Capitalism: A Love Story - Documentary
Capitalism: A Love Story is a 2009 American documentary film directed, written by and starring Michael Moore. The film centers on the late-2000s financial crisis and the recovery stimulus, while putting forward an indictment of the current economic order in the United States and capitalism in general.
Topics covered include Wall Street's "casino mentality", for-profit prisons, Goldman Sachs' influence in Washington, D.C., the poverty-level wages of many workers, the large wave of home foreclosures, corporate-owned life insurance, and the consequences of "runaway greed".
The film also features a religious component where Moore examines whether or not capitalism is a sin and if Jesus would be a capitalist, in order to shine light on the ideological contradictions among evangelical conservatives who support free market ideals.

Everybody talks about capitalism - but what is it? | Kajsa Ekis Ekman | TEDxAthens
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In the wake of the financial meltdown and the euro crisis, a new interest in understanding capitalism has surged. So what is this system? It has the power to transform rural societies into bustling urban metropoles in only a decade, foster innovation and new technologies - but one thing the system lacks is a plan. And as we face not only economic crisis, but a much bigger climate crisis, a plan is exactly what is needed.
Kajsa Ekis Ekman was born in Stockholm 1980. She is a journalist and author of two books, "Being and being bought" about trafficking in women, and "Stolen Spring" about the eurocrisis and its consequences for Greece. Her books have been translated into several languages and she lectures around the world about crisis theory, women's rights and Latin American politics. She is a critic at Sweden's major daily Dagens Nyheter and an op-ed writer for the newspaper ETC. She is the founder of the climate action movement Klimax and the solidarity network NFG.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

David Harvey "The End of Capitalism"
David Harvey, Professor of Geography and Anthropology
Graduate Center, City University of New York.
Three years after the near collapse of global financial markets, America is still struggling with unemployment, debt, and foreclosure, European governments are teetering on the brink of bankruptcy—and the world's billionaires are getting richer faster than ever before. The current situation is not sustainable. But what changes need to be made to overcome this mounting crisis of our world economic system? How radical an adaptation will be required? David Harvey, the brilliant theorist and scathing critic of postmodern society, looks at what the future holds for global capitalism.

Back in 1978, Kip Tindell (Chairman & CEO of The Container Store) and his partners had the vision that people were eager to find solutions to save both space and time - and they were definitely onto something. A new category of the retailing industry was born - storage and organization. Today, with stores nationwide and with more than 5,000 loyal employees, the company couldn't be stronger. "You're going to sell what? Empty Boxes?"
Over the years, The Container Store has been lauded for its commitment to its employees and focus on its original concept and inventory mix as the formula for its success. But for Tindell, the goal never has been growth for growth's sake. Rather, it is to adhere to the company's values-based business philosophies, which center on an employee-first culture, superior customer service and strict merchandising. The Container Store has been named on Fortune magazine's "100 Best Companies To Work For" list for 15 consecutive years. Even better, The Container Store has millions of loyal customers.
In Uncontainable, Tindell reveals his approach for building a business where everyone associated with it thrives through embodying the tenets of Conscious Capitalism. Tindell's seven Foundation Principles are the roadmap that drives everyone at The Container Store to achieve the goals of the company. Uncontainable shows how other businesses can adapt this approach toward what Tindell calls the most profitable, sustainable and fun way of doing business. Tindell is that rare CEO who fully embraces the "Golden Rule" of business - where all stakeholders - employees, customers, vendors, shareholder, the community - are successful through a harmonic balance of win-wins.

Buying Time The Delayed Crisis of Democratic Capitalism
Buying Time The Delayed Crisis of Democratic Capitalism
Donwload Here http://youtube.channel.pdf.warlords.xyz/?book=1781685487&maman;=boh8.html
The financial and economic crisis that began in 2008 still has the world on tenterhooks. The gravity of the situation is matched by a general paucity of understanding about what is happening and how it started.
In this book, based on his 2012 Adorno Lectures given in Frankfurt, Wolfgang Streeck places the crisis in the context of the long neoliberal transformation of postwar capitalism that began in the 1970s. He analyses the subsequent tensions and conflicts involving states, governments, voters and capitalist interests, as expressed in inflation, public debt, and rising private indebtedness. Streeck traces the transformation of the tax state into a debt state, and from there into the consolidation state of today. At the centre of the analysis is the changing relationship between capitalism and democracy, in Europe and elsewhere, and the advancing immunization of the former against the latter.

Saving Capitalism For the Many Not the Few
Saving Capitalism For the Many Not the Few
Donwload Here http://youtube.channel.pdf.warlords.xyz/?book=0385350570&jiady;=t3ba.html
From the author of Aftershock and The Work of Nations, his most important book to date—a myth-shattering breakdown of how the economic system that helped make America so strong is now failing us, and what it will take to fix it.
Perhaps no one is better acquainted with the intersection of economics and politics than Robert B. Reich, and now he reveals how power and influence have created a new American oligarchy, a shrinking middle class, and the greatest income inequality and wealth disparity in eighty years. He makes clear how centrally problematic our veneration of the “free market” is, and how it has masked the power of moneyed interests to tilt the market to their benefit.
Reich exposes the falsehoods that have been bolstered by the corruption of our democracy by huge corporations and the revolving door between Washington and Wall Street: that all workers are paid what they’re “worth,” that a higher minimum wage equals fewer jobs, and that corporations must serve shareholders before employees. He shows that the critical choices ahead are not about the size of government but about who government is for: that we must choose not between a free market and “big” government but between a market organized for broadly based prosperity and one designed to deliver the most gains to the top. Ever the pragmatist, ever the optimist, Reich sees hope for reversing our slide toward inequality and diminished opportunity when we shore up the countervailing power of everyone else.
Passionate yet practical, sweeping yet exactingly argued, Saving Capitalism is a revelatory indictment of our economic status quo and an empowering call to civic action.

The European Economy since 1945 Coordinated Capitalism and Beyond The Princeton Economic
Donwload Here http://youtube.channel.pdf.warlords.xyz/?book=0691138486&mijok;=blb.html
In 1945, many Europeans still heated with coal, cooled their food with ice, and lacked indoor plumbing. Today, things could hardly be more different. Over the second half of the twentieth century, the average European's buying power tripled, while working hours fell by a third. The European Economy since 1945 is a broad, accessible, forthright account of the extraordinary development of Europe's economy since the end of World War II. Barry Eichengreen argues that the continent's history has been critical to its economic performance, and that it will continue to be so going forward.
Challenging standard views that basic economic forces were behind postwar Europe's success, Eichengreen shows how Western Europe in particular inherited a set of institutions singularly well suited to the economic circumstances that reigned for almost three decades. Economic growth was facilitated by solidarity-centered trade unions, cohesive employers' associations, and growth-minded governments--all legacies of Europe's earlier history. For example, these institutions worked together to mobilize savings, finance investment, and stabilize wages.
However, this inheritance of economic and social institutions that was the solution until around 1973--when Europe had to switch from growth based on brute-force investment and the acquisition of known technologies to growth based on increased efficiency and innovation--then became the problem.
Thus, the key questions for the future are whether Europe and its constituent nations can now adapt their institutions to the needs of a globalized knowledge economy, and whether in doing so, the continent's distinctive history will be an obstacle or an asset.

The Mystery of Capital Why Capitalism Triumphs in the West and Fails Everywhere Else
The Mystery of Capital Why Capitalism Triumphs in the West and Fails Everywhere Else
Donwload Here http://youtube.channel.pdf.warlords.xyz/?book=0465016154&ferds;=p2i.html
"The hour of capitalism's greatest triumph," writes Hernando de Soto, "is, in the eyes of four-fifths of humanity, its hour of crisis." In The Mystery of Capital, the world-famous Peruvian economist takes up the question that, more than any other, is central to one of the most crucial problems the world faces today: Why do some countries succeed at capitalism while others fail?In strong opposition to the popular view that success is determined by cultural differences, de Soto finds that it actually has everything to do with the legal structure of property and property rights. Every developed nation in the world at one time went through the transformation from predominantly informal, extralegal ownership to a formal, unified legal property system. In the West we've forgotten that creating this system is also what allowed people everywhere to leverage property into wealth. This persuasive book will revolutionize our understanding of capital and point the way to a major transformation of the world economy.

The Great Deformation The Corruption of Capitalism in America
The Great Deformation The Corruption of Capitalism in America
Donwload Here http://youtube.channel.pdf.warlords.xyz/?book=1586489127&ferds;=ddu.html
A New York Times bestsellerThe Great Deformation is a searing look at Washington’s craven response to the recent myriad of financial crises and fiscal cliffs. It counters conventional wisdom with an eighty-year revisionist history of how the American stateespecially the Federal Reservehas fallen prey to the politics of crony capitalism and the ideologies of fiscal stimulus, monetary central planning, and financial bailouts. These forces have left the public sector teetering on the edge of political dysfunction and fiscal collapse and have caused America’s private enterprise foundation to morph into a speculative casino that swindles the masses and enriches the few.Defying right- and left-wing boxes, David Stockman provides a catalogue of corrupters and defenders of sound money, fiscal rectitude, and free markets. The former includes Franklin Roosevelt, who fathered crony capitalism; Richard Nixon, who destroyed national financial discipline and the Bretton Woods gold-backed dollar; Fed chairmen Greenspan and Bernanke, who fostered our present scourge of bubble finance and addiction to debt and speculation; George W. Bush, who repudiated fiscal rectitude and ballooned the warfare state via senseless wars; and Barack Obama, who revived failed Keynesian borrow and spend” policies that have driven the national debt to perilous heights. By contrast, the book also traces a parade of statesmen who championed balanced budgets and financial market discipline including Carter Glass, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, Bill Simon, Paul Volcker, Bill Clinton, and Sheila Bair.Stockman’s analysis skewers Keynesian spenders and GOP tax-cutters alike, showing how they converged to bloat the welfare state, perpetuate the military-industrial complex, and deplete the revenue baseeven as the Fed’s massive money printing allowed politicians to enjoy deficits without tears.” But these policies have also fueled new financial bubbles and favored Wall Street with cheap money and rigged stock and bond markets, while crushing Main Street savers and punishing family budgets with soaring food and energy costs. The Great Deformation explains how we got here and why these warped, crony capitalist policies are an epochal threat to free market prosperity and American political democracy.

Crafts, Capitalism, and Women by Ronald J. Duncan Ebook PDF
Crafts, Capitalism, and Women by Ronald J. Duncan Ebook PDF
Click http://bit.ly/1QvUtd4
Author: Ronald J. Duncan
Publish: 2000
"A compelling, comprehensive description and analysis of the traditions, socioeconomic parameters, and ceramic styles found in a contemporary pottery-making community located in an understudied region of Latin America. The author's impressive documentation of the cultural and economic changes occurring in La Chamba, Colombia, provide an especially valuable assessment useful to students of anthropology, craft technology, economics, history, gender studies, art history, and cultural dynamics, as well as ceramic studies."--Charles C. Kolb, National Endowment for the Humanities Focusing on people of indigenous and mestizo descent in Colombia, Ronald Duncan documents how the global economy extends the labor exploitation that began with their defeat by the Spanish. He argues that the treatment of home-based craft workers that occurs today among women and children in La Chamba and other areas of Latin America is structurally similar to the slavery and indentured servitude that followed the Conquest. Women potters of La Chamba make some of the most beautifully finished ceramics of South America, as this book's photographs and illustrations demonstrate, and they have been doing so for more than a millennium. Grandmothers make traditional cooking pots, mothers make utilitarian bowls for sale to urban families, and daughters make one-of-a-kind art pieces on special order. But even though their work is exported to Europe and the United States, the potters are paid less than the minimum wage for their work. Despite being part of the booming global economy, the women reap precious few of its rewards. A companion volume to Duncan's Ceramics of Ráquira, Colombia, this book continues his analysis of how capitalism is used to reinforce a strict traditional caste system that ensures profits for the business class. Equally compelling is the history and description of the heroic survival of indigenous culture in this hybrid society, as it adapts to contemporary economic realities. Ronald J. Duncan is professor of anthropology and museum management at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. He is the author of The Ceramics of Ráquira, Colombia: Gender, Work, and Economic Change (UPF, 1998).

At the famous Oxford Union, Mehdi Hasan challenges former top financial regulator Lord Adair Turner on the role of the banks, the politics behind austerity and whether capitalism has failed.

Capitalism: A Love Story
Exactly one year and a day after the initial Wall Street bailout, Michael Moore (SICKO, FAHRENHEIT 9/11) looks at the global financial crisis and the U.S. economy during the transition between the incoming Obama Administration and the outgoing Bush Administration. In standard Moore fashion, he mockingly draws attention to the Wall Street and Government decisions that have enabled what he calls "the biggest robbery in the history of this country."

Richard D. Wolff

“Basic Economic Changes Today: Within and Beyond Capitalism”
Judson Memorial Church
Assembly Hall
239 Thompson Street at
Washington Square, Manhattan
Co-sponsored by Democracy at Work, Left Forum, and Judson Memorial Church
These programs begin with 30 minutes of short updates on important economic events of the last month. Then Wolff analyzes several major economic issues. For this April 8, these will include:
1. Basic Economic Changes: From Anti-austerity to Anti-capitalism
2. Social Polarization: From “we are all middle class” to “1% versus 99%”
3. Changing “higher education” into “job training” – why, how and for whose gain?
When time permits, we open the floor to questions and comments. Our goal: to develop all participants’ understanding and ability to explain current economic events and trends to others.

"Capitalism A Love Story", Michael Moore Français
