nel 1909. Gli interpreti principali furono Christopher Connelly, Delia Boccardo, Mimsy Farmer, Vittorio Mezzogiorno.
Racconta la storia di un marinaio di umile estrazione e di scarsa cultura, che lotta disperatamente per diventare uno scrittore affermato, in modo da poter sposare Ruth, una ragazza dell'alta borghesia di San Francisco. cosa che non sarebbe stata possibile a causa della differenza di classe fra i due giovani.
Ruth, che in un primo tempo ricambia l'amore di Martin, in un secondo tempo, su insistenza della sua famiglia, lo respinge. Martin è disperato, ma quasi contemporaneamente al rifiuto della ragazza, si verifica quel successo per cui aveva tanto lottato, e la ricchezza che ne consegue. A questo punto tutti coloro che lo avevano osteggiato e respinto, (ivi compresa la stessa Ruth) cambiano completamente atteggiamento. Martin non scrive più niente di nuovo, ma vende a peso d'oro tutto ciò che aveva scritto in precedenza, per cui ossessivamente si interroga sui motivi per cui quelli che lo dispezzavano ora facciano a gara per averlo ospite presso di loro.
La conclusione del romanzo è tragica: Martin si suicida affogandosi in mare, e così simbolicamente ritorna là da dove era venuto.

Jack London
John Griffith "Jack" London (born John Griffith Chaney, January 12, 1876 – November 22, 1916) was an American novelist, journalist, and social activist. A pioneer in the then-burgeoning world of commercial magazine fiction, he was one of the first fiction writers to obtain worldwide celebrity and a large fortune from his fiction alone.
Some of his most famous works include The Call of the Wild and White Fang, both set in the Klondike Gold Rush, as well as the short stories "To Build a Fire", "An Odyssey of the North", and "Love of Life". He also wrote of the South Pacific in such stories as "The Pearls of Parlay" and "The Heathen", and of the San Francisco Bay area in The Sea Wolf.
London was part of the radical literary group "The Crowd" in San Francisco and a passionate advocate of unionization, socialism, and the rights of workers. He wrote several powerful works dealing with these topics, such as his dystopian novel The Iron Heel, his non-fiction exposé The People of the Abyss, and The War of the Classes.

Manson was released from McNeil Island in 1967 and built up a fast relationship with Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson who let Manson live in his LA home next to Elvis and Jimmy Hendrix. The drifter criminal Charlie Manson suddenly found himself in Hollywood among all celebrities. And man they were mesmerised by Charlie. Not mistaken Charlie was a great musician wrote songs like Look at you game girl, My world, Invisible tears, Eyes of a dreamer or the song called Cease to exists (Never learn not to love you) which was released on the Beach Boys 20/20 album under Dennis Wilson's name. Charlie never got a Cent out of it.
So think this over once more please!
The man spent already almost 20 years in prisons of his then 32 years and he was released in 1967 and spent only 2 years outside and was involved such stars like Neil Young, Dennis Wilson and knew all the big names then. Is it normal? I dont think so. Manson was good. And he could sing like not many others that is why he ended up in Hollywood so quickly.
And the guy Manson supposedly a crazed cult leader but how the hell got he all his knowledge? He knows just about everything that goes on in the world if you check his interviews you will quickly arrive to the decision that the guy yes puts on an act but behind that act there is a very intelligent man. He speaks about Abraxas, Idi Amin, Mamma and Africa and all things are quite right what he says but you need to get through on your own prejudice and preconception. Thats when you will realise something else, that you missed before and will might understand more out of Manson and his story.

Martin Eden is a rough, uneducated, somewhat brutish man when we meet him.
Ruth Morse is impressed with his sheer power, physical appearance, but appalled by his use of words and the slang he keeps using.
Martin Eden feels like he has met a Goddess, not just resplendent and overwhelming, but smart as well.
He falls in love with the woman, notwithstanding his acute awareness that they belong to different worlds.
Martin Eden has been fighting and working hard all his life, traveling and sailing in rough conditions and neighborhoods.
He is quick tempered and has a reputation as a fierce fighter that nobody can defeat, with few exceptions.
He is also very appreciated by women, who seek his company and abandon their dates, to the chagrin of the men who lose them.
Ruth however is both intrigued and repulsed by this lower class individual.
The parents are terrified when, at a later stage, they get close to each other.
But long before that, Martin Eden sets on a difficult and long journey of self improvement.
He starts reading classics and many books, recommended mostly by Ruth, who becomes his mentor.
Alas, when Martin becomes a man of letters, she does not encourage him.
On the contrary, her position does much to depress the aspiring writer.
For after a period of learning and accumulation, Martin Eden starts writing poems, short stories and more.
He sends them to newspapers, which either ignore or refuse him.
For the first period, because things change.
He gets published but not paid.
In a hilarious encounter, he travels to the office of a publication that has stolen his intellectual property.
The editor and another manager try to escape and not pay the writer his due.
- I do not have it with me, but I will write you a check.
- Tell you what... First thing tomorrow
- I need the money now!!
Indeed, the young author has been through hell, not eating for days.
He had accumulated debts and humiliation beyond ordinary people's capacity to endure.
Ruth and others had insisted that he gets a job, or position as his love embellished the notion.
So he is ready to punch the thieves.
And he makes it literally clear that he will not stand down or retreat without his money.
When physically pressed, the men back down and Martin gets all they have in their pockets.
These villains had been doing this to everybody, never paying anything that they could avoid.
Nevertheless, at another office he has much less success and he is thrown down the stairs, but, good sport that he is, he drinks with his new buddies

Martin Eden is a rough, uneducated, somewhat brutish man when we meet him.
Ruth Morse is impressed with his sheer power, physical appearance, but appalled by his use of words and the slang he keeps using.
Martin Eden feels like he has met a Goddess, not just resplendent and overwhelming, but smart as well.
He falls in love with the woman, notwithstanding his acute awareness that they belong to different worlds.
Martin Eden has been fighting and working hard all his life, traveling and sailing in rough conditions and neighborhoods.
He is quick tempered and has a reputation as a fierce fighter that nobody can defeat, with few exceptions.
He is also very appreciated by women, who seek his company and abandon their dates, to the chagrin of the men who lose them.
Ruth however is both intrigued and repulsed by this lower class individual.
The parents are terrified when, at a later stage, they get close to each other.
But long before that, Martin Eden sets on a difficult and long journey of self improvement.
He starts reading classics and many books, recommended mostly by Ruth, who becomes his mentor.
Alas, when Martin becomes a man of letters, she does not encourage him.
On the contrary, her position does much to depress the aspiring writer.
For after a period of learning and accumulation, Martin Eden starts writing poems, short stories and more.
He sends them to newspapers, which either ignore or refuse him.
For the first period, because things change.
He gets published but not paid.
In a hilarious encounter, he travels to the office of a publication that has stolen his intellectual property.
The editor and another manager try to escape and not pay the writer his due.
- I do not have it with me, but I will write you a check.
- Tell you what... First thing tomorrow
- I need the money now!!
Indeed, the young author has been through hell, not eating for days.
He had accumulated debts and humiliation beyond ordinary people's capacity to endure.
Ruth and others had insisted that he gets a job, or position as his love embellished the notion.
So he is ready to punch the thieves.
And he makes it literally clear that he will not stand down or retreat without his money.
When physically pressed, the men back down and Martin gets all they have in their pockets.
These villains had been doing this to everybody, never paying anything that they could avoid.
Nevertheless, at another office he has much less success and he is thrown down the stairs, but, good sport that he is, he drinks with his new buddies
