Temporal Lobe Epilepsy. Disclaimer: Those are of my own thoughts,so none of what I had stated here is from cutting & pasting. My understanding stems from years of study..Temporal Lobe Epilepsy,& the symptoms associated with this brain aliment should not be confused or associated with traditional mental illnesses associated with paranoia, schizophrenia or any of those classifications which involve the need,& treatment though psychotropic medications,& or psychotherapy.Those types of mental illness tend to have differing underlying causes as in the aforementioned,but Those suffers with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy are treated though other means as in the similar treatments of those associated with grand mal seizure. There are also electrical devises that are now implanted into the brain much as a heart pacer such devices are either installed into the heart or the brain. Both implants work on the same theory by blocking ,or channeling ,or redirecting the electrical impulse, & there are medications that are used to treat such Epileptics.It's been theorized that an over excess of the brain hormone Gaba is associated with such seizure,so medications are used to block Gaba,& among other brain activities much in the same way calcium channel blockers ,or Beta blockers,or ace inhibitors are used for the treatment of cardiovascular disorders.For the brain such type of medications are used to either block or allow. The brain is a very complicated device. but there are In some cases it has been shown that seizure are caused by a brain tumor.One must rule out hormonal,electrical & or organic causes such as a brain tumor,& or a bacterial infection. Once all factors are ruled out then the proper treatment must be implemented. Now it must be noted that patients showing symptoms of distress as discussed in this video must be first evaluated by either a neurologist,or a psychiatrist in order to determine are the symptoms caused due in part to a psychotic breakdown caused by a state of paranoia or schizophrenia ,or is it caused due in part associated with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy.What must be established is pre post & acute symptoms.It should also be noted that psychotic breakdowns could be caused due in part to some underlying medical condition such as a brain tumor. An auditory hallucinations, & or visual hallucinations could be caused by a brain tumor growing or putting pressure on either the visual cortex ;optic nerve, & or in the regions of the brain that regulars hearing ,& sound such as in the auditory sensors, & auditory nerve. All factors must be ruled out before proper treatment is established. There are also cases in which there are no or is No tumor or tumors present,but the schizophrenia still exists. in such cases this is treated with psychotropic medication anti psychotics & or hospitalization. Bottom line.If you are suffering from Temporal Lobe Epilepsy,& this is the case;it does not mean you are batshit insane. Temporal Lobe Epilepsy is not a necessarily psychiatric disorder. The more I learn about psychology & physiology & abnormal psychology the more I realize that I don't understand it all ,& that I only scratched the surface. I believe there are other mental states in which people feel unhinged. the field of abnormal psychology is a deep subject. I believe most insane people don't know they are insane.
