The Arabian Peninsula (Arabic: شبه الجزيرة العربية šibh al-jazīrat al-ʻarabīya or جزيرة العرب Ǧazīrat al 'Arab) is a land mass situated north-east of Africa. Also known as Arabia or the Arabian subcontinent, it is the world's largest peninsula and covers 3,237,500 km2 (1,250,000 mi2). The area is an important part of the Asian continent and plays a critical geopolitical role of the Middle East and Arab World due to its vast reserves of oil and natural gas. The peninsula formed as a result of the rifting of the Red Sea between 56-23 million years ago, and is bordered by the Red Sea to the west, the Persian Gulf to the northeast, and the Indian Ocean to the southeast.
The Arabian Peninsula is located in the Asia continent and bounded by (clockwise) the Persian Gulf on the northeast, the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman on the east, the Arabian Sea on the southeast and south, the Gulf of Aden on the south, the Bab-el-Mandeb strait on the southwest, and the Red Sea on the southwest and west. The northern portion of the peninsula merges with the Syrian Desert with no clear border line, although the northern boundary of the Arabian Peninsula is generally considered to be the northern borders of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

David William Donald Cameron (pronunciation: /ˈkæmərən/; born 9 October 1966) is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, First Lord of the Treasury, Minister for the Civil Service and Leader of the Conservative Party. He represents Witney as its Member of Parliament (MP).
Cameron studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Oxford, gaining a first class honours degree. He then joined the Conservative Research Department and became Special Adviser to Norman Lamont, and then to Michael Howard. He was Director of Corporate Affairs at Carlton Communications for seven years.
He was defeated in his first candidacy for Parliament at Stafford in 1997, but was elected in 2001 as the Member of Parliament for the Oxfordshire constituency of Witney. He was promoted to the Opposition front bench two years later, and rose rapidly to become head of policy co-ordination during the 2005 general election campaign. With a public image of a youthful, moderate candidate who would appeal to young voters, he won the Conservative leadership election in 2005.

A dangerous love triangle ensues as Satine and Christian attempt to fight all odds to stay together but a force that not even love can conquer is taking its toll on Satine...

The main reason is because the two holy mosques are located in the country and that would be blasphemous for churches or other places of worship to exist there.
Furthermore, if anyone converts from Islam or abandons religion, they face the death penalty.
3) Cinemas
Cinemas are prohibited and they are only located within private company compounds, such as theaters at Saudi Aramco residential camps.
The usual reason given for banning them is that they allow for men and women to mingle unsupervised, leading to possible immoral actions outside the realm of marriage.
2) Women driving
Women have never been allowed to drive unless they drive in the desert or inside private compounds.
The main arguments for preventing women from driving are that it may cause women to leave their houses more often than they need to, they may have interactions with unrelated males and the need to uncover their faces.
1) Valentine’s Day
Every February 14th entails the same procedure: flower shops and gift shops are prohibited from selling red roses, anything heart-shaped or red.
The penalty for violating that rule would lead to the store being shut down. Also on that day, schoolgirls are prohibited from wearing anything red.
The usual reasoning for banning anything red on Valentine’s Day is to discourage people from celebrating it (as it is not an Islamic occasion) and to prevent people dating or from having any contact outside marriage.

The largest peninsula in the world was fractured from the rest of Africa more than 35 million years ago. Few people realize that Arabia is not just desert but mountains and gorgeous coastline. This video sets out to examine each of the three ecosystems at work here and how they interrelate. Beginning with the Red Sea, where coral reefs stretch for miles, the video looks at zebra sole, jellyfish, sea fans, and pistol shrimp, who are among the inhabitants of this underwater garden. Then it's off to the mountains, where tropical vegetation attracts an Abyssinian roller, baboons, fruit bats, and lizards who turn from mottled brown to fluorescent blue. In the south Arabian sand desert, viewers join a Bedouin family and their herd of 90 camels. They travel 100 miles a day at 11 miles per hour. This video is an excellent overview and succeeds in showing the diversity of topography and wildlife in Arabia.

The Republic Of Yemen covers a large part of the southwest of the Arabian Peninsula and contains several fascinating historical sites. East of Sanaa on the ancient Frankincense route, is the town of Marib that was once the residence of the legendary Queen Of Saba and in the extreme north is the town of Sadah, a region known for its powerful tribes. In the centre of the Djebel Harraz is the picturesque mountain village of Manakhah. Due to its location it was once a strategic point on the ancient trading route between the sea and the highlands. The breathtaking architecture of its buildings still testifies to the former prosperity of a village that today is well known for its popular market. Al Hudaydah was once the most important Turkish harbour on the Red Sea. The city was a commercial rival of the British occupied city of Aden to the south which, during colonial times, was of great importance in securing a sea route to India. In addition to the recent modernisation of the harbour the fishing industry still plays an important role and the fertile coastal waters of the Red Sea still ensure a good catch. To the south of Al Hudaydah is the legendary old harbour of Al Mokha, the former centre of the country’s coffee trade from which the world renowned Mocha coffee derived its name. Despite their present poverty the people here are a proud race and the ancient name of the Yemen, Arabia Felix, or “Arabia The Content”, is still a thing of the present.

Nizwa, the religious center of the Omans, has a moving past that manifests itself in the city’s defensive fortress. Until the 12th century it was the capital of the Desert State of Oman. Even today this oasis city and trading metropolis has lost none of its former importance. Al-Hamra is the name of a three hundred year old oasis village that dates back to the reign of Imam Saif Bin Sultan. At the end of the 17th century members of the Abriyin Tribe settled here the descendants of whom still live in the Jebal-Akhdar Mountains. Al-Hamra means ‘The Red One’, an Arabic name that is also to be found in the word ‘Alhambra’, in Spain’s Granada. The Sultanate Of Oman is a treasure trove of rarities. The ultimate indulgence though is visiting their Spa Dreaming Centre for any one of their signature treatments. I was taken u to their Arabian marquee (incredible by the way!) and enjoyed a massage, scrub and facial. This is seriously the most amazing day spa experience I have ever had.

Peninsula Hot Springs are a unique and invigorating experience in the rolling hills of the Mornington Peninsula.
They source the mineral water from natural hot springs 637m below ground. This water comes out at a warm 50°C and then is cooled down to various temperatures between 37°C and 43°C so everyone can find a pool at a temperature that is comfortable for them.
The thermal waters in these pools are also full of minerals and are considered to have healing qualities for the body.

A typical common name is baobab. The generic name honours Michel Adanson, the French naturalist and explorer who described Adansonia digitata.
Adansonias reach heights of 5 to 30 m (16 to 98 ft) and have trunk diameters of 7 to 11 m (23 to 36 ft). The Glencoe baobab, a specimen of A. digitata in Limpopo Province, South Africa, was considered to be the largest living individual, with a maximum circumference of 47 m (154 ft)[4] and a diameter of about 15.9 m (52 ft). The tree has since split into two parts, so the widest individual trunk may now be that of the Sunland baobab, or Platland tree, also in South Africa. The diameter of this tree at ground level is 9.3 m (31 ft) and its circumference at breast height is 34 m (112 ft).[5]
Adansonia trees produce faint growth rings, probably annually, but they are not reliable for aging specimens, because they are difficult to count and may fade away as the wood ages. Radiocarbon dating has provided data on a few individuals. A specimen of A. digitata known as Grootboom was dated and found to be at least 1275 years old, making it among the oldest known angiosperm trees (but not as old as Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi).

In former times the Real Alcázar was the residence of the region’s Arabic rulers but most of its buildings were constructed during the reign of Peter The Cruel. Casa De Pilatos is one of the most beautiful palatial buildings in Seville. The residence of the Dukes of Medinacelli was built between 1492 and 1520 following a pilgrimage by one of the dukes to the Holy Land. On his return journey, following the same route that the first Marqués of Tarifa took through Italy, he brought back several valuable columns and fountains made of carrara marble that today adorn the beautiful exterior and gardens of the residence. The shoreline of the Guadalquivir River in the land of flamenco is full of life and joie de vivre. The true heart of Spain surely lies in Andalusia in the hot southern region of the Iberian Peninsula.

Riyadh is the capital of Saudi Arabia and its largest city. It is also the capital of Riyadh Province, and belongs to the historical regions of Nejd and Al-Yamama. It is situated in the center of the Arabian Peninsula on a large plateau, and is home to over 4,260,000 people.
The city is divided into 15 municipal districts, managed by Riyadh Municipality headed by the mayor of Riyadh, and the Riyadh Development Authority, chaired by the Governor of Riyadh Province, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz.
The current mayor of Riyadh is Abdul Aziz ibn Ayyaf Al Migrin, appointed in 1998.

The area of modern-day Saudi Arabia formerly consisted of four distinct regions: Hejaz, Najd, and parts of Eastern Arabia (Al-Ahsa) and Southern Arabia ('Asir).[10] The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded in 1932 by Ibn Saud. He united the four regions into a single state through a series of conquests beginning in 1902 with the capture of Riyadh, the ancestral home of his family, the House of Saud. The country has since been an absolute monarchy governed along Islamic lines. Wahhabi Islam has been called "the predominant feature of Saudi culture".[11][12] Saudi Arabia is sometimes called "the Land of the Two Holy Mosques" in reference to Al-Masjid al-Haram (in Mecca), and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (in Medina), the two holiest places in Islam. The Kingdom has a total population of 28.7 million, of which 20 million are Saudi nationals and 8 million are foreigners.[13][14][15]

Saudi Arabia[c] (Listeni/ˌsɔːdiː əˈreɪbiə/, Listeni/ˌsaʊ-/), officially known as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,[d] is the largest Arab state in Western Asia by land area (approximately 2,150,000 km2 (830,000 sq mi)), constituting the bulk of the Arabian Peninsula, and the second-largest geographically in the Arab world. It is bordered by Jordan and Iraq to the north, Kuwait to the northeast, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates to the east, Oman to the southeast, and Yemen in the south. It is the only nation with both a Red Sea coast and a Persian Gulf coast, and most of its terrain consists of arid inhospitable desert or barren landforms.
The area of modern-day Saudi Arabia formerly consisted of four distinct regions: Hejaz, Najd, and parts of Eastern Arabia (Al-Ahsa) and Southern Arabia ('Asir).[10] The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded in 1932 by Ibn Saud. He united the four regions into a single state through a series of conquests beginning in 1902 with the capture of Riyadh, the ancestral home of his family, the House of Saud. The country has since been an absolute monarchy governed along Islamic lines. Wahhabi Islam has been called "the predominant feature of Saudi culture".[11][12] Saudi Arabia is sometimes called "the Land of the Two Holy Mosques" in reference to Al-Masjid al-Haram (in Mecca), and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (in Medina), the two holiest places in Islam. The Kingdom has a total population of 28.7 million, of which 20 million are Saudi nationals and 8 million are foreigners.[13][14][15]

Saudi Arabia is having a bad year on the human rights front. In the past few months, the U.S. ally has drawn widespread condemnation for sentencing a blogger to 1,000 lashes with a cane for writing about free speech (only 50 lashes have been delivered so far), and for its plans to execute a young political dissident by beheading him and publicly crucifying his body afterward.
But there is one bright spot for the Middle Eastern kingdom -- the same week that the international community was in an uproar over the plight of the young dissident, a watchdog group drew attention to the fact that Saudi Arabia had been selected to oversee an influential U.N. panel on human rights. That panel "selects top officials who shape international human rights standards and report on violations worldwide," said UN Watch, the watchdog group based in Geneva.
Saudi Arabia had earlier this year sought the leadership slot of the entire Human Rights Council of the U.N., a move that drew criticism given the country's human rights record. The kingdom routinely comes in at the bottom of Freedom House's rankings of world freedom.
"Saudi Arabia has arguably the worst record in the world when it comes to religious freedom and women’s rights," UN Watch executive director Hillel Neuer said in a statement. "This UN appointment is like making a pyromaniac into the town fire chief, and underscores the credibility deficit of a human rights council that already counts Russia, Cuba, China, Qatar and Venezuela among its elected members."
Some observers have questioned why Saudi Arabia has a seat at the 47-member Human Rights Council at all. But many countries on the council have enacted laws that are at odds with the U.N.'s official stances. To take one obvious example, the U.N.'s High Commissioner for Human Rights advocates against capital punishment, saying that "the death penalty has no place in the 21st century."
But a number of countries on the council, including the U.S., actively sentence people to death and execute them each year. In 2014, council member countries executed at least 139 prisoners, contrary to the commissioner's stated position. That doesn't include executions by China, which also sits on the council and where experts agree that annual execution numbers run into the thousands. Exact numbers on capital punishment in China are hard to come by, as official sources are generally seen to be unreliable.
Asked about the appropriateness of Saudi Arabia heading a key human rights panel last week, a U.S. State Department official said "we would welcome it."

Saudi Arabia is having a bad year on the human rights front. In the past few months, the U.S. ally has drawn widespread condemnation for sentencing a blogger to 1,000 lashes with a cane for writing about free speech (only 50 lashes have been delivered so far), and for its plans to execute a young political dissident by beheading him and publicly crucifying his body afterward.
But there is one bright spot for the Middle Eastern kingdom -- the same week that the international community was in an uproar over the plight of the young dissident, a watchdog group drew attention to the fact that Saudi Arabia had been selected to oversee an influential U.N. panel on human rights. That panel "selects top officials who shape international human rights standards and report on violations worldwide," said UN Watch, the watchdog group based in Geneva.
Saudi Arabia had earlier this year sought the leadership slot of the entire Human Rights Council of the U.N., a move that drew criticism given the country's human rights record. The kingdom routinely comes in at the bottom of Freedom House's rankings of world freedom.
"Saudi Arabia has arguably the worst record in the world when it comes to religious freedom and women’s rights," UN Watch executive director Hillel Neuer said in a statement. "This UN appointment is like making a pyromaniac into the town fire chief, and underscores the credibility deficit of a human rights council that already counts Russia, Cuba, China, Qatar and Venezuela among its elected members."
Some observers have questioned why Saudi Arabia has a seat at the 47-member Human Rights Council at all. But many countries on the council have enacted laws that are at odds with the U.N.'s official stances. To take one obvious example, the U.N.'s High Commissioner for Human Rights advocates against capital punishment, saying that "the death penalty has no place in the 21st century."
But a number of countries on the council, including the U.S., actively sentence people to death and execute them each year. In 2014, council member countries executed at least 139 prisoners, contrary to the commissioner's stated position. That doesn't include executions by China, which also sits on the council and where experts agree that annual execution numbers run into the thousands. Exact numbers on capital punishment in China are hard to come by, as official sources are generally seen to be unreliable.
Asked about the appropriateness of Saudi Arabia heading a key human rights panel last week, a U.S. State Department official said "we would welcome it."

October 17, 2015 - People have taken to the streets of the Saudi city of Saihat in the Qatif governorate to condemn terrorist attacks on two Shia mosques in the country’s east.
Protesters chanted slogans against the Daesh terrorist group, also known as ISIL, which has claimed responsibility for the attacks. The first attack on Shia mourners who were commemorating Muharram processions in Saihat left 5 people dead. Nine others were also wounded in the shooting. Media reports say a Saudi terrorist, in his twenties, was gunned down during an exchange of fire with security forces. Two others were also arrested. Elsewhere in the city of Dammam, the capital of Eastern Province, one person was injured as another terrorist shot at worshippers in Imam Hussein Mosque.

The invasion of Iraq has fuelled anti-western sentiment in Saudi Arabia, strengthening grassroots’ support for terrorist organisations.
Allan Gerson has sued Saudi charities, banks and members of the royal family for two trillion dollars. He accuses them of financing the September 11 attacks and Bali bombing: “We have seen evidence of money that went from Saudi sources through various entities in Europe to support terrorist cells.” These allegations are strenuously denied by Crown Prince Abdullah, ruler of Saudi Arabia. However, there is a growing gulf between the governing elite and their subjects and many Saudis are angered by America’s unwavering support for Israel. “The more the Palestinians are oppressed and the more the Americans support Israel, the more popular bin Laden and his like becomes,” explains Saudi writer Sulayman Al-Hattlan. “Osama stood up for people who were quiet ... He told the States I'm not afraid of you,” admires one student. Her friend agrees: “If Bush makes us choose between our religion or hurting our people, we're going to choose our religion.” Images of the bombing of Baghdad can only galvanise support for Islamic fundamentalists prepared to bank-roll Al-Qaeda.

Enemigos ayer, amigos hoy, de eso se trata la relación entre Arabia Saudí y el régimen de Israel.
Después de mucho tiempo de tensiones, ahora Arabia Saudí y el régimen de Tel Aviv realizan consultas a alto nivel e incluso se encaminan hacia una coalición.
Según un artículo editorial de Rasoul Goudarzi para HispanTV, los países árabes y el régimen israelí desde 1948 cuando venció el mandato británico de Palestina, se han visto involucrados en un profundo caos, al punto de que los primeros, encabezados por Siria y Egipto, declararon la guerra al régimen de Israel en 4 veces ocasiones; 1948, 1956, 1967 y 1973, y se oponían a su establecimiento en los territorios ocupados de Palestina.
No obstante, en todas estas contiendas los árabes fueron los perdedores, dejando tal sentimiento de rencor entre los pueblos árabes que ninguno de ellos reconocían al régimen de Israel como Estado e incluso pretendían su eliminación.
De esta forma, aquellos países como el régimen de Tel Aviv y Arabia Saudí que consideraban el nuevo sistema iraní como peligroso para su idolología y existencia, empezaron acercarse entre sí.
Ahora, ante un eventual acuerdo entre Irán y el Grupo 5+1 (EE.UU., el Reino Unido, Francia, Rusia y China, más Alemania), Arabia Saudí y aquellos que han sufrido grandes derrotas por parte del régimen de Israel, están estableciendo íntimas relaciones de alto nivel con el régimen para enfrentarse al Gobierno iraní en busca de sus propios intereses.
