Alien 2: On Earth, also known as Alien Terror and Strangers, is a 1980 science fiction film, written and directed by Ciro Ippolito before the trademark Alien was registered. Sinopsis: La película es una secuela no oficial de Alien, el octavo pasajero, la película de 1979 dirigida por Ridley Scott, aunque la trama de Alien 2 no tiene nada que ver con la película original. Durante las décadas de los 70 y 80 hubo un boom de copias descaradas, falsas segundas partes, o películas que, sin tener que ver más que el título, trataban de casar beneficios exprimiendo la estela de películas exitosas o grandes producciones. En esto los italianos fueron unos fenómenos, aunque no los únicos en sacar tajada en este campo. Títulos como El último tiburón (1981, Enzo Castellari) o Terminator 2 (1990, Bruno Mattei) son grandes ejemplos de esto. Un grupo de espeleólogos investiga una gruta y se topan con unos extraños minerales de origen desconocido. La joven que guía al grupo comienza a notar que sus camaradas son presas de metamorfosis de origen extraterrestre.

FUTURE PROOF - 2011 A/NZ PromaxBDA Opener
The DMC Initiative (DMCI) developed this piece as a response to the 2011 A/NZ PromaxBDA Conference title of Future Proof.
Our approach was to focus not on futuristic notions but to consider that which is timeless. People, the expression of self and the interactions between each other are timeless qualities relevant to creativity, no matter what the future holds.
The concept started quite fluidly, by briefing a variety of dancers, with individual performance styles, to develop choreography based on the concepts of growth, sharing, sending and receiving.
Directed by Nathan Drabsch, the performances were shot over one day using two RED Epic cameras, capturing the action at high speed. All design, editing and post production was done in-house by The DMCI team. We worked closely with composers and audio designers Mark Brandis & Jeff Black from ism studios, to create a unique score that perfectly compliments the performances.
As a whole, the focus is on the dancers as they create and interact with abstract forms in a vast unknown world. Their own movements determine the creation and final destruction of these elements. Their own paths of communication and creative expression have come full circle, and all that remains is the individual.

Ciro Ippolito
Ciro Ippolito (born Naples, Italy, 27 January 1947) is an Italian film director and producer. He is known to horror film fans for his 1980 opus Alien 2: On Earth, which he coproduced, wrote and directed.
Biography
Born in 1947 the son of an Italian theatre producer, Ciro Ippolito started his career during childhood being an actor in the film Class of Iron (Classe di ferro, 1957) by Turi Vasile.
In 1972 he participated in the film Augustine of Hippo (Agostino d'Ippona) by Roberto Rossellini, with whom he worked as assistant director. In the mid-1960s, he produced two theatre shows of Leopoldo Mastelloni (Le compagnie and Brechtomania), and participated in various films (I misteri di Napoli, La Badessa di Castro, Vieni amore mio, Flavia la monaca musulmana, La fine dell'innocenza) as actor or screenwriter.
His first work as a film director came in 1980 with the film Alien 2: On Earth (Alien 2 sulla terra), made under the pseudonym Sam Cromwell. His main successes from that period are Lacrime napolitane (Berlin Film Festival, 1980), followed by Pronto...Lucia (1982) and Zampognaro innamorato (1983), both with Carmelo Zappulla.

Our approach was to focus not on futuristic notions but to consider that which is timeless. People, the expression of self and the interactions between each other are timeless qualities relevant to creativity, no matter what the future holds. The concept started quite fluidly, by briefing a variety of dancers, with individual performance styles, to develop choreography based on the concepts of growth, sharing, sending and receiving. We worked closely with composers and audio designers Mark Brandis & Jeff Black from ism studios, to create a unique score that perfectly compliments the performances.
As a whole, the focus is on the dancers as they create and interact with abstract forms in a vast unknown world. Their own movements determine the creation and final destruction of these elements. Their own paths of communication and creative expression have come full circle, and all that remains is the individual.
