Persians ( Iranian People)
While a categorization of a "Persian" ethnic group persists in the West, Persians have generally been a pan-national group often comprising regional people who often refer to themselves as 'Persians' and have also often used the term "Iranian".
Old Persians were part of the wider Ariya (Iranian nation). Until the Parthian era, Iranian identity had an ethnic, linguistic, and religious value, however it did not yet have a political import. In the 1st century BCE, Strabo (c. 64 BCE--24 CE) would note a relationship between the various Iranian peoples and their languages: "[From] beyond the Indus [...] Ariana is extended so as to include some part of Persia, Media, and the north of Bactria and Sogdiana; for these nations speak nearly the same language." (Geography, 15.2.1--15.2.8. He mentions the Cyrtians, the plausible ancestors of the modern Kurds as one of the Persian tribes. Cyrtians, the generally accepted progenitors of the Kurds and Lurs. This makes Kurds Persians and not Medians.

Hello my beloved Persian speaking people (1)
In 2001, through my music career, i was introduced to the Iranian Classical Music. It touched my heart deeply, and i had a dream to be able to sing Persian one day! that dream came true in 2014 when i started learning Persian language. Though, during my language course, i started to realise that there s a lot of arabic words mixed with the Farsi (most of arabic words used in Farsi have different meanings than the original arabic). I was curious to know the “original” persian language. It was a real blessing that i met with Shahrad Tatar the director of the "Persian Language community" , who started introducing me to the real Persian language. Not sure why some Persian people laugh when i speak “proper Persian”, as i certainly do not find a “lost language” a funny matter. I am enjoying my journey, learning the real Persian, and i would like to share with you regularly every new word i learn. interesting, isn’t it?! :-D

It touched my heart deeply, and i had a dream to be able to sing Persian one day! that dream came true in 2014 when i started learning Persian language. Though, during my language course, i started to realise that there s a lot of arabic words mixed with the Farsi (most of arabic words used in Farsi have different meanings than the original arabic). i was curious to know the “original” persian language. it was a real blessing that i met with Shahrad Tatar (plz introduce urself here my dear), who started introducing me to the real Persian language. Not sure why some persian people laugh when i speak “proper Persian”, as i certainly do not find a “lost language” a funny matter. i am enjoying my journey, learning the real Persian, and i would like to share with you regularly every new word i learn. interesting, isn’t it?!

Persian Weddings are always grand, elegant affairs. If you’ve never been to a Persian wedding, put that on your to-do list immediately. The culture, traditions, and people make this event definitely one to remember for a lifetime. The guests are always dressed to the nines, and they love to party, which makes the wedding and all aspects of it fun to shoot in camera.
Massy and Ali tied their knot in an absolute gorgeous traditional Persian style in Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter At Ravinia. It was one of the most lavish and unique weddings we have ever been to. We so enjoyed spending an entire 12 hours with this lovely couple. Massy and Ali t

Hope this information will helpful to get idea in brief about this. Not all cat fancier groups recognize the traditional persian (at all, or as distinct), or give it that specific name. Hello, every Thursday I will post a new clip for you to practice.
This week a dear friend of mine passed away. But the memory of him, his encouragement and knowledge will stay with me.
What I want to communicate with you is that you should know the value and cherish people whom have the interests of mankind at heart. Show them appreciation while they are alive. This is the way to part with grace.
Dearest Nasser Yousefi,
in a world full of prestige and selfishness,
few people were as human and full of solidarity as you.

Located in a mountainous region around 70 kilometres north of modern city of Shiraz, the complex of magnificent palaces with large entrances and huge columns leaves visitors to the ancient capital of Persian Empire overawed.
At the height of the power of Achaemenid Empire, representatives of dozens of subjec

The Black Persians. The Modern Iranian People Are Not Persian
Just because the majority of modern Iranian people are light-skinned, does not mean the ancient Persians were also light-skinned! MOST of the modern Iranian people have had Turkic ancestors*. According to the former Iranian foreign minister (Ali-Akbar Salehi) more than 40% of Iranians STILL speak Turkic languages (Farsi has been the only official language of Iran since 90 years ago, so many of the Turkic people of Iran have been assimilated to the Farsi-speaking people ever since). Turkic people are NOT descended from any ancient people of Iran, they are NEW immigrants. Other people like Bakhtiaris, Lurs, Kurds, Gilaks, Mazandaranis, ... are

What I want to communicate with you is that you should know the value and cherish people whom have the interests of mankind at heart. Show them appreciation while they are alive. This is the way to part with grace.
Dearest Nasser Yousefi,

ANCIENT PERSIAN CAPITAL ATTRACTS TOURISTS
LEADIN
Rare access to an historical Iranian site has revealed the wealth of the Achamenid dynasty from 2,500 years ago.
Persepolis was the capital of ancient Persia at the time, which stretched from the Indus River to Egypt, to central Asia.
STORYLINE
Persepolis was a centre of world politics, power and wealth some 2500 years ago.
Located in a mountainous region around 70 kilometres north of modern city of Shiraz, the complex of magnificent palaces with large entrances and huge columns leaves visitors to the ancient capital of Persian Empire overawed.
At the height of the power of Achaemenid Empire, representatives of dozens of subject countries and satellite states ascended the palace stairs to present their king's or nation's gifts to the great emperor of the time.
The staircases lead the visitors to the entrance of the Gate of all Nations, a 10-meter high entrance to the Throne Hall, Apadana palace and the Palace with Three Gates.
Lamassu (bull with the head of bearded man) statues repeatedly showed themselves to visitors at every corner and entrance to remind them of the immortality of the empire.
Around the gate of all nations stands an intact proud statue of Homa, a griffin-like mythical bird of ancient Persia.
Homa has been the symbol of fortune and paradise throughout Persian culture.
These 21-meter high intact columns at Apadana palace act today as a reminder of the skilful architects of the Persepolis complex who challenged and defeated the earthquake-prone land of Persia.
Iran lies on a series of seismic fault series, which cover almost 90 per cent of the country.
These remnants of columns in the Throne Hall or Hundred Column palace, recall days when commanders of the strong Persian army were honoured for their military achievements thousands of miles away.
Simon Philips is an Australian tourist who is surprised at the 12,5000 sq meters of palace complexes.
"The most impressive part for me is to imagine what this place was like back in the time when it was functional; and the roof was on and there were people working around here, and the treasury was full of gold and treasuries, and cast my mind back; and it was a long time ago, two thousands five hundred years ago, and it amazes me to think what it would have been like to be here. "he says.
Iranian visitors to the Persepolis complex have a mixed feelings.
Mounes, a young Iranian visitor says: "Actually, when I was looking from far away, and when we arrived here and I was looking at the site from downstairs, my heart started beating so fast, and I felt like crying, and when we were coming upstairs I told my husband: "Just imagine, for one moment, you're putting your steps were (Persian rulers) Cyrus, Darius and Xerxes and all those who lived 2500 years ago used to walk, Cyrus had stepped exactly where I'm standing"".
Bas-reliefs on the exterior walls of Apadana palace reflect the ceremonial and administrative functions of the complex.
Darius the Great ruled Persia from 522 - 486 BC.
He extensively expanded the empire and annexed Egypt to its vast territories, ordered the construction of Persepolis and believing his empire needed a ceremonial capital to show its magnificence.
Reliefs show representatives from other countries with different cultures standing in queue to pay tribute and give presents to Darius .
The complex was buried until the early 1930s and it was unearthed during a 1930s excavation conducted under the supervision of Ernest Herzfeld and Erich Schmidt, Chicago University professors.
Davoudi is an Ancient Persian History expert in Iran's National Museum, where objects from 4000 BC are at display.

STORYLINE:
Thousands of Afghans gathered in Kabul on Saturday for a day of ceremony and festivities to welcome in the Persian New Year.
Sunday March 21, the first day of spring, marks Nowruz, the beginning of the year 1383 on the Persian calendar.
Persian peoples across West Asia have celebrated Nowruz for thousands of years.
For Afghanistan's Farsi-speaking minority though, this is only the third year they have been allowed to mark the occasion since the fall of the Taliban, which outlawed the celebration.
Revellers said they were hoping the new year would bring more stability for Afghanistan, which has seen a recent resurgence in Taliban activity in the south and east of the country.
Afghanistan has a large ethnic Persian minority, and Nowruz was part of the official calendar until the Taliban took Kabul in 1996.
Nowruz has its roots in Zoroastrianism - the ancient religion of pre-Islamic Persia.
Hard-line Muslim clerics frown upon the festival, particularly in Iran, saying it goes against Islamic traditions.

Other people like Bakhtiaris, Lurs, Kurds, Gilaks, Mazandaranis, ... are not descended from the ancient Persians either, they are amalgamations of many different immigrants like Parthians, other Scythian tribes, and other white immigrants. The majority of Farsi-speaking people of Iran are dark-skinned, but many of them also have some Turkic ancestors and are mixed with Turkic people.
*The Mongoloid people of central Asia who speak Turkic languages, do not call themselves Turks, the only people who call themselves Turks, are Azerbaijanis and Turkish people of Turkey who are white.
Thanks for watching.

When Babylon fell to the Persians, it marked the end of the exile of God's people, as Cyrus the Persian announced that any who wished to return to Jerusalem were encouraged to do so. Cyrus therefore represents a great blessing for those who had been so long separated from their home, and for this he is honored with the title "messiah" by the prophet Isaiah, the only non-Jew in the Old Testament to recieved such a stamp of approval. However Cyrus adopted a policy of allowing conquered areas autonomy (a certain amount of independence) provided they paid their taxes. The Persians were also very tolerant of local religions. Later Persian rulers also followed this policy. Under Darius the Persian Empire was divided into areas called satrapies and each was ruled by a man called a satrap.
In 539 BC the Persians conquered the rich and powerful city-state of Babylon. The king of Babylon had ruled Syria and Phoenicia (modern day Lebanon) and both of these were now added to the Persian Empire.
Cyrus was followed by Cambyses II (529-522 BC). In 525 BC he conquered Egypt. He died in 522 BC and was replaced by Darius.
For the first part of his reign Darius had to deal with rebellions in his empire. He then fought wars with Greece. In 499 BC the Greek cities on the coast of Turkey rebelled. Darius quickly crushed the revolt but in 490 BC he decided to invade Greece to punish the Greeks for assisting the rebels. However the Persians were defeated by the Athenians at the battle of Marathon.
In 480 BC another Persian ruler, Xerxes, invaded Greece. This time the Persians captured Athens and they burned the Acropolis. However their fleet was crushed at a naval battle at Salamis. In 479 BC the Greeks won a decisive battle at Plataea, which assured Greek independence. Xerxes was assassinated in 465 BC.
Despite its brilliance the Persian Empire declined after 400 BC. For one thing the empire suffered from its sheer size, which made it difficult to control. The empire suffered a series of rebellions. It also suffered from political instability. Another ruler, Artaxerxes III, was assassinated in 338 BC. Finally the great Persian Empire was destroyed by Alexander the Great in 331 BC.more info visit:http://www.localhistories.org/persians.html

After 3000 years, and with the British Empire deciding where country borders lie in the 17th and 18th centuries, Persia has maintained most of its land mass except for the loss of half of Azerbaijan. But to know Persia is to remember that countries ending with "stan" (e.g. Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan), were all part of Persia Major until taken by the British or by Czarist Russia. Although it might seem Iran today is trying to rebuild the old borders that can be ascribed to the Safavid Empire, under the present ruling class and government, a Theological Society is more of a stain on a long history of religious freedom from the country which founded the first human rights charter, on display today as the "Cyrus Cylinder" in the hallways of the United Nations. Perhaps this Theocracy is only a blip compared to 3000 years of religious freedom. And with hope, this ugly stain on an otherwise beautiful history of culture, science, mathematics, chess, architecture, philosophy, poetry and music will once again flourish. Persia has proven that throughout time, the fundamental fabric of society cannot be altered, instead bending those who occupy it to the country's will like Alexander the Great, who died as a Persian King, the Conquest of Islam which created a branch of Islam: Shi'ite Islam. This was another example of how Persia could bend the conquerors to their own desires and create something unique only to Persians. During the mid 20th century, when US/Iran relations were at their peak, American's who lived in Iran never imagined wanting to leave. But this Theocracy came and with it brought a cloud of darkness that will one day be lifted to reveal the Greatness which lies beneath. The Greatness this video will provide viewers a glimpse into. To understand Persia is to understand Iran, and the educated will quickly begin to realize the Persians are not the enemy but in fact one of the few cultures on earth that truly love Americans. The ruling clergy do not represent Iran nor the Persian people or any other ethnicity in this diverse country. They never have and never will. Soon they will hopefully be gone and with their leave will usher in a new renaissance of cultural advancement and to the benefit of civilization, this great country will again be a part the world of nations.

19. Cyrus and the Liberation of God's People
When Babylon fell to the Persians, it marked the end of the exile of God's people, as Cyrus the Persian announced that any who wished to return to Jerusalem were encouraged to do so. Cyrus therefore represents a great blessing for those who had been so long separated from their home, and for this he is honored with the title "messiah" by the prophet Isaiah, the only non-Jew in the Old Testament to recieved such a stamp of approval. Persepolis PERSIAN EMPIRE | HISTORY of IRAN
Persepolis Old Persian: Pārśa, New Persian: Takht-e Jamshid or Pārseh, literally meaning "city of Persians", was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire (ca. 550–330 BCE). Persepolis is situated 70 km northeast of city of Shiraz in Fars Province in Iran. The earliest remains of Persepolis date back to 515 BCE. It exemplifies the Achaemenid style of architecture. UNESCO declared the ruins of Persepolis a World Heritage Site in 1979.
Archaeological evidence shows that the earliest remains of Persepolis date back to 515 BCE. André Godard, the French archaeologist who excavated Persepolis in the early 1930s, believed that it was Cyrus the Great (Kūrosh) who chose the site of Persepolis, but that it was Darius I (Daryush) who built the terrace and the great palaces.
Darius ordered the construction of the Apadana Palace and the Council Hall (the Tripylon or three-gated hall), the main imperial Treasury and its surroundings. These were completed during the reign of his son, King Xerxes the Great (New-Persian Khashayar, more correctly,, 'the greatest/king of the gallant youth/young men'). Further construction of the buildings on the terrace continued until the downfall of the Achaemenid dynasty.

ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS : Ancient Persia and Arabian Peninsula
A look at Ancient Civilizations in Ancient Persia and Arabian Peninsula. During the 4th century B.C., the great Persian civilization, which was the first multiethnic empire in history, reached its peak. In this episode, we’ll tour the grand residences at Persepolis, and the imperial palaces of the omnipotent Darius – a sumptuous building complex for the most powerful man in the world of that era.
Part 2 starts at 26:33 and looks at the Arabian Peninsula. From the Arabian Peninsula, we follow an ancient caravan route through the desert to Syria. ; Along the way, several lush oases in the otherwise barren Syrian desert come to our rescue in the form of Marib and Petra, cite of the great tomb of Aaron that is carved out of a rock face, along with the beautiful city of Palmyra in Syria.
Ancient Civilizations offers a comparative analysis of the field, including both old world and new civilizations, and explores the connections between all civilizations around the earth. The volume provides a jargon-free introduction to ancient civilizations from the first civilizations, and the great powers in the Near East, to the first Aegean civilizations, the Mediterranean world in the first millennium, Imperial Rome, northeast Africa, divine kings in southeast Asia, and empires in East Asia, as well as early states in the Americas and Andean civilization. For those interested in ancient civilizations.
Today’s civilizations owe an immense debt to the powerful empires and mighty cities of antiquity. Their inventions, techniques and concepts enabled the advancement of humankind and lay the foundation for life in the modern world.
