Conan Christopher O'Brien (born April 18, 1963) is an American television host, comedian, writer, producer and performer. Since November 2010 he has hosted Conan, a late-night talk show that airs on the American cable television station TBS.
O'Brien was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, and raised in an Irish Catholic family. He served as president of the Harvard Lampoon while attending Harvard University, and was a writer for the sketch comedy series Not Necessarily the News. After writing for several comedy shows in Los Angeles, he joined the writing staff of Saturday Night Live, and later of The Simpsons. He hosted Late Night with Conan O'Brien from 1993 to 2009, followed by seven months hosting The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, the only person to serve as the permanent host for both NBC programs.
O'Brien was born in Brookline, Massachusetts (a suburb of Boston) to Thomas O'Brien, a physician, epidemiologist, and professor of medicine at Harvard, and Ruth O'Brien (née Reardon), an attorney and partner at the Boston firm Ropes & Gray. He is the third of six children. O'Brien's family is Irish Catholic and descends from pre-Civil War era immigrants. In a Late Night episode, O'Brien paid a visit to County Kerry, Ireland, where his ancestors originated.

Kenneth Lauren "Ken" Burns (born July 29, 1953) is an American director and producer of documentary films, known for his style of using archival footage and photographs. Among his productions are The Civil War (1990), Baseball (1994), Jazz (2001), The War (2007), The National Parks: America's Best Idea (2009) and Prohibition (2011).
Burns' documentaries have been nominated for two Academy Awards, and have won Emmy Awards, among other honors.
Ken Burns was born in 1953 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, according to his official website, though some sources give Ann Arbor, Michigan, and some, including The New York Times, give both Brooklyn and Ann Arbor. The son of Lyla Smith (née Tupper) Burns, a biotechnician, and Robert Kyle Burns, at the time a graduate student in cultural anthropology at Columbia University, in Manhattan. Ken Burns' brother is the documentary filmmaker Ric Burns.
Burns' academic family moved frequently, and lived in Saint-Véran, France; Newark, Delaware; and Ann Arbor, where his father taught at the University of Michigan. Burns' mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when Burns was 3, and died when he was 11, a circumstance that he said helped shape his career; he credited his father-in-law, a psychologist, with a signal insight: "He told me that my whole work was an attempt to make people long gone come back alive.". Well-read as a child, he absorbed the family encyclopedia, preferring history to fiction. Upon receiving an 8 mm film movie camera for his 17th birthday, he shot a documentary about an Ann Arbor factory. Turning down reduced tuition at the University of Michigan, he attended the new Hampshire College, an alternative school in Amherst, Massachusetts with narrative evaluations rather than letter grades and self-directed academic concentrations instead of traditional majors. He worked in a record store to pay his tuition.

Det er håbet at den nye klipning indfrier forventningerne til et historisk og politisk relevant drama. Danmarks Radio har forsøgt at gøre 1864 mindre anti-højreorienteret og har anvendt interne resurser. Der er derudover et større fokus på action og det tyske eksportmarked. I know the song is about the final battles in Berlin and about the Germans taking part in trying to achive the breakthrough, though I think the song fits really well on the situration the Danes faced in the second Schleswig war of 1864. Outnumbered, outgunned and the 8th brigades counter attack which despite it's failure was acknowledged for it's bravery, and helped the remnants of 1st and 3rd Brigades escape to the pier opposite Sønderborg.

I've had this film on my pc for a long time and it was one of the few things I was able to salvage from my harddrive before it decided to cook... I have been able to salvage bits and pieces from other projects too but this have not helped my motivation for first contact war at all unfortunantly... Anyway please enjoy.

Two brothers; Laust and Peter grow up under poor but happy in the Danish countryside. Both boys fall in love with the adorable Inge, a local Proprietor s daughter, who in turns loves Peter for his sensitivity and intellect, and Laust for his strength and drive.
Following victories in the First Schleswig-Holstein War of 1848-50, where Denmark defeated a rebel army that fought for independence , Danish political forces are scheming to annex Schleswig into the Danish Kingdom in utter disregard of a treaty signed with the major powers of Europe, sparking a Second Schleswig-Holstein War.
This time, however, Denmark is not facing a small rebel army but two major German powers: Prussia and Austria. Peter and Laust, whose own father died from wounds caused by a German bullet in 1850, quickly volunteer for the army.

Efter seer- og anmelderkritik har Danmarks Radio valgt at lave en ny klipning af Ole Bornedals 1864. Det er håbet at den nye klipning indfrier forventningerne til et historisk og politisk relevant drama.
Danmarks Radio har forsøgt at gøre 1864 mindre anti-højreorienteret og har anvendt interne resurser. Der er derudover et større fokus på action og det tyske eksportmarked.
Det har tydeligvis været en svær balancegang, hvor DR på den ene side skal tilgodese centrum-venstre og på den anden side underholde det unge segment og dumme vælgere fra Dansk Folkeparti.

Most of them had already died. One Federal remembered that “I saw no live man lying on this ground. The wounded must have suffered horribly before death relieved them, lying there exposed to the blazing southern sun o' days, and being eaten alive by beetles o' nights.”
In this simulation the Union troops lost approximately 5,300 men - in actuality, they lost about 6,000 men in the assault on June 3, 1864.
