Eddie Routh Confesses Cops Navy SEAL Chris Kyle Killing | Admits Wrongdoing | Confession Several hours after he killed decorated Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle and his best friend, Chad Littlefield, Eddie Ray Routh gave a bizarre, rambling confession in which he mentioned wolfs, square towns and warlords. “There are tons of people who are eating on my soul right now,” Routh told Texas Ranger Danny Briley, the lead investigator on the case. “I haven’t been able to sleep. I’ve been waiting for them to come back and eat my soul. I wish the world wasn’t such a soulless place.” Moments later, he told Briley that “he had to get out of that situation.” Related Erath County Sheriff's Deputy Kenny Phillips was the first witness Monday in the capital murder trial of Eddie Ray Routh in Stephenville. Erath County Sheriff's Deputy Kenny Phillips was the first witness Monday in the capital murder trial of Eddie Ray Routh in Stephenville. | Rodger Mallison Fort Worth Star-Telegram ›‹ Chad Littlefield and Chris Kyle: ‘Two heroes died that day’ Kyle described Routh as ‘nuts’ before killings Former deputy: Routh said, ‘I shot them because they wouldn’t talk to me’ Routh talked of taking ‘souls’ after killings, police say “It wasn’t a want, it was a need,” Routh said. “… I was going to be the next one out there getting my head shot off.” Routh’s 1 1/2-hour recorded confession was played for the jury of 10 women and two men on Monday as Routh’s capital murder trial entered a second week of testimony. Routh’s mental state is the linchpin of his trial, and his videotaped confession is a key piece of evidence. Routh, 27, a Marine veteran, is on trial in state district Judge Jason Cashon’s court, charged with capital murder in the fatal shootings of Kyle, 38, and Littlefield, 35, on Feb. 2, 2013, at an upscale shooting range at Rough Creek Lodge, a resort southwest of Glen Rose. Defense attorneys Warren St. John, Tim Moore and R. Shay Isham are arguing that Routh is not guilty by reason of insanity — a defense that requires them to prove that he was suffering from a severe mental disease or defect at the time of the slayings and did not know that his conduct was wrong. A tape of his confession was played in court in Stephenville, Texas on Monday as Routh's murder trial entered its second week. The former Marine, 27, is accused of shooting dead Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield after they took him to a gun range in February 2013 as he battled PTSD. In the taped confession, which was taken just hours after he was arrested, Routh told Texas Ranger Danny Briley that he killed the men because he thought they were 'headhunters' who were 'trying to hunt everybody down'. Ultimately though, he said they not as well trained as him so he was able to take them out. He shot dead Kyle first - because he recognized him more - before shooting dead Littlefield, he said. John Mark is a character in the New Testament. According to William Lane, an "unbroken tradition" identifies him with Mark the Evangelist. John Mark is mentioned several times in the Acts of the Apostles. The first mention is in Acts 12:12, when Peter is coming to his mother's house:
When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying.
John Mark himself appears a bit later in the same chapter, in Acts 12:25, as the travel companion of Saul (Apostle Paul) and Barnabas:
When Barnabas and Saul had finished their mission, they returned from Jerusalem, taking with them John, also called Mark.
John Mark is mentioned soon after the Council of Jerusalem in Acts 15:37-41. Paul (Saul) does not have a too flattering impression of his former associate, arguing over him with Barnabas in Antioch:
Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them, but Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work. They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus, but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the believers to the grace of the Lord. He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.
