Perth is the capital city of Western Australia and is the most isolated capital city of over 1,000,000 people in the world.
Perth sprawls along a flat coastal plain, centred along the Swan River and bounded by the Darling Scarp to the east and the Indian Ocean coastline in the west. Perth has a population of around 1.6 million (2009), making it the fourth largest city in Australia. The many uncrowded beaches along the Perth coastline define the lifestyle: Perth is laid-back, quiet and safe.
See in Perth, Western Australia
=====================
There is plenty to see in the city centre within wandering distance or on a free CAT bus. Hidden among the sprawl of the surrounding and metropolitan area are a few worthwhile attractions usually less than an hour away by car, or a bit longer on public transport.
Outside of the metropolitan area are some unspoilt national parks, unpopulated coastline and other interesting locations.
Kangaroos
-------------------
There is a designated area in the zoo for kangaroos where they can wander on visitors' paths and the animals are used to people so you can see them very close.
To see semi-wild kangaroos visit the Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park (a cemetery, but not European style) [10] - it's a walking distance from Whitfords Transperth Train/Metro Station - just cross the highway, the highway exit and look for the entrance on the left. As there is plenty of space for them you may see them not only eating but also hopping.
Other sports Other professional sports have a presence in Perth:
Perth Glory –
Western Warriors –
Western Force – Rugby union team in the Super 15, involving teams from Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Season runs from February to late May. Western Force play at NIB Stadium.
Perth Wildcats – Play in the National Basketball League.
Perth Heat - Play in the Australian Baseball League

======================
Swim. Perth boasts some of the country's best beaches, which are ideal for swimming during the warmer months. Sunscreen is essential and insect repellent may come in handy during the evening. As the beaches are on the open ocean it is strongly advised that you only 'swim between the flags' at patrolled beaches. Probably the easiest beach to get to by public transport is Scarborough beach, which can be accessed by catching the Clarkson line from platform 1 at either Perth Underground or Esplanade stations, getting off at Glendalough station before catching the 400 bus. Alternatively, you can catch the 400 from the Wellington St bus station which is located down the far end of the central station - from any of its platforms, head west to the concourse, turn left and then head down the ramp. Cottesloe Beach, one of Perth's most famous, and a favourite among locals and tourists alike, it even easier to access by public transport. Take the Fremantle line to Cottesloe Station, exit the platform at the Perth end, and head west down Forrest Street for about 10 min. Or you can take bus 102 from Williams street or Esplanade station and it has a stop right by the Cottesloe beach. There is a shady grassed area as well as sand, and the beach is patrolled.
Cycle. Perth has excellent bike paths and fantastic weather almost all year round which makes it perfect for cycling. The paths that follow the Swan River are very scenic and mostly flat. You can take your own bike, hire a bicycle from one of the bike hire providers located near the Swan River or take a tour with Bluetongue Bike Tours or Pedal OZ
Parks. Perth has a number of fantastic parks, ranging from inner-city parks such as Kings Park, Bold Park, and Lake Monger, to outer city parks such as John Forrest and Whiteman Park
Catch a flick. At one of the many independent or European cinemas, including Paradiso in Northbridge and The Luna cinemas in either Leederville or Fremantle. These cinemas showcase a range of local, Bollywood, French and Italian productions as well as International film festivals and documentaries throughout the year. Also check out the open air cinemas in summer, located in Kings Park, Movies by Burswood, Luna Leederville, and Mundaring.

Denmark is a coastal town in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, 423 kilometres (263 mi) south-south-east of the state capital of Perth. At the 2011 census, Denmark had a population of 2,280, however the population can be several times the base population during tourist seasons.
Flora and fauna
================
Denmark is surrounded by native woodland with a large variety of trees, including the eucalypts marri, karri, jarrah and red tingle. The latter can reach a height of 60 metres (200 ft). A distinctive local tree is the Red-flowering Gum.
There are many indigenous bird species, including Splendid Fairy-wrens, Emus, Australian White Ibis, Australian Magpies and Australian Ringnecks. Many species of reptiles including snakes and skinks can be found. Marsupials such as the Western Grey Kangaroo, the Southern Brown Bandicoot and the Common Brushtail Possum also live in the area.
The abundance of fish, squid and other marine life in the Denmark estuaries and along the coastline attracts Bottlenose Dolphins and seals; seasonally Southern Right Whales rest there during their long migrations to the north.
Notable people
=============
Actress Emma Booth was brought up in Denmark.
Facilities
=============
Denmark is a rural town with timber milling, orcharding, beef cattle and dairy farming as its primary industries. Soil and climate attract wine growers, with tourism being the fastest growing business in Denmark.[citation needed] There is limited commercial fishing as Denmark has no harbour.
The town is home to the Western Australian College of Agriculture - Denmark, a 560 hectare working farm and educational facility for Year 10, 11 and 12 students providing specialist education in farming and farm-related studies.
Denmark was awarded the title of Australia's Tidiest Town in 1998.
Near the Denmark River mouth is a wooden Heritage Railway Bridge where several walking trails come together including the Bibbulmun Track, which runs from the Perth region to Albany and the 'Denmark-Nornalup Heritage Trail'.
Denmark is on the Great Southern Highway, and is serviced by the TransWA public transport system. The town has an airstrip for small planes.

A modern city, Perth is the gem of Australia’s west coast and the capital of Western Australia. This friendly metropolis boasts pristine beaches, clear water, and plenty of coastline – not to mention an abundance of nature and mineral resources.
Start your day of Perth sightseeing with a walk through Kings Park, which is larger than New York’s Central Park and home to the Western Australia Botanic Garden. More than 3,000 species of Western Australia’s plant life, including vibrant flowers, are on display here. Most of the park consists of bushland, which means lots of wildlife and quite a few walking trails.
After a morning of reflection in the park, head over to the Swan Bell Tower to enjoy a spectacular view of the city. Don’t forget your camera! You will notice the diverse nature of Perth’s architecture from this vantage point, including the modern glass structures and London-inspired Tudor buildings.
Perth tours are never complete without a ferry ride to Rottnest Island, affectionately called “Rotto” by the locals. This getaway is rife with opportunities to snorkel in the Indian Ocean, see wildlife such as seals and birds, and travel across more than 31 miles of cycle ways on a rented bicycle.
Once your feet are back on mainland Western Australia, visit one of the jewels, and ultimately what draws much of the Perth tourism: Swan Valley. This region has a landscape peppered with vineyards, no surprise given that growing grapes has been a long-standing tradition in Swan Valley. Following a short (or leisurely paced) day trip to Swan Valley, return to Perth and head to Hillarys Boat Harbour for a sunset dinner.
What will you do in Perth?

The Cape Range National Park is a stunning natural expanse of canyons, gorges, limestone ranges and caves.
You can visit the eastern or western side of the range and it is best to head to the Milyering Visitors Centre first to get some maps information about the park.
There are a number of walking trails that you can embark on to follow along these ranges and canyons. If you do go for a trek along one of their tracks it is very important that you take sufficient water because it does get hot here and some of the walks are quite steep and go for many kilometers.
You might even be lucky enough to have a few unexpected guests walking along with you at some of the walking tracks, and we had a family of emus walking along in front of us.
Yardie Creek is a popular gorge and DEC run daily gorge tours and cruises up the creek. And Mandu Mandu offers spectacular views over this dry gorge once you have made it to the top of the steep tracks up the rugged canyon walls.

Exmouth is a town on the tip of the North West Cape in Western Australia. The town is located 1,270 kilometres (789 mi) north of the state capital Perth and 3,366 kilometres (2,092 mi) southwest of Darwin.
The town was established in 1967 to support the nearby United States Naval Communication Station Harold E. Holt. Beginning in the late 1970s, the town began hosting U.S. Air Force personnel assigned to Learmonth Solar Observatory, a defence science facility jointly operated with Australia's Ionospheric Prediction Service.
Tourism in Exmouth, Western Australia
=================
Nowadays the town relies more on tourism than the station for its existence. At the 2011 census, Exmouth had a population of 2,207. At the height of the tourist season the population swells to 6000.
Exmouth is one of the few areas in Australia that can boast the "Range to Reef" experience. The Cape Range National Park which has some spectacular gorges is an area of 506 square kilometres and its main area is focused on the west coast of the Cape which provides a large variety of camp sites on the coastal fringe of the Park.
On 22 March 1999, Tropical Cyclone Vance reached category 5 status as it made landfall near Exmouth. This resulted in the highest ever wind gust reported on the Australian mainland of 267 km/h at Learmonth, only 35 km to the south.
Vance caused significant flooding and property damage but there were no deaths.
In April 2014, Exmouth was hit by a massive flash flood, nearly destroying the caravan park and seriously damaging much of the towns infrastructure, causing a severe blow to tourism in the region.
Exmouth may well be Australia's fly-fishing heaven. Land and boat based fishing is excellent all year round, except peak cyclone season during February and March. Being a peninsula it offers some options for fly casting in winds from most directions. Only the worst winds and cyclones put the flyfisher completely out of business.
?
The variety and abundance of fish is amazing. From an offshore point of view, the North West Cape is the nearest point on the Australian mainland to the continental shelf, a good explanation for the abundance of marine life.
A good proportion of the shoreline can be accessed with two-wheel drive vehicles, although a four wheel drive will expand options quite significantly. Flyfishing visitors can expect to achieve reasonable success - even unguided.
Exmouth has good boat launching facilities. Exmouth Boat Harbour is 2km south of the town with concreted boat ramps within the marina. Other boat ramps are located 12km north of town at Bundegi Beach, and at Tantabiddi 35km from town just north of the Cape Range National Park boundary. Other small boat launching areas are available from campsites in the park, although these generally require four wheel drive vehicles.
Exmouth also boasts the world famous Ningaloo Marine Park - the coral reef in some areas is only metres from the shoreline, providing excellent snorkelling. There are sanctuary zones where no fishing is pemitted.
Fishing is generally good all year, but it's best to avoid peak cyclone season during February and March.
There are good facilities for tourists including camping and other reasonably priced accommodation in Exmouth. Boat hire and fishing charters are also avilable.

As England look to finish off the Ashes in style with a win in the fifth and final Test at The Oval, former England cricket captain and Ashes hero David Gower gets set for the cricket trip of a lifetime for the return series in Australia later this year
It's been a summer of cricket to remember with England decisively winning a third consecutive Ashes series over their greatest rivals Australia.

Former England captain and Ashes hero David Gower will be amongst those escaping the English winter for an Australian summer of cricket and he's particularly looking forward to the third test in Perth where he'll get to spend time in Western Australia, a region he says was one of his favourite places in the world to tour and now holiday in.
