Ghajar (Arabic: غجر; Hebrew: ע'ג'ר or רג'ר) is an Arab village on the Hasbani River on the border between Lebanon and the Israeli-occupied portion of the Golan Heights, internationally considered to be de jure part of Syria. Its inhabitants are members of the Alawite community.
Control over Ghajar has changed hands many times. Three hundred years ago, the village was known as Taranjeh. It was renamed Ghajar under the rule of the Ottoman Empire, when the land was allegedly seized from the "villagers" by Kurds and forcibly sold. According to "local" legend, the Kurdish governor of Ghajar tried to ride his horse onto the tomb of a local holy man, Sheikh al-Arba'in. The horse refused and the following day a fire broke out, destroying the governor's shield and sword. The Kurds fled and quickly sold it back.
The Letters is a 2014 American biographical drama film directed and written by William Riead. The film stars Juliet Stevenson, Max von Sydow, Rutger Hauer and Priya Darshini. It was produced by Colin Azzopardi, Tony Cordeaux, and Lisa Riead. It was released theatrically by Freestyle Releasing on December 4, 2015.
Mother Teresa (Juliet Stevenson), recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, is considered one of the greatest humanitarians of modern times. Her selfless commitment changed hearts, lives and inspired millions throughout the world. The film is told through personal letters she wrote over the last forty years of her life and reveal a troubled and vulnerable woman who grew to feel an isolation and an abandonment by God. The story is told from the point of view of a Vatican priest (Max von Sydow) charged with the task of investigating acts and events following her death. He recounts her life’s work, her political oppression, her religious zeal, and her unbreakable spirit.
Nick McAnulty is a Canadian film maker who was born in Guelph, Ontario.
McAnulty's feature-film directorial debut, the 2010 film Uncle Brian, premiered at the 2010 New York International Children's Film Festival where it was honoured with two award nominations for Best Feature Film and Best Lead Actor, with Daniel MacLean winning that award for his title-role performance.
Allan Stewart may refer to:
Horror is a film genre seeking to elicit a negative emotional reaction from viewers by playing on the audience's primal fears. Inspired by literature from authors like Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker, and Mary Shelley, horror films have existed for more than a century. The macabre and the supernatural are frequent themes, and may overlap with the fantasy, supernatural fiction and thriller genres.
Horror films often deal with viewers' nightmares, fears, revulsions and terror of the unknown. Plots within the horror genre often involve the intrusion of an evil force, event, or personage into the everyday world. Prevalent elements include ghosts, extraterrestrials, vampires, werewolves, demons, gore, torture, vicious animals, evil witches, monsters, zombies, cannibals, psychopaths, and serial killers. Movies about the supernatural are not necessarily horrific.
The first depictions of supernatural events appear in several of the silent shorts created by the film pioneer Georges Méliès in the late 1890s, the best known being Le Manoir du Diable, which is sometimes credited as being the first horror film. Another of his horror projects was 1898's La Caverne maudite (a.k.a. The Cave of the Unholy One, literally "the accursed cave").Japan made early forays into the horror genre with Bake Jizo and Shinin no Sosei, both made in 1898. The era featured a slew of literary adaptations, with the works of Poe and Dante, among others. In 1910, Edison Studios produced the first film version of Frankenstein, following the 1908 film adaptation of the novel Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The macabre nature of the source materials used made the films synonymous with the horror film genre.

On this episode of Tiny Conversations I talk with Farhang Ghajar – a fellow colleague at CBC, actor, and all-around awesome person. Farhang shared the story The Egg by Andy Weir with me and I wanted to talk with him about that story. The Egg is a story for all religions. A story that changed my perspective on compassion and empathy. As Farhang puts it, “It’s a great little thought experiment to teach yourself compassion.” Also, we do some singing from Les Misèrables. Best episode ever? In this one I get to see some crazy looking landscapes. First I head towards Kerman, where I meet Hamid, a guy I met through Facebook. He'll drive me to the point where the hottest temperature ever was recorded, at 70 degrees celsius. Which also happens to be a stunning landscape that made me think I was on Mars. After Kerman, I jump on another bus to reach Chabahar, a town close to the Pakistani border, and part of what used to be Balochistan. There I meet Mobin, a guy I met on Couchsurfing, that will host me for a couple of days. Together we go check out some other crazy mountains, and this time I feel like I'm on the moon. If all that wasn't enough, we then spot a pink lake. This episode alone should make you wanna come to Iran! Enjoy the video and subscribe! Fol...
