An old detective clashes with a young detective when they attempt to solve two murder mysteries in this classic b-movie "old house" mystery. Directed by Charles Lamont.
Nels Nelson, a cruel and embittered captain of a whaling vessel, who was deserted by his wife 20 years earlier, sails to San Francisco, where he takes aboard young Tom Walton, a spendthrift rejected by his guardian. A shortage of water develops, and Nelson is overpowered by a mutiny. Tom, sent ashore, discovers two castaways--an old man and a beautiful young girl--and he brings them aboard. Nelson, who sees in the girl proof of his wife's unfaithfulness, torments and humiliates her at every opportunity. Tom takes her away in a small boat, and alarmed by storm clouds, Nelson puts out to sea. During the storm, Nelson discovers in the girl's Bible a record of his wife's blameless life, and learning that she is his own daughter he returns to rescue her. Cast Hobart Bosworth ... Silent melodrama set in the 1840s during the westward migration of the Mormons. Here's the description from IMDb (written by Fiona Kelleghan): "This silent melodrama is set against the 1840s westward migration of the Mormons. Dora, a young woman, and her family are saved from an Indian attack by a Mormon community traveling to Utah. They join the wagon train. Dora is pursued by two men, one a recent convert, the other a scheming elder with a stable of wives. The Mormon elder wants her in his harem. When the mother kills herself from revulsion toward polygamy, the daughter must consider her own future and the man she loves. One of Mae Murray's few surviving films, this was intended by Robert Leonard to be a thoughtful drama about the goods and evils of Mormonism, but today it is generally considered pure anti-Mormon propaganda." Directed by Robert Z. Leonard. Starring Mae Murray, Frank Borzage, Hobart Bosworth, Edythe Chapman, Noah Beery, Richard Cummings http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0008319

http://www.expedia.com/Hobart.d6052485.Destination-Travel-Guides When you first arrive in Hobart, you may not be aware that you’re exploring a former prison. This onetime penal colony is located between Mount Wellington and Port Hobart, and features a number of exquisite colonial buildings in breathtaking natural surroundings. There’s a variety of things to do within the city, so chow down on seafood from a waterfront restaurant before stopping by one of the galleries built into old whale oil warehouses. Don’t forget to check out the Hobart Theatre, a must-see on any Hobart tour. This structure was built by convicts brought to Australia in the 19th century, and it still hosts live performances today. Hobart sightseeing will no doubt include the Maritime Museum, which celebrates Hobart’s ties to the sea. Go for a sail on the Lady Nelson, a tall ship that makes regular excursions out to the harbor. You’ll work up an appetite trimming the sails and steering the ship, so why not venture to the Salamanca Market? For over 30 years, this market has featured fresh produce, local artwork, and clothing, and you’re bound to score a good bargain. Next, go upriver to MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art. This building descends three floors down into the cliffs surrounding it, and its often dark-natured artwork is featured in vast, cavernous spaces. All that art is bound to make you thirsty, so pay a visit to some of the wineries dotting Hobart’s surrounding landscape. Sip responsibly on a glass of wine, nibble a wedge of cheese, and enjoy the rolling green hills around you. Now this is living! What will you do on your Hobart tour? Check Our Website : http://www.travels1001nights.com Tasmania (abbreviated as Tas and known colloquially as "Tassie"; /tæzˈmeɪniə/[10]) is an island state, part of the Commonwealth of Australia, located 240 kilometres (150 mi) to the south of the Australian continent, separated by Bass Strait. The state includes the island of Tasmania, the 26th largest island in the world, and the surrounding 334 islands.[11] The state has a population of 507,626 (as of June 2010), of whom almost half reside in the greater Hobart precinct. Tasmania's area is 68,401 square kilometres (26,410 sq mi), of which the main island covers 64,519 square kilometres (24,911 sq mi).[12] Tasmania is promoted as the natural state, and A World Apart, Not A World Away owing to its large and relatively unspoiled natural environment. Almost 45% of Tasmania lies in reserves, national parks and World Heritage Sites.[13] The island is 364 kilometres (226 mi) long from its northernmost to its southernmost points, and 306 kilometres (190 mi) from east to west. The state capital and largest city is Hobart, which encompasses the local government areas of City of Hobart, City of Glenorchy, and City of Clarence, while the satellite town of Kingston (part of the Municipality of Kingborough) is generally included in the Greater Hobart area. The northernmost terrestrial point of the state of Tasmania is Boundary Islet, a nature reserve in Bass Strait which, due to a quirk of history, is shared with the state of Victoria. The subantarctic Macquarie Island and its surrounding islands are also under the administration of Tasmania as a nature reserve and part of the Huon Valley Council local government area. The Bishop and Clerk Islets, about 37 km south of Macquarie Island, are the southernmost terrestrial point of the state of Tasmania, and the southernmost internationally recognised land in Australia. The Hobart class is a ship class of three air warfare destroyers (AWDs) being built for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Planning for a class to replace the Adelaide class frigates and restore the capability last exhibited by the Perth class destroyers began by 2000, initially under acquisition project SEA 1400, which was redesignated SEA 4000. Although the designation "Air Warfare Destroyer" is used to describe ships dedicated to the defence of a naval force (plus assets ashore) from aircraft and missile attack, the planned Australian destroyers would also be able to operate in anti-surface, anti-submarine, and naval gunfire support roles. Planning for the Australian Air Warfare Destroyer (as the class was known until 2006) continued through the mid-2000s, with the selection of the Aegis combat system as the intended combat system and ASC as the primary shipbuilder in 2005. In late 2005, the AWD Alliance was formed as a consortium of the Defence Materiel Organisation, ASC, and Raytheon. Between 2005 and 2007, Gibbs & Cox's Evolved Arleigh Burke class destroyer concept and Navantia's Álvaro de Bazán class frigate competed for selection as the AWD design. Although the Arleigh Burke design was larger and more capable, the Álvaro de Bazán design was selected in June 2007 as it was an existing design, and would be cheaper, quicker, and less risky to build. Three ships were ordered in October 2007, and will be assembled at ASC's facility in Osborne, South Australia, from 31 pre-fabricated modules (or 'blocks'). ASC, NQEA Australia, and the Forgacs Group were selected in May 2009 to build the blocks, but within two months, NQEA was replaced by BAE Systems Australia. Errors with the first hull block and growing delays in construction led the AWD Alliance to redistribute the construction workload in 2011, with some modules to be built by Navantia. An option to build a fourth destroyer was included in the original contract, but has not yet been exercised. The lead ship, Hobart, will enter service in March 2016 (two years later than originally predicted), Brisbane is due to commission in September 2017, and Sydney should be operational by June 2019.

USA Today 2013-06-28Hobart ( /ˈhoʊbɑrt/) is the state capital and most populous city of the Australian island state of Tasmania. Founded in 1804 as a penal colony, Hobart is Australia's second oldest capital city after Sydney. In 2009, the city had a greater area population of approximately 212,019. A resident of Hobart is known as a "Hobartian". The city is located in the state's south-east on the estuary of the Derwent River. The skyline is dominated by Mount Wellington at 1,271 metres (4,170 ft) high. The city is the financial and administrative heart of Tasmania, also serving as the home port for both Australian and French Antarctic operations.
Hobart was named Australia's 6th most sustainable city, by the Australian Conservation Foundation in 2010. For economic and social innovation, Hobart was the 11th placed in Australia in 2009, and listed as an innovation influencer city in the Innovation Cities Global Index scoring equal with Reykjavik, Katowice and Casablanca by 2thinknow.
The first settlement began in 1803 as a penal colony at Risdon Cove on the eastern shores of the Derwent River, amid British concerns over the presence of French explorers. In 1804 it was moved to a better location at the present site of Hobart at Sullivans Cove. The city, initially known as Hobart Town or Hobarton, was named after Lord Hobart, the Colonial Secretary. The area's indigenous inhabitants were members of the semi-nomadic Mouheneener tribe. Violent conflict with the European settlers, and the effects of diseases brought by them, completely destroyed the aboriginal population, which was rapidly replaced by free settlers and the convict population. Charles Darwin visited Hobart Town in February 1836 as part of the Beagle expedition. He writes of Hobart and the Derwent estuary in his Voyage of the Beagle:
Hobart Bosworth (August 11, 1867 – December 30, 1943) was an American film actor, director, writer, and producer.
Born Hobart Van Zandt Bosworth, he was a direct descendant of Miles Standish and John and Priscilla Alden on his father's side and of New York's Van Zandt family, the first Dutch settlers to land in the New World, on his mother's side. Bosworth was always proud of his lineage.
After his mother died, his father remarried and young Hobart took a dislike to his stepmother. Convinced he was "ill used and cruelly treated", in 1914, he told an interviewer he ran away to New York City. There he signed on as a cabin boy aboard the Sovereign of the Seas, a clipper ship, and was soon out to sea.
After his first voyage, a five-month trip that took him from New York to San Francisco, Hobart spent his wages on candy. (Sleeping it off on a bench in the park in back of Trinity Church, the young boy didn't know when dozing off that the organ music was being played by his own uncle, a Captain Roberts, who found stevedore work for young Hobart, told him of his uncle's presence in San Francisco.) He continued as a sailor as the sea was in his family's blood, eventually spending three years at sea.
