Kool Keith: Rappers Were Mad at Eminem Shout Out
http://www.vladtv.com - Kool Keith opens up about Eminem giving him a shout on "Monster," where the Detroit rapper said he was "Going coo-coo and kooky as Kool Keith." The Bronx rapper says that it was crazy hearing Em shout him out, and says that a lot of rappers that really look up to Em were mad about it.
The Ultramagnetic MCs rapper understood where Em was coming from with the line, with all the different personas that Keith has taken on during his career, but adds that he feels Eminem "has a lot of issues with himself." He references Stan, Em's obsessive fan, along with the more personal songs that he's put out.
When asked if he feels he invented internal rhyme style, Keith says that he's never felt that he's had to rhyme on the "rules of rhyming." He speaks about simple rhymes in...

Sounds Beautiful Like The Truth
From "Aardman Nathan Love" Creative Studio:
A colorful, fast-paced film that serves up a variety of hypnotic imagery from eye charts to kaleidoscopic wheels around Doom’s iconic, ever-rotating mask as its centerpiece, “Super Hero” is the wondrous result of Merc and Aardman Nathan Love leveraging creative synergy while indulging their mutual admiration for the musical talent involved. “Being a huge fan of both Kool Keith and MF Doom for years, and knowing our studio had capacity to help Kris out, we couldn’t NOT get involved,” recalls ANL Founder/Executive Creative Director, Joe Burrascano. “Kris was able to let his imagination run wild. ANL’s team of designers, 3D artists, and technical directors gave him all the support he needed to help shape his vision and make the final piece as strong and unique as possible.”
According to Merc, who’s helmed notable projects from music videos for hip-hop pioneers De La Soul to spots for HTC during his lengthy career, the “Super Hero” production afforded him the space to realize his vision of bending and manipulating pop aesthetics to create something altogether mysterious and otherworldly. “I wanted to capture something that felt like a visual pop travesty,” the director explains. “I wanted it to visually speak to the legacy of the artists, and Afrofuturism mixed with comic book concepts. I’m a fan of the unseen, and I was obsessed with the idea of using Doom’s mask and the iconography as a centralized point – as if time and space converged around these strange, sometimes magical tableaus and we were witnessing an ascension.”
To help develop his ambitious, imaginative concepts, Merc worked closely with Aardman Nathan Love in several key stages of production from ideation and design to technical aspects like compositing and rendering. “Our specialty lies mainly in CG character animation work, which typically involves a lot of careful planning and development work up front,” adds ANL CG Director Eric Cunha. “Kris has a very organic process, and is constantly finding inspiration for new and exciting ideas. The biggest challenge we faced was being able to respond to this constant flow of new ideas, and facilitate the growth of the piece. In the end, it was an exciting new challenge that pushed us to develop a new way of working that resulted in an amazing, visually fresh and creative piece of work.”

In a world full of cheesecake rappers, one man has assembled a phenomenal team to bring you madness. So stop stop what you're doing and get ready for a journey you've never taken before. Enter the sinister doctor, the Ultramagnetic visionary, Kool Keith, whose "Feature Magnetic," released Sept. 16 on Mello Music Group, is his latest bizarre transformative odyssey .
As always, Keith seems unstuck in time, oblivious to geography, brilliantly mixed unflinchingly grim details with surreal, fantastical tangents. He’s from the Bronx, but belongs to far-reaching astral dimensions. And Where many of his contemporaries have become legacy acts or revivalists, Keith continues to originate and perfect his wild style. He’s parked behind Oracle Arena in Oakland with Norah Jones -- riding a horse and carriage through Central Park (bystanders shout that he looks like Mike Tyson). He drinks with MF DOOM in dusty London basement and recruits a legendary squadron of fellow travelers including Sadat X (Brand Nubian), Bumpy Knuckles, Boston pioneer Ed O.G., Slug from Atmosphere, and Vallejo legend Mac Mall.
Throughout, Keith weaves in and out of our reality, stopping only long enough to dap his friends and pass the mic. The songs are straightforward: spare, innovative beats, simple hooks, and razor-sharp verses from an unlikely collection of geniuses. Keith switches moods, cadences, and points of view effortlessly. On “Tired” he’s world-weary and unappreciated; on “Bragging Rights,” the mink coat melts off his shoulders like butter. “Peer Pressure” cryptically considers his career and the shifting racial demographics of his audience, a far cry from the scene in “Stratocaster” when he pulls up in the teal Maybach, handing out off-the-book jobs to the people.
In an era of careful branding and secret signings, it’s a radical act to put out a rap record where no MC can hide. The no-frills approach is a high-wire act, the kind of format that weeds out the fakes and the imitators. Predictably, however, "Feature Magnetic" is full of world-class acrobats. On the closing track “Writers,” Ras Kass sums it up best: “H-O-R-S, me and Kool Keith playing HORSE with a verse/ ...all you hear is swish.”
