Iraq Executes Prisoners; 120 Killed across Country
White House advisors are recommending deploying U.S. troops closer to the front lines in both Iraq and Syria.
Ten former ministers were found guilty on corruption charges.
At least 120 were killed and 55 were wounded:
In Baghdad, a suicide bomber killed seven people and wounded 23 more at a tent set up to serve Ashura pilgrims in Shabb. At least seven militants were killed and two were wounded by security forces
Two people were killed and nine were wounded when a bomb exploded in Madaen.
A married couple was shot to death, and their bodies were burned in Husseiniya.
A bomb killed a soldier in Latifiya and wounded at least five more.
A bomb near a school in Tuz left one dead and two wounded.
Near Dour, a bomb wounded two electrical workers.
The Iraqi government announced the execution of 20 men on terrorism charges. It is unclear when the executions took place. Another160 men were given death sentences recently.
Peshmerga forces killed 18 militants in Sinjar.
In Shirqat, 17 militants were killed.
Airstrikes in Nineveh province left 15 militants dead.
In Qairawan, a bomb killed nine militants and wounded 12 more.
Eight militants were killed in Albu Aitha.
Two more were killed in Albu Faraj.
