Sharm El-Sheikh lies on the Sinai Peninsula opposite or Hurghada. This is the new holiday Capital of Egypt which awaits vacationers arriving to see the coral reefs of the Red Sea, but it's also a perfect place to start an excursion to Biblical Monuments of the Peninsula. Together with the Na'ama and the Shark Bays, Sharm El-Sheikh became a tourist center only in the last decade. Tourist can familiarize themselves with characteristic Egyptian souvenirs on the coastal shopping street of the city.
The main role is played by the water pipes or shishas which are perfect as an ornament. The statues depict Pharaohs and Egyptian gods, and the baskets of the street merchants are full of spices. Arabian clothes are very popular as well as T-shirts printed with local motifs, and bottles filled with colored sand from the desert. The caricature-like ceramics depicting the everyday Arab life are really extraordinary. One can combine an eventful though tiring Archaeological tour with a holiday providing full relaxation. The hotel prices are very good, the weather very warm from spring to autumn, and moreover, the holiday centers of Egypt can be reached easily from all over Europe since Sharm El-Sheikh has its own International Airport. The level of service is usually a pleasant surprise to those who have never been to Egypt before.
A name of the customers' choice can be carved or written on copper plates or papyrus with either Egyptian hieroglyphs or Latin letters. Since most hotels have their own beaches, public beaches are very rare, however there are some in Na'ama Bay. The pride of the growing city is the palm tree lane behind the hotels and the brand new Islamic mosque built for the Arabs working and living here.
The old market was a bazaar at the time when only fisherman lived here. Fishing nets and storm lanterns can still be purchased at the market. Formerly, it was only a vegetable and fruit market, but for the sake of tourists, the supply was broaden by copper plates and silverware, papyrus, alabaster statues, and postcards.
Near the grocery store, a goat is begging and willing to be photographed, fully aware of its special status.
The hotels here are made up of long buildings, not high skyscrapers. The buildings and apartments are situated in beautiful parks surrounding uniquely designed pools. The hotels have their own beaches with not only the possibility to rent water sports equipment but to take diving and surfing lessons as well. There are two ways of diving, the simpler one is with the goggles and the pipe and is called snorkeling, while the other one is done in a diving suit with and oxygen tank and is called scuba diving. Both sports can be practiced in the Red Sea and the necessary can be rented or purchased.

Welcome to Africa. We are here in Egypt to make a series of shows on the Red Sea and the treasures of ancient Egypt. With the fantastic array of both underwater and monumental treasures that Egypt has to offer, we simply could not get it done in one show.
In this Dive Travel Adventure we are going to visit the main gateway of Cairo, with its iconic Pyramids and then travel into Asia and the Sinai Peninsula to the Red Sea resorts of bustling Sharm El Sheikh and laid back Dahab.
In our other shows we visit Luxor and the Eastern Desert region featuring undiscovered diving at the 'Jewel of the Red Sea' -El Quseir.
In another show, we sail off on the live-aboard Bella 1, exploring the myriad of wrecks in the south of the Gulf of Suez.

Egypt Travel Guide - Egypt (Arabic: مصر; officially, the Arab Republic of Egypt) is in north-eastern Africa with its capital located in its largest city, Cairo. Egypt also extends into Asia by virtue of holding the Sinai Peninsula. Egypt is bordered by Israel and the Gaza Strip to the north-east, by Sudan to the south and by Libya to the west. The regularity and richness of the annual Nile River flood, coupled with semi-isolation provided by deserts to the east and west, allowed for the development of one of the world's great civilizations. A unified kingdom arose around 3200 B.C. and a series of dynasties ruled in Egypt for the next three millennia. The last native dynasty fell to the Persians in 341 B.C., who in turn were replaced by the Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines. It was the Arabs who introduced Islam and the Arabic language in the 7th century and who ruled for the next six centuries. A local military caste, the Mamluks, took control about 1250 and continued to govern after the conquest of Egypt by the Ottoman Turks in 1517. Following the completion of the Suez Canal in 1869, Egypt became an important world transportation hub, but also fell heavily into debt. Ostensibly to protect its investments, Britain seized control of Egypt's government in 1882, but nominal allegiance to the Ottoman Empire continued until 1914. Partially independent from the UK in 1922. The completion of the Aswan High Dam in 1971 and the resultant Lake Nasser have altered the time-honored place of the Nile River in agriculture and the ecology of Egypt. A rapidly growing population (the largest in the Arab world), limited arable land, and dependence on the Nile all continue to overtax resources and stress society. The government has struggled to prepare the economy for the new millennium through economic reform and massive investment in communications and physical infrastructure.

Retracing Moses' Steps In A Once-In-A-Lifetime Spiritual Journey
NOVEMBER 11, 2010—AT ONE o’clock in the morning about 3 dozens of us from our group of 50+ Filipino pilgrims started our attempt to hike to the summit of Mt. Sinai (2,640+ MASL) from the St. Catherine Monastery in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt. Unknown to us until a few hours later, at least a thousand other people from all over the world were hiking to the summit that very same morning. It was, after all, a typical day in Mt. Sinai.
The Sinai Peninsula is for most parts, a desert. Mount Sinai, at 2,640+ meters above sea level, is quite a high-altitude place. Between 1am to 5am, temperatures can go down to 5-10 degrees Celsius. It was a long and chilly hike.
It was pitch black, too. Although some of us had flashlights and head lamps, we could see only a few meters in any direction. We didn’t know how wide a trail we were walking on, or how high the cliffs beside the trail are.
We could see other groups of hikers ahead of us and behind through the faint light from their flashlights and headlamps. They were like fireflies moving together in small groups following a seemingly invisible path up the mountain.
There are basically two ways to hike to the summit of Mt. Sinai. You can walk, or you can hire a local Bedouin guide with his camel and ride to the summit in style.
We opted to walk to fully experience the hike. Hiring a Bedouin guide and his camel was not really that expensive, but we needed to stay together with our group at all times. Also we were told that if you are not used to it, riding a camel, especially in a high-altitude hike, could be a very dizzying experience.
To most Christians like us, a hike to Mount Sinai’s summit is more than just an ordinary mountain hike. It is a spiritual experience. When we hear of Sinai we automatically associate it with the biblical Moses and the story of the Ten Commandments.
Our hike to Mount Sinai on November 11, 2010 WAS one such spiritual experience. I’m not very good at articulating spiritual experiences but I can tell you that it was one of the most profound spiritual experiences I ever had.

The Sinai Peninsula has a lot to offer tourist's. Sharm El Sheikh is is a charming city with a small town atmosphere. The waters of the Red Sea are stunningly beautiful with pristine coral reefs and crystal clear waters . The Red Sea is considered one of the best dive sites in the world. The Ras Mohammed National Park, 12 km from Sharm El Sheikh, overlooks Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba. You can venture up the coast toward Israel to Nuweiba and visit the Fortress of Tarabin, built in 1506.
Ruth and I spent several days in the Sinai before taking a ferry to Aqaba in Jordan.

A unified kingdom arose around 3200 B.C. and a series of dynasties ruled in Egypt for the next three millennia. The last native dynasty fell to the Persians in 341 B.C., who in turn were replaced by the Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines. It was the Arabs who introduced Islam and the Arabic language in the 7th century and who ruled for the next six centuries. A local military caste, the Mamluks, took control about 1250 and continued to govern after the conquest of Egypt by the Ottoman Turks in 1517. Following the completion of the Suez Canal in 1869, Egypt became an important world transportation hub, but also fell heavily into debt. Ostensibly to protect its investments, Britain seized control of Egypt's government in 1882, but nominal allegiance to the Ottoman Empire continued until 1914. Partially independent from the UK in 1922. The completion of the Aswan High Dam in 1971 and the resultant Lake Nasser have altered the time-honored place of the Nile River in agriculture and the ecology of Egypt. A rapidly growing population (the largest in the Arab world), limited arable land, and dependence on the Nile all continue to overtax resources and stress society. The government has struggled to prepare the economy for the new millennium through economic reform and massive investment in communications and physical infrastructure. Retracing Moses' Steps In A Once-In-A-Lifetime Spiritual Journey NOVEMBER 11, 2010—AT ONE o’clock in the morning about 3 dozens of us from our group of 50+ Filipino pilgrims started our attempt to hike to the summit of Mt. Sinai (2,640+ MASL) from the St. Catherine Monastery in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt. Unknown to us until a few hours later, at least a thousand other people from all over the world were hiking to the summit that very same morning. It was, after all, a typical day in Mt. Sinai. The Sinai Peninsula is for most parts, a desert. Mount Sinai, at 2,640+ meters above sea level, is quite a high-altitude place. Between 1am to 5am, temperatures can go down to 5-10 degrees Celsius. It was a long and chilly hike. It was pitch black, too. Although some of us had flashlights and head lamps, we could see only a few meters in any direction. We didn’t know how wide a trail we were walking on, or how high the cliffs beside the trail are. We could see other groups of hikers ahead of us and behind through the faint light from their flashlights and headlamps. They were like fireflies moving together in small groups following a seemingly invisible path up the mountain. There are basically two ways to hike to the summit of Mt. Sinai. You can walk, or you can hire a local Bedouin guide with his camel and ride to the summit in style. We opted to walk to fully experience the hike. Hiring a Bedouin guide and his camel was not really that expensive, but we needed to stay together with our group at all times. Also we were told that if you are not used to it, riding a camel, especially in a high-altitude hike, could be a very dizzying experience. To most Christians like us, a hike to Mount Sinai’s summit is more than just an ordinary mountain hike. It is a spiritual experience. When we hear of Sinai we automatically associate it with the biblical Moses and the story of the Ten Commandments. Our hike to Mount Sinai on November 11, 2010 WAS one such spiritual experience. I’m not very good at articulating spiritual experiences but I can tell you that it was one of the most profound spiritual experiences I ever had. You can venture up the coast toward Israel to Nuweiba and visit the Fortress of Tarabin, built in 1506. Ruth and I spent several days in the Sinai before taking a ferry to Aqaba in Jordan. The hotel prices are very good, the weather very warm from spring to autumn, and moreover, the holiday centers of Egypt can be reached easily from all over Europe since Sharm El-Sheikh has its own International Airport. The level of service is usually a pleasant surprise to those who have never been to Egypt before.

Formerly, it was only a vegetable and fruit market, but for the sake of tourists, the supply was broaden by copper plates and silverware, papyrus, alabaster statues, and postcards.
Near the grocery store, a goat is begging and willing to be photographed, fully aware of its special status.
The hotels here are made up of long buildings, not high skyscrapers. The buildings and apartments are situated in beautiful parks surrounding uniquely designed pools. The hotels have their own beaches with not only the possibility to rent water sports equipment but to take diving and surfing lessons as well. There are two ways of diving, the simpler one is with the goggles and the pipe and is called snorkeling, while the other one is done in a diving suit with and oxygen tank and is called scuba diving. Both sports can be practiced in the Red Sea and the necessary can be rented or purchased.

The country is bounded by the Mediterranean and Red Seas (to the north and east respectively) and geographically dominated both by the Nile River and its fertile well-watered valley, and by the Eastern and Western deserts.
Egypt is perhaps best known as the home of the ancient Egyptian civilization, with its temples, hieroglyphs, mummies, and - visible above all - its pyramids. Less well-known is Egypt's medieval heritage, courtesy of Coptic Christianity and Islam - ancient churches, monasteries and mosques punctuate the Egyptian landscape. Retracing Moses' Steps In A Once-In-A-Lifetime Spiritual Journey
NOVEMBER 11, 2010—AT ONE o’clock in the morning about 3 dozens of us from our group of 50+ Filipino pilgrims started our attempt to hike to the summit of Mt. Sinai (2,640+ MASL) from the St. Catherine Monastery in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt. Unknown to us until a few hours later, at least a thousand other people from all over the world were hiking to the summit that very same morning. It was, after all, a typical day in Mt. Sinai.
The Sinai Peninsula is for most parts, a desert. Mount Sinai, at 2,640+ meters above sea level, is quite a high-altitude place. Between 1am to 5am, temperatures can go down to 5-10 degrees Celsius. It was a long and chilly hike.
It was pitch black, too. Although some of us had flashlights and head lamps, we could see only a few meters in any direction. We didn’t know how wide a trail we were walking on, or how high the cliffs beside the trail are.
We could see other groups of hikers ahead of us and behind through the faint light from their flashlights and headlamps. They were like fireflies moving together in small groups following a seemingly invisible path up the mountain.
There are basically two ways to hike to the summit of Mt. Sinai. You can walk, or you can hire a local Bedouin guide with his camel and ride to the summit in style.
We opted to walk to fully experience the hike. Hiring a Bedouin guide and his camel was not really that expensive, but we needed to stay together with our group at all times. Also we were told that if you are not used to it, riding a camel, especially in a high-altitude hike, could be a very dizzying experience.
To most Christians like us, a hike to Mount Sinai’s summit is more than just an ordinary mountain hike. It is a spiritual experience. When we hear of Sinai we automatically associate it with the biblical Moses and the story of the Ten Commandments.
Our hike to Mount Sinai on November 11, 2010 WAS one such spiritual experience. I’m not very good at articulating spiritual experiences but I can tell you that it was one of the most profound spiritual experiences I ever had.

You can venture up the coast toward Israel to Nuweiba and visit the Fortress of Tarabin, built in 1506.
Ruth and I spent several days in the Sinai before taking a ferry to Aqaba in Jordan.

Wonders Through Sinai Peninsula, The Asia Side of Egypt
Winter Break holidays in Egypt spent by visiting Sinai or Saina' Peninsula. We visit St. Catherine in which there are two tombs; Prophet Haroun and Prophet Soleh, and stood there a sculpture resembling a cow called The Golden Calf of Samiri. Then we went to Moses' Spring, sightseeing and shopping at Dahab. We also enjoy our ATV ride twice, first at Dahab and second at Sharm el-Sheikh. Last but not least, we went form the land to the sea and enjoying our first time scuba diving as well as snorkeling. Not to mention Salahuddin al-Ayyubi's Fort situated at the border of Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt. Theme song by Coldplay - Viva La Vida; in which I have no rights on it.

NEGEV REGION, ISRAEL — Militants in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula fired rockets into southern Israel on Friday in an incident that caused no casualties but appeared to be connected to fighting between Islamist insurgents and Egyptian security forces, Reuters said. We visit St. Catherine in which there are two tombs; Prophet Haroun and Prophet Sole...
Winter Break holidays in Egypt spent by visiting Sinai or Saina' Peninsula.
We visit St. Catherine in which there are two tombs; Prophet Haroun and Prophet Soleh, and stood there a sculpture resembling a cow called The Golden Calf of Samiri.
Then we went to Moses' Spring, sightseeing and shopping at Dahab.
We also enjoy our ATV ride twice, first at Dahab and second at Sharm el-Sheikh.
Last but not least, we went form the land to the sea and enjoying our first time scuba diving as well as snorkeling.
Not to mention Salahuddin al-Ayyubi's Fort situated at the border of Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt.

NEGEV REGION, ISRAEL — Militants in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula fired rockets into southern Israel on Friday in an incident that caused no casualties but appeared to be connected to fighting between Islamist insurgents and Egyptian security forces, Reuters said.
Islamic State’s Egypt affiliate, Sinai Province, claimed in a statement on Twitter by supporters that it had launched three Grad rockets toward “occupied Palestine”.
The group said it acted in retaliation for what it feels is Israeli support for Egyptian military.
An Israeli military source said the rockets had been fired from Sinai.
Israeli officials said they found pieces from two rockets in an open area in Israel’s Negev region. No casualties or damage were reported.
Dozens of people have been killed in the past few days of clashes and airstrikes in the region, according to Reuters.
It was possible the rocket attack was linked to fighting in the Sinai, the military source told Reuters, where militants launched their biggest coordinated attack in years against Egyptian security forces on Wednesday.
Militants, including those from Sinai Province - formerly known as Ansar Bayt al-Maqdi - have fired rockets into Israel from Sinai on other occasions in the past.
