Ethnobotany All Hands Gathering
Ethnobotany All Hands Gathering
Ethnobotany All Hands Gathering
The gathering and use of plants in the Kuskokwim Delta of SW Alaska has a long tradition among the Yup’ik and Cup’ik peoples in the region. The study of this traditional knowledge, ethnobotany (EBOT), was brought to the academic realm at the Kuskokwim Campus (KuC) of the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2003 through a U.S. Department of Agriculture Alaska Native Native Hawai’ian Serving Institutions grant.
Seeking sustainability and community input, in May 2014, the EBOT Program held an All Hands Gathering in Sitka Alaska, to identify new directions and potential partners to help sustain and grow this unique Program.
