Its unique all-in-one form factor was a favorite of schools and businesses. The inclusion of Deskmate also made it one of the first computers to come with e-mail capability!

This program looks at the role Radio Shack played in the early launch of personal computers and the hordes of users who still love their old Tandy PCs. I upgraded my Tandy 1000SL computer with an EGA card and Sound Blaster Pro, but unfortunately my Tandy EGA monitor didn't last long before it went up in smoke. (It was probably the line suppresion capacitor that failed.) But the computer was unharmed, and I show it playing some Amiga MOD music files, using Galaxy Music Player (GLX). Claimed to be the "world's fastest MOD player", GLX can play 4-channel MODs at 22 kHz and 8-channel MODs at 16 kHz on this 8 MHz NEC V30 XT-class computer.

ORIGINAL INFO: Remember when these comics were about computers?
RUMINATIONS: This is probably my favorite of all the Tandy Computer Whiz Kids reviews I’ve done. It’s got a perfect combination of terrible shilling of products (when the comics can be BOTHERED to shill out products), bizarre and out of place PSA, and just enough nonsense and stupidity to make it rife with potential for humor. The “combine harvester” freakout is something I hadn’t done in quite a while and decided to bring it back for this episode. It’s the kind of thing you REALLY want to save for something completely nonsensical and stupid and fortunately I had some new material available to me to use, in this case the ballpit balls I had purchased for a Dalek cosplay I never made as well as a few other items for great gags.
The “Christmas opening” may seem odd for the youtube crowd since this is being released there in December, but of course this was originally a July episode. Really it was just a subtle way of continuing the “Ghost of the Machine” arc by having Nimue screw up something seemingly simple like a celebration title card.

Eldred Gregory Peck (April 5, 1916 – June 12, 2003) was an American actor.
One of the world's most popular film stars from the 1940s to the 1960s, Peck continued to play important roles well into the 1980s. His notable performances include that of Atticus Finch in the 1962 film To Kill a Mockingbird, for which he won an Academy Award. President Lyndon Johnson honored Peck with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1969 for his lifetime humanitarian efforts. In 1999, the American Film Institute named Peck among the Greatest Male Stars of All Time, ranking at #12. He was named to the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame in 1983.
Eldred Gregory Peck was born in La Jolla, California, the son of Missouri-born Bernice Mae "Bunny" (née Ayres) and Gregory Pearl Peck, who was a chemist and pharmacist. Peck's father was of Irish (maternal) heritage and English (paternal) heritage, and his mother was of Scots (paternal) and English (maternal) ancestry. Peck's father was a Catholic and his mother converted upon marrying his father. Peck's Irish-born paternal grandmother, Catherine Ashe, was related to Thomas Ashe, who took part in the Easter Rising fewer than three weeks after Peck's birth and died while on hunger strike in 1917. Peck's parents divorced by the time he was six years old and he spent the next few years being raised by his maternal grandmother.

Tandy 1000SL smokes an EGA monitor & plays MOD files
I upgraded my Tandy 1000SL computer with an EGA card and Sound Blaster Pro, but unfortunately my Tandy EGA monitor didn't last long before it went up in smoke. (It was probably the line suppresion capacitor that failed.) But the computer was unharmed, and I show it playing some Amiga MOD music files, using Galaxy Music Player (GLX). Claimed to be the "world's fastest MOD player", GLX can play 4-channel MODs at 22 kHz and 8-channel MODs at 16 kHz on this 8 MHz NEC V30 XT-class computer. -

ORIGINAL INFO: Remember when these comics were about computers?
RUMINATIONS: This is probably my favorite of all the Tandy Computer Whiz Kids reviews I’ve done. It’s got a perfect combination of terrible shilling of products (when the comics can be BOTHERED to shill out products), bizarre and out of place PSA, and just enough nonsense and stupidity to make it rife with potential for humor. The “combine harvester” freakout is something I hadn’t done in quite a while and decided to bring it back for this episode. It’s the kind of thing you REALLY want to save for something completely nonsensical and stupid and fortunately I had some new material available to me to use, in this case the ballpit balls I had purchased for a Dalek cosplay I never made as well as a few other items for great gags.
The “Christmas opening” may seem odd for the youtube crowd since this is being released there in December, but of course this was originally a July episode. Really it was just a subtle way of continuing the “Ghost of the Machine” arc by having Nimue screw up something seemingly simple like a celebration title card.

ORIGINAL INFO: No riddles are made or answered, and yet there are still plenty of questions.
RUMINATIONS: By this point, the Tandy Computer Whiz Kids had become an annual event, if only to prolong their life with the few that remain. I should be done with them by 2018 or so.
As for the storyline, it was time to start wrapping things up in time for Halloween. This required bringing everyone together for an assault on Holokara to drain his energy, showing Linksano in a lightly more heroic role than usual. Linkara’s return at the end was a not-so-subtle reference to Giles from the end of Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s season 6 finale. It’s a great moment and it’s okay to reference stuff like that, IMHO, as long as you can hit the same kind of emotional chords. Sure, Linkara had been seen two weeks earlier, but I think people expected his return to not happen until the Halloween storyline to play up the horror of Linkara vs. the hologram.
No, the real thing that nobody noticed was the fact that both of my magic gun props were sitting on the shelf behind Holokara. Whoops. Still, the fact that nobody commented on it means that they weren’t paying attention to the background, which is a good thing. To paraphrase an anecdote once said by Wil Wheaton: “If people are paying more attention to the background than the actors on screen, you’re doing something wrong.”
