Eric Michael Stewart (born 20 January 1945, Droylsden, Lancashire, England) is an English musician, songwriter and record producer most known for his tenure with The Mindbenders in the 1960s, and 10cc from 1972 to 1995.
In 1968, he became a co-owner of Strawberry Studios in Stockport, England, where he developed skills as a recording engineer and record producer. His involvement in Strawberry was instrumental in the eventual formation of 10cc.
Stewart has collaborated with Paul McCartney on three McCartney albums recorded between 1982 and 1986, has recorded three solo albums and released Viva La Difference in 2009.
Graham Keith Gouldman (born 10 May 1946) is an English songwriter and musician who is a long-time member of British band 10cc.
Gouldman was born in Broughton, Salford, Lancashire, England into a Jewish family. He played in a number of Manchester bands from 1963, including the High Spots, the Crevattes, the Planets and the Whirlwinds, which became a house band at his local Jewish Lads' Brigade. The Whirlwinds – comprising Gouldman (vocals, guitar), Maurice Sperling (vocals/drums), Bernard Basso (bass), Stephen Jacobson (guitar, bongos), Malcolm Wagner and Phil Cohen – secured a recording contract with HMV, releasing a recording of the Buddy Holly song "Look at Me", backed with "Baby Not Like You", written by Lol Creme, in June 1964.
In late 1964 Gouldman dissolved the Whirlwinds and in February 1965 formed the Mockingbirds with Jacobson and Basso and a former member of fellow Manchester band the Sabres, Kevin Godley (drums). The Mockingbirds signed with the Columbia label, which rejected Gouldman's first offering as a single – "For Your Love" (later a major hit for the Yardbirds) – and issued two singles, "That's How (It's Gonna Stay)" (February 1965, also issued in the US on ABC Paramount) and "I Can Feel We're Parting" (May 1965). The band switched to the Immediate label for "You Stole My Love" (October 1965) and Decca for "One By One" (July 1966) and "How to Find a Lover" (October 1966)
The given name Eric, Erik, or Erick is derived from the Old Norse name Eiríkr (or Eríkr in Eastern Scandinavia due to monophthongization). The first element, ei- is derived either from the older Proto-Norse *aina(z) meaning "one" or "alone" or from Proto-Norse *aiwa(z) meaning "ever" or "eternal". The second element -ríkr derives either from *rík(a)z meaning "ruler" or "prince" (cf. Gothic reiks) or from an even older Proto-Germanic *ríkiaz which meant "powerful" and "rich". The name is thus usually taken to mean "one ruler", "autocrat", "eternal ruler" or "ever powerful", "warrior", and "government".
The most common spelling in Scandinavia is Erik. In Norway, another form of the name (which has kept the Old Norse diphthong) Eirik is also commonly used. In Finland, the form Erkki is also used. The modern Icelandic version is Eiríkur, while the modern Faroese version is Eirikur. Éric [eʁik] is used in French, and in Germany Eric, Erik and Erich are used.
Although the name was in use in Anglo-Saxon England, its use was reinforced by Scandinavian settlers arriving before the Norman Invasion. It was an uncommon name in England until the Middle Ages, when it gained popularity, and finally became a common name in the 19th century. This was partly because of the publishing of the novel Eric, or, Little by Little by Frederick William Farrar in 1858.
Stewart is a popular Scottish first name and surname. The word Stewart is derived from an occupational surname. It originally belonged to a person who was a steward by profession. It is derived from a combination of two Old English words, the word stig, which means house, and the word weard, which means guard. The first name translation of the word is often Stuart, hence the difference in the two.

Press to Play is the sixth studio album by English musician Paul McCartney, released in August 1986. It was McCartney's first album of entirely new music since Pipes of Peace in 1983, and his first solo album to be issued internationally by EMI following a six-year alliance with Columbia Records in the United States and Canada. Keen to re-establish himself after his poorly received 1984 musical film, Give My Regards to Broad Street, McCartney enlisted producer Hugh Padgham to give the album a contemporary sound. On release, Press to Play received a mixed critical reception and it was McCartney's poorest selling studio album up to that point. Although it failed to make the top 20 in America, the album peaked at number 8 on the UK Albums Chart and achieved gold status from the BPI in Septem...

The schizophrenic band in which Godley and Creme were contrasted against Gouldman and Stewart ended up split. In a 1995 interview, Gouldman was philosophical about the album later comeback album: "When we finally did come back to record again, it was based on market research that our record company had done, that said a new 10cc album would do really, really well. And, ah, history has proved that wrong." Yet according to Stewart, both he and Gouldman had approached the album positively. "We wrote in a three-month period, 22 songs. Every day we were coming up with new ideas, and they were getting better and better, as far as we were concerned. And they sounded like 10cc songs again." We're now on Facebook: Look up the group "Musicians in Their Own Words"! But the market research proved to...

This is the eleventh and final studio album by the english rock band 10cc, released in 1995. The album was more or less 2 solo albums by Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman, as neither of them appear together on any tracks aside from the last one, and they only share writing credits on 3 songs. Like the previous album, the album features Andrew Gold and Paul McCartney. Three different versions of the album exist; a 10 track version, a 15 track version, and a 14 track version, which is the version I've uploaded here. My favorite song from Eric's new CD, Viva La Difference. Eric's songs are guitar oriented this time and, to me, most similar to Deceptive Bends. Great CD!!

Depending on your age or taste in music, you may not have heard of 10cc. But it’s likely that you will have heard their most famous song, I’m Not in Love, and be able to hum its titular refrain. The song won three Ivor Novello awards after its release in 1975, despite the fact the band struggled to get it played on radio at the complete length of more than six minutes. Manchester quartet 10cc nearly dropped the song too, but dramatically reworked it in Stockport’s Strawberry Studios over the course of several weeks to create one of the most innovative pop songs of the 20th century. That ‘silly phase’ was actually a 50-year marriage “It’s just a silly phase I’m going through”, sings Eric Stewart, who co-wrote the song with Graham Gouldman. However, the song was inspired by a comment his w...
