Stanley Hauerwas (born July 24, 1940) is an American theologian, ethicist, and public intellectual. Hauerwas is a longtime professor at Duke University, serving as the Gilbert T. He was also the first American theologian to deliver the prestigious Gifford Lectures at St. Andrew's in Scotland in over forty years. His work is frequently read and debated by scholars in fields outside of religion, theology, or ethics, such as political philosophy, sociology, history, and literary theory. Dr. Stanley Hauerwas, Professor of Theological Ethics at Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina, challenges our ideas about pluralism and religious tolerance. "One of the things we have to do" he says, "is not ask, how are we going to understand other faiths, but how are other faiths going to understand us?"
Stanley Hauerwas interviewed by Jonathan Tran on wide range of topics
Feb. 28, 2013 sermon at Goodson Chapel, Duke Divinity School.
Jesus' teaching in Matthew 18 is central for Christians coming to love the enemy. Particularly important is that we never forget that God is the enemy we most fear. To be confronted and to confront those that we have wronged and have wronged us one of the central practices for Christians to practice neighbor love.

Having fun getting sun moving on
That seemed to be the thing for me
Single and so happy
Hit the town getting down play around
That's all I wanted to do until I saw you
You came along and proved me wrong
Shattered every dream I knew
I'm so glad I found you
Chorus
Suddenly I can see I never knew love before
And it changes everything
And it's so exciting
Suddenly I can see 1 never knew love before
Cos it took a hold of me
Out of nowhere suddenly
Suddenly... Love has got a hold of me
Be a tease a tease hold the keys love and leave
I thought that I was in control
But I'm captured body and soul
Don't you see you and me destiny
I thought I've been in love before
But there is so much more
You came along you were the one
Boy it's like a dream come true
I'm so glad I found you
Chorus
Suddenly I can see I never knew love before
And it changes everything
And it's so exciting
Suddenly I can see I never knew love before
Cos it took a hold of me
Out of nowhere suddenly
Suddenly... Love has got a hold of me
Suddenly out of the blue
You came along like a dream come true
I wasn't looking but you came to find me
Heavenly angel there to guide me
Try as I may I couldn't go wrong
Cos you were waiting there all along
We had a bond a genuine connection
