Shaun Maloney came back to haunt the Irish as Scotland claimed a credible 1-1 draw in a feisty EURO qualifier in Dublin.
The Republic of Ireland took a first-half lead through Jon Walters but were come undone once again by some Maloney magic – who netted that famous winner in the reverse fixture – after the winger curled a shot off John O’Shea and into the net.
It’s a result that could prove crucial for Scotland’s EURO 2016 hopes and keeps us two-points ahead of Martin O’Neill’s team in the Group D standings.

Ireland Beat Germany 1 - 0 at Aviva Reactions from Dunphy Giles & Brady
** Historic Irish Win Over Germany **
Republic of Ireland 1 Germany 0
Fourteen years after that memorable day when the Dutch were beaten here, the Irish team finally took another scalp worthy of the term at the Aviva last night. The Germans might put it down to a recurrence of their World Cup hangover but even they may watch Shane Long’s winning goal back with grudging admiration.
It was a stunning strike to crown a quite staggering effort by an Irish side that was outplayed and outmanoeuvred for long stretches but which simply refused to accept that they were going to be beaten. Late on, the new Lansdowne Road finally rocked for a while the way old used to and the world champions left, as they say, knowing that they’d been in a game.
The similarities with 2001 didn’t end with the scoreline but there was none of the luck. Sure, the Germans will rue the poor finishing that marred their efforts at key moments in both halves but there was no sense of injustice about this. Ireland battled at the back as they have always done on their best days and Long, in that one sweet moment, ensured that they took their one outstanding chance when it finally came.
The team’s reward is a guarantee of the play-off place that Martin O’Neill had said he would accept two defeats for. But as it turned out, the result in Glasgow means that the destination of the group’s second place and an automatic spot at next summer’s finals in France, is ever so finely balanced between the two sides that will face each other on Sunday in Warsaw with a draw in which Ireland score two goals or more good enough to put Ireland through automatically.
In terms of the team selection, the manager was good as his word when it came to the positive intentions. With David Meyler omitted and Stephen Ward returning to the left-back slot, Robbie Brady was pushed forward into midfield, while Wes Hoolahan retained his central role behind Jon Walters and Daryl Murphy.
It was a nice idea but the cracks didn’t take long to appear. With no real width to the team in midfield and the Irish back four trying to remain compact, the Germans were soon pushing on down the flanks to the point where Matthias Ginter and Marco Reus were a permanent danger.
Initially the greater problem was down Ireland’s right where Cyrus Christie was learning a lesson or two about how much faster than Gibraltar the really top teams move. With Ginter gradually became a thorn in the team’s side that had to be addressed, and after a spell during which Walters seemed to be calling whether he needed to chase back on a case by case basis, Brady was handed prime responsibility for the right back.
It all made for a desperately difficult opening spell for the home side with players seeking guidance from their manager and O’Neill so anxious to dish it out up and down the sidelines that he had to be returned to his technical area more than once.
The Germans will wonder quite how they didn’t score over those opening 20 minutes or so but rather more remarkably, an effort by Mesut Özil disallowed for a clear offside was the closest thing they had to an actual shot on target in the first half.
Still, they were creating a steady stream of chances, most of which were blocked by Irish players making lunges of the vaguely desperate variety, although there was the odd moment of standout composure as when Richard Keogh cut out a Ginter ball that Mario Götze was already swinging a leg to tap home.
John O’Shea worked relentlessly to keep them at bay while James McCarthy’s contributions were rather more erratic to start with. There were, to be fair, plenty of important interventions but too often the pass that followed was poor and he was nearly to blame for a German opener when he carelessly surrendered possession then failed to cut out a Thomas Müller cross that Özil somehow pushed wide of the far post as Shay Given simply looked hopefully on.
Given’s night was cut short by a twisted knee suffered as he tried to kick the ball out and so, in the 42nd minute, Darren Randolph came on to make his competitive debut. At that stage, it promised to be a challenging first real night on the job.
Everybody played their part in the end, though. They had to. These were the world champions they were beating.

The Republic's Dissident Youth: Ireland's Young Warriors
Earlier this year, VICE News filmed with a republican youth movement in Ireland called Na Fianna Éireann (“Warriors of Ireland” in English), a small group of around 30 boys considered to be hardline dissidents. They support a violent IRA splinter group known as the Continuity IRA, and believe that a renewed armed struggle is needed to free Ireland from British occupation in the North.
Considered “junior terrorists” by some, the Na Fianna sees itself simply as Ireland’s true republican boy scouts, training with the main aim of being ready for a new resistance — a fight that they believe is inevitable.
VICE News followed Na Fianna members as they carried out "bush training" in the mountains, and attended their Easter Rising march through Dublin, to get an idea of what the young face of dissident republicanism looks like, in an age where support for political violence in Ireland has all but ended.

The Republic of Ireland National Anthem
The Republic of Ireland Anthem
The lyrics Are printed Below!
Gaelic Version
Amhrán na bhFiann
Seo dhibh a cháirde duan Óglaigh,
Cathréimeach briomhar ceolmhar,
Ár dtinte cnámh go buacach táid,
'S an spéir go min réaltogach
Is fonnmhar faobhrach sinn chun gleo
'S go tiúnmhar glé roimh thíocht do'n ló
Fé chiúnas chaomh na hoiche ar seol:
Seo libh canaídh Amhrán na bhFiann.
Curfá:
Sinne Fianna Fáil
A tá fé gheall ag Éirinn,
buion dár slua
Thar toinn do ráinig chugainn,
Fé mhóid bheith saor.
Sean tír ár sinsir feasta
Ní fhagfar fé'n tiorán ná fé'n tráil
Anocht a théam sa bhearna bhaoil,
Le gean ar Ghaeil chun báis nó saoil
Le guna screach fé lámhach na bpiléar
Seo libh canaídh Amhrán na bhFiann.
Cois bánta réidhe, ar árdaibh sléibhe,
Ba bhuachach ár sinsir romhainn,
Ag lámhach go tréan fé'n sár-bhrat séin
Tá thuas sa ghaoith go seolta
Ba dhúchas riamh d'ár gcine cháidh
Gan iompáil siar ó imirt áir,
'S ag siúl mar iad i gcoinne námhad
Seo libh, canaídh Amhrán na bhFiann.
Curfá
A bhuíon nách fann d'fhuil Ghaeil is Gall,
Sin breacadh lae na saoirse,
Ta scéimhle 's scanradh i gcroíthe namhad,
Roimh ranna laochra ár dtire.
Ár dtinte is tréith gan spréach anois,
Sin luisne ghlé san spéir anoir,
'S an bíobha i raon na bpiléar agaibh:
Seo libh, canaídh Amhrán na bhFiann.

Ireland, the Emerald Island. The hills, covered with lush, emerald green grass are full of mystical stone buildings from prehistoric times, Celtic monuments and medieval forts and monasteries. The island is the home of legends, music, poetry and dance. The capital of the Republic of Ireland, Dublin, has many sights worth take a look, for example the Trinity College, Christchurch and the St. Patrick Cathedral, the Parliament, and the National Gallery. The Georgian houses in the vicinity of Merrion Square, with their colorful doors and bronze knockers are the nicest in the city. One cannot skip the Jameson whiskey factory, the Guinness Brewery,

Dublin is the capital of the Irish Republic and is a city of musicians, poets and dreamers. Its Georgian buildings, whisky distilleries and historic castles are tangible and colorful reminders of bygone times. Numerous well preserved buildings, cafes, churches and idyllic canals also add to the captivating atmosphere of this fun loving city.
One of the city's main landmarks is a splendid structure, Halfpenny Bridge, which derived its name due to a toll that was once extracted from those who crossed it.
Dublin Castle is one of the city's oldest buildings. It has seen much transformation and

After some brilliant time in my homeland, I hopped on yet another plane and headed across the sea to Ireland. My first stop in Ireland was the city of Cork in which was in the midst of watching its team play in the Irish Hurling Championships. Naturally, I joined right in on the festivities.
From Cork, I wound up in Dublin where I ran a photography workshop with a couple people. We explored much of that part of Ireland including one of my favourite places to photograph in the entire world, a little town called Howth. After Howth, I took the bus across to the West side of Ireland to the city of Limerick, Ireland. I actually really enjoyed

Jerpoint Abbey near Thomastown dates back to the twelfth century and is one of the most beautiful Cistercian ruins in Ireland. It was founded in around 1160 by Donal Mac Gillapatrick, the King Of Ossory. The Cistercians built the monastery in characteristic style and one of the stone sarcophaguses is said to contain the bones of Holy Nicolas who was buried there by the Crusaders. Although much of it has remained unspoiled, Ireland has undergone much change. It is a land of great natural beauty, healthy commercial success and excellent hospitality: a wild green island set in the wild Atlantic Ocean!

Rich and eccentric Scottish brewery heir, Colonel William Hall-Walker, had the idea of a creating unique horse breeding scheme that would be based upon astrological calculation. The Wicklow Mountains are a natural paradise of mountains, swamps and lakes, beautiful valleys and a fascinating mountain landscape to the south of Dublin. Jerpoint Abbey near Thomastown dates back to the twelfth century. It is one of the most beautiful Cistercian ruins in Ireland. The Cistercians built the monastery in characteristic style and one of the stone sarcophaguses is said to contain the bones of Holy Nicolas who was buried there by the Crusaders. Although much of it has remained unspoiled, Ireland has undergone much change. One cannot skip the Jameson whiskey factory, the Guinness Brewery, and the pubs of the Temple Bar district, where live music is played every evening. Dublin is the city of G. B. Shaw, Oscar Wilde, Yeats, Swift and James Joyce, and the famous Irish dance also originates from here. The countryside has many beautiful castles, parks and charming medieval villages, while nature comforts the visitor with such beauties as the Powerscourt waterfall, the ‘glen of the two lakes’, the limestone plateau of Burren or the Cliffs of Moher.

Dublin Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Dublin in Ireland.
It has seen much transformation and is a combination of several building styles. After the Vikings, the Normans conquered the city and ruled over it for 700 years and under King Henry VIII, Dublin became the capital of what was then a British colony.
Trinity College is Ireland's oldest and most venerable university. It was founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I. The high standard of education offered here has attracted famous pupils such as Jonathan Swift, Henry Grattan and Samuel Becket.
Dublin's General Post Office was once the site of an important historical event. Under the leadership of Padraig Pearse and James Connolly, around a hundred men occupied the post office and thus began Ireland's struggle for Independence. In Easter of 1916, the Irish Republic was born.
Bursting with pubs and music, this most hospitable city is a wonderful combination of lively city life and infectious Irish blarney!

Ireland is an island in north-western Europe which has been divided politically since 1920. Most of the island is made up of Ireland (Irish: Éire, also known as Poblacht na hÉireann = the Republic of Ireland). The remainder is Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom.

============
Blarney Castle - Located in County Cork This historic castle is known for its "Blarney Stone." Tradition is that if the Blarney Stone is kissed, one will be blessed with great eloquence, better known as "the gift of the gab." One kisses the stone by lying back and being held by an employee of the castle. Photographers are there to capture the moment!
Cliffs of Moher - Located in County Clare One of Ireland's biggest and most visited tourist attractions. The Cliffs are 230 meters in height and tower over the Atlantic Ocean. This attraction, whilst beautiful in the Summer, can be a bit of a tourist trap. If you intend to take your own transport, the over-priced car park is your only option (since the road is too narrow to park on) and to purchase your 'pay-and-display' parking ticket, you will need to go all the way through the gift shop (on the opposite side of the road), before returning to place it in your car.
Kilkenny - One of Ireland's favourite tourist spots, this Medieval Capital just 1 hour 40 minutes train out of Dublin City is a must see. Its beautiful buildings and of course imposing Norman Castle - not to mention the numerous festivals including the Arts Festival and Rhythm and Roots Festival - make Kilkenny a most desirable location.
Co. Donegal - An amazing area to see if you have your own transport, as bus services can be fairly limited. This part of the country is very traditional and you can expect to see plenty of low stone walls, thatched roof houses, rugged hills, cliffs and golden sand beaches. Best visited during Spring or Summer, there are plenty of hills walks and photo opportunities waiting to be discovered.

==========
Bus Tours - For travellers wishing to experience Ireland on a budget, there are a variety of inexpensive bus tours in almost every part of the country. These tours can range from hop-on hop-off busses in major cities such as Dublin and Cork to 5-day trips through some of the most scenic parts of the country. The bus drivers/guides are generally well informed about Irish history and enjoy sharing local legends and songs with anyone happy to 'lend and ear'.

Come With Me To IRELAND! | Travel VLOG
Follow my adventures as I experience being in a medieval castle, Irish dancing, the Guinness factory and more (unfortunately no Leprechauns show up).
I had the time of my life on my trip to Ireland back in November when I visited Dublin, Galway and Connemara.
P.S. I apologize for spinning/twirling around so much. I thought I was in The Sound Of Music or something...

Travel in the Republic of Ireland
After some brilliant time in my homeland, I hopped on yet another plane and headed across the sea to Ireland. My first stop in Ireland was the city of Cork in which was in the midst of watching its team play in the Irish Hurling Championships. Naturally, I joined right in on the festivities.
From Cork, I wound up in Dublin where I ran a photography workshop with a couple people. We explored much of that part of Ireland including one of my favourite places to photograph in the entire world, a little town called Howth. After Howth, I took the bus across to the West side of Ireland to the city of Limerick, Ireland. I actually really enjoyed Limerick. It doesn't follow that typical happy jovial feeling you get in other Irish cities and instead feels really raw.
Anyways, my time in Ireland was quite short, and I'm heading across to the mainland of Europe for my next episode. Stay tuned!

Belfast and the Best of Northern Ireland
We start in bustling Belfast's City Hall and Ulster Museum, then head out to Northern Ireland's favorite resort: Portrush, along the Antrim Coast, where we taste-test Irish whiskey, scramble over some six-sided geology in the Giant's Causeway, drop in on a world-class golf course, and stomp our feet to some traditional music.

Passport to Europe with Samantha Brown in Prague, Czech Republic
With her bags packed and passport in hand, Travel Expert Samantha Brown takes off on an adventure to over 30 European destinations. Along the way Samantha offers up practical information and real travel tips - things you wish were covered in the travel guides!
She'll give viewers a feel for the essence of these fascinating cities through her travel experiences, plus she'll share tips on where to stay, what to see, where to eat, shop and play. This isn't just a great hotel this is your Passport to Europe!
Quick, what have you heard about Prague? Well, until recently probably, not much. That's because until 1990 Prague was a city closed to visitors but today it is one of the most popular European destinations. Travel expert Samantha Brown introduces us to Prague, a city which has recently opened her arms to those wishing to enjoy her unspoiled architecture, art, music, and unique style - one you'll find nowhere else in the world. Samantha shows us that Prague is a city of expression - where arts are a way of life. Where else can you find a city where almost every person owns their own musical instrument, and yet they also manage to consume more beer than any other country in the world? Samantha shows us the city streets where Mozart walked - he was so found of Prague he declared himself a citizen. She'll introduce us to a hotel that takes its inspiration from music - whether it's Mozart, Beethoven, Led Zeppelin or the Elvis suite - this is no heartbreak hotel!
