The Bernina Range is a mountain range in the Alps of eastern Switzerland and northern Italy. It is considered to be part of the Rhaetian Alps within the Central Eastern Alps. It is one of the highest ranges of the Alps, covered with many glaciers. Piz Bernina (4,049 m), its highest peak, is the most easterly four thousand-metre peak in the Alps. The peak in the range which sees the most ascents is Piz Palü.
The Bernina Range is separated from the Albula Range in the north-west by the Maloja Pass and the Upper Engadin valley; from the Livigno Range in the east by the Bernina Pass; from the Bergamo Alps in the south by the Adda valley (Valtellina); and from the Bregaglia Range in the south-west by the Muretto Pass. The Bernina Range is drained by the rivers Adda, Inn and Maira (Mera in Italy).
The term Bernina Alps can also be used in an extended sense to include both the Bernina and Bregaglia ranges; this is the area coloured yellow on the map (right) and labelled ‘Bernina Alpen’.
Piz Bernina (4,048.6 m (13,283 ft)) is the highest mountain in the Eastern Alps, the highest point of the Bernina Range, and the highest peak in the Rhaetian Alps. It is also the most easterly mountain higher than 4,000 m (13,000 ft) in the Alps, the highest point of the Swiss canton of Graubünden, and the fifth-most prominent peak in the Alps. Piz Bernina is located south of Pontresina and near the major Alpine resort of St. Moritz, in the Engadin valley.
The mountain was named after the Bernina Pass in 1850 by Johann Coaz, who also made the first ascent. The prefix Piz comes from the Romansch language in Graubünden; any mountain with that name can be readily identified as being located in southeastern Switzerland.
Piz Bernina is one of the few isolated Alpine four-thousanders and the most topographically isolated mountain of Switzerland. It is the culminating point of a group of summits slightly lower than 4,000 meters (13,120 feet) mostly lying on the main watershed between Switzerland and Italy (such as Piz Scerscen, Piz Zupò, and Piz Palü). The only other summit higher than 4,000 m (13,000 ft) is La Spedla (the Shoulder), a minor prominence south of the mountain, which is also the highest point on the Italian side of the massif.
The Bernina Pass (el. 2328 m.) (Italian: Passo del Bernina) is a high mountain pass in the Bernina Range of the Alps, in the canton of Graubünden (Grisons) in eastern Switzerland. It connects the famous resort town of St. Moritz in the Engadin valley with the Italian-speaking Val Poschiavo, which ends in the Italian town of Tirano in Valtellina. The pass lies a few kilometres east of Piz Bernina. A lower pass is located west of the Bernina Pass, at 2,253 metres.
The Bernina Pass is crossed by road and rail, with a popular tourist train, the Bernina Express operating year-round between Chur and Tirano. The train crosses the lowest pass at 2,253 metres (at Ospizio Bernina) - it is the highest adhesion railway route in Europe.
Lago Bianco, Lej Nair and Lej Pitschen are located on the pass.

The BERNINA ruler foot # 72 was specifically made for ruler work on BERNINA sewing machines. In this video we show you step by step how to prepare your BERNINA machine and how to use the ruler foot with to create attractive lines and curves – with unparalleled precision. The high-sided edge allows precise quilting around all edges of the template. The adjustment dials wheel allows the height of the presser foot to be customised to the thickness of the quilt. This means that the ruler foot can also be used with BERNINA sewing machines which do not offer the option for adjusting presser foot height. A patented invention exclusively from BERNINA! Markings on the presser foot help to produce accurate seams. The notch at the front of the ruler foot allows you to keep an eye on your work at ...

My Review of the Glacier Express Train in Switzerland, which goes from St. Moritz to Zermatt. We were on the train in December of 2014. The Glacier Express is a train which connects the two major mountain resorts of St. Moritz and Zermatt in the Swiss Alps. It is not an "express" in the sense of being a high-speed train but rather in the sense that it provides a one-seat ride for a long duration travel. In fact it has the reputation of being the slowest express train in the world. It takes 7,5 hours to journey across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass on the highest point at 2,033 m (6,670 ft) in altitude. The entire line is metre gauge (narrow gauge railway). The Glacier Express is run jointly by two private Swiss railways, the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) ...

You will be well equipped to handle this with the BERNINA lap seam feet no. 70 and 71. The lap seam foot no. 70 is suitable for four millimetre wide seams, the no. 71 for eight millimetre seams. Our video shows you how to attach, select and use the desired lap seam foot and how you can use the BERNINA free-hand system (FHS) in connection with the lap seam foot to guide your fabric more accurately. Aside from this, the video tutorial also of...
This is a great train ride with spectacular view all the way. When we got to the top of summit, just wild what we saw. Snow peaked mountains, ice covered summit lakes, skiers skying past the train. Really glad the weather was on our side. Sometimes, It could be a whole trip in the clouds with nothing to look at.
One look up after arriving in Grindelwald, Switzerland and I am star struck. And not by a person, but by a mountain made even more mythical with thick clouds rolling across the middle of it. The Eiger's North Face calls only the most daring climbers and is one not one to be taken lightly. Over the centuries, it has claimed the lives of many explorers trying to tackle it. Even with modern climbing equipment and guides today, it’s still a daunting task for experienced and well practiced climbers only. I am no such climber, but it doesn't make looking at the mountain any less thrilling. Skiing at the base of Mt. Eiger is a true bucket list item for mountain junkies, and one I did feel comfortable tackling. It’s one thing to see Eiger from a distance but when you are skiing at the base, it’s...
Bernina Express Switzerland - what to expect, how to plan, tips Bernina Express scenic train | It's arguably the most scenic Swiss train ride train of all - although the Glacier Express competes for the title. Indeed, it's one of the most scenic train rides in Europe, or for that matter, the world, and a personal favourite too. The fabulous Bernina Express is a narrow gauge train with panoramic sightseeing cars run by the Rhätische Bahn from Chur & St Moritz in eastern Switzerland south to Tirano, just across the border in northern Italy. You can travel in summer or winter, indeed, it's a totally different experience in the Swiss winter wonderland as through the sunny Swiss meadows in summer, so why not try both On this page I'll also explain how to use the Bernina Express as part of...
