Ximending (Chinese: 西門町; pinyin: Xīméndīng; Wade–Giles: Hsi-men-ting; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Se-mn̂g-teng; Romaji: Seimon-chō; sometimes Ximenting) is a neighborhood and shopping district in the Wanhua District of Taipei, Taiwan. It was the first pedestrian zone in Taiwan.
Ximending has been called the "Harajuku of Taipei" and the "Shibuya of Taipei". Ximending is the source of Taiwan's fashion, subculture, and Japanese culture. Ximending has a host of many clubs and pubs surrounding the area. This area is in the northeastern part of Wanhua District in Taipei and it is also the most important consumer district in the Western District of Taipei. The well-known Ximending Pedestrian Area was the first pedestrian area built in Taipei and is the largest in Taiwan.
Because many bus lines gather on Zhonghua Road, Ximending is also an important area for bus transfers. Ximending is also accessible via exit 6 of the Taipei Metro Ximen Station (Banqiao Line and Xiaonanmen Line).
My first time visiting Xhimending (西門町) which has tons of night life, food and is almost like the Harajuku of Taipei, Taiwan. Day 1 20/01/2016 We arrived at Taoyuan airport, 臺灣桃園國際機場, at 1:15pm, after a 5 hours flight from Singapore Changi Airport. Literally slept throughout the flight (waking up at 4a.m is no simple feat for me). Still dammn sleepy after the flight. To make things worse, i had a sore throat the day before, and still recovering from it.... Thankfully, things took a turn for the better during the later part of the day, when we were at Ximending 西門町. As usual, we can never run away from all those funny and stupid stuff that each and everyone of us did :) Our apartment at New Taipei City https://www.airbnb.com.sg/rooms/5117731 Modern Toilet Restaurant 便所主題餐廳 http://www.moderntoilet.com.tw/en/

Ximending, Taipei's version of Times Square! Lots of overwhelming flashing lights.. people.. food.. and POOP? Yep, that's right. Poop. If you don't know already, you can find a restaurant that serves their food in a toilet. I've never been before, but I can proudly say that I can check that off my To-Visit list. Today's Vlog: Getting overwhelmed at Ximending, Eating where I shit? Eating from what I shit in...? CORGI ~~~~ Where to find Annie's Way mask, Trying Grape Beer. Thank you so much for watching~ Feel free to leave any questions about anything in the comments!! If you are curious, the Beauty Shops address is: 台北市萬華區漢中街50巷2號2樓 http://instagram.com/anneluuu
*Please watch in HD* This is a daytime overview of Ximending (西門町), the pedestrian shopping district, which is very 'hip' with young and trendy Taiwanese. It looks even better at nighttime, with all the neon lights lit up. As I walked around here, I got a very strong comparison to Myeongdong in Seoul (check out that video to see what I mean). Recorded May 5, 2012.
This is a travel guide for the Ximending 西門町 district of Taipei Taiwan. A pedistrian only area that many suggest is similar to the Harajuku/Shibuya Districts of Tokyo. To be up most honest, I dislike it very much to come to Ximending LOL I know it is where virtually all the teenagers hang out and like a toursity place also and the vibe is very young and hip. My problem is that there just people everywhere and things here are all dirt cheap made of china 3 USD kind of clothes. Not to mention the crowds... everywhere you go just people walking shoulders bumping shoulders. The culture here is also... hmmm well let's just say crimes happen in Ximending more often than other places because gangsters also hang out here. Should be pretty safe during the day though... early mornings & nights I honestly can't guarantee... That being said! Red House Theatre is well if you find yourself at Ximending for some reason (I told you not to come!), pay red house a visit....
