Qui mouille nos peaux ;
Toujours en ribotes
Ayant peu de bottes
Et point de chapeaux.
Nous avons l'ivresse,
L'amour, la jeunesse,
L'éclair dans les yeux,
Des poings effroyables ;
Nous sommes des diables,
Nous sommes des dieux !
Nos deux seigneuries
Vont aux Tuileries
Flâner volontiers,
Et dire des choses
Aux servantes roses
Sous les marronniers.
Sous les ombres vertes
Des rampes désertes
Nous errons le soir,
L'eau fuit, les toits fument,
Les lustres s'allument,
Dans le château noir.
Notre âme recueille
Ce que dit la feuille
À la fin du jour,
L'air que chante un gnome.
Et, place Vendôme,
Le bruit du tambour.
Les blanches statues
Assez peu vêtues,
Découvrent leur sein,
Et nous font des signes
Dont rêvent les cygnes
Sur le grand bassin.
Ô Rome ! ô la Ville !
Annibal, tranquille,
Sur nous, écoliers,
Fixant ses yeux vagues,
Nous montre les bagues
De ses chevaliers.
La terrasse est brune.
Pendant que la lune
L'emplit de clarté,
D'ombres et de mensonges,
Nous faisons des songes
Pour la liberté.

50 Things to do in Paris, France | Top Attractions Travel Guide Travel Video Transcript:
Hello, and welcome to Paris. This week we are exploring the city of love, city of lights and city of art. This video will be showing you the top 50 things to do while you visit Paris.
So we're wrapping things up here. What would be your one tip for visiting Paris? Well, I have recently spent a whole ten days here in summer. I would say that if you really want to visit the art galleries, the museums and all of the main attractions you should probably avoid summer and like either come in the spring or the fall or even winter. Because the lines are insane and sometimes you have to wait like an hour and a half or two hours just to go inside a museum or go inside a church. And you just kill a lot of time. So that is my one tip. Try and avoid summer when the crowds are just everywhere and it is also a bit too hot in my opinion. But that is just me.
So how about you? What are your final thoughts on Paris? So my finals thoughts is obviously Paris is one of the top cities in the world in terms of attractions. But it is like any other big gritty city. And you have to come with realistic expectations. There is going to be garbage, there is going to be lines, there is going to be some areas that are a bit of an eyesore. But there is also a lot of beauty and there is also a lot to do here. So I highly you recommend coming but just don't have Paris on such a high pedestal that you're going to be disappointed.
And that concludes our guide of the top 50 things to do and see in Paris. We hope you enjoyed watching, and let us know if there are other places you would add to this list.
This is part of our Travel in France series. We're making a series of videos showcasing French culture, French arts, French foods, French religion, French cuisine and French people.

Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. First established by the Celts, next used strategically by the Romans, then it served the extravagant lifestyle of the Sun King, Louis XIV until it became a hotbed of Revolution.
Champs-Élysée is surely one of the most beautiful avenues in the world. It has wide boulevards, shady corners, ambient street cafes and classic Parisian buildings that are decorated with flowers.
Since 1873, the Palais de l'Élysée has been the residence of the French President. At the beginning of the 17th century, Madame de Pompadour lived there and during the Revolution the liberated people cavorted in its luxurious rooms.
Through a small triumphal arch decorated with scenes of Napoleon's victorious army, there is the garden created by Leotre, the Jardin des Tuileries. A bridge and fountain are the focal points of this popular park, created in typical French style.
A modern glass pyramid and a fountain decorate the courtyard of the former Louvre Palace, which since the time of the Revolution has been transformed into a museum that contains the famous Louvre art gallery. Its collection of remarkable historic treasures and superb art collection make it one of the world's most famous museums with Leonardo Da Vinci´s masterpiece, the Mona Lisa, taking pride of place.
Situated on a small island on the River Seine is the Cathedral of Notre Dame, the 'Mother Church of the Nation'. Built on the foundations of a Roman temple and commissioned by the bishops Maurice and Eudes de Sully, it took almost 200 years to build this Gothic masterpiece.
Built at the end of the 19th century as a symbol of national revival, Montmartre's Sacre Coeur has the appearance of a white, fairy-tale palace with 237 steps that lead up to the main entrance of this extraordinary structure. Its Byzantine architecture and five cupolas are reminiscent of the Marcus Dome in Venice.
Of course, there are the dizzy heights of the Eiffel Tower and a great deal more. Paris is a wonderful festival of the senses!

The Tuileries Gardens are the oldest and largest gardens in Paris.
As you enjoy a drink or lunch in one of four bars and restaurants in the gardens, you can see a large number of works of art such as the Tree of Vowels by Giuseppe Penone, Reclining Figure by Henry Moore
Nymph by Louis Auguste Lévêque or Mercury riding Pegasus by Antoine Coysevox.
Situated between the Place de la Concorde, the Louvre and Rue de Rivoli, you can enjoy a walk or sit by the Octagonal Pond on one of the gardens’ 3000 chairs.
The children can have their moment of fun, too, playing with the sailing boats available for hire or, during the summer, taking a ride on a carousel at the funfair set up in the gardens.
There’s a lot of history attached to the Tuileries: The gardens owe their name to the tile kilns built by François 1st in 1519.
A few years later, Catherine de Médicis fell in love with the place and had the Tuileries Palace built, where great receptions were held.
Later on, Henri IV experimented with silkworm farming, growing white mulberry trees to launch silk production in France.
In 1664, on Louis XIV’s orders, André Le Nôtre redesigned the Gardens, which were extended with the idea of possibly creating the Champs-Elysées.
This was the birth of the Tuileries as we know them today; they became the leading public gardens in Paris at the time.
The Palace was abandoned in 1789 and became the theatre for a number of revolutionary scenes.
Several monuments were built, dedicated to certain great men, such as the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, built in 1806 as a tribute to Napoleon Bonaparte and his Great Army.
The Tuileries Gardens acted as a lung for the capital, which was redesigned partly as a result of the Gardens.
During the changes in regime, the composition of the Gardens gradually changed and works were carried out in the early 90s, in keeping with the style of André Le Nôtre.
To the east of the Gardens you can see the Orangery, which was originally used to house Claude Monet’s Water Lilies.
To the west is the Jeu de Paume gallery and the Terrasse des Feuillants.
The Tuileries Gardens attracts over 14 million visitors every year.

And we continue with our latest travel vlog! This time, we went to Paris, France, and we spent 4 days walking around the French capital. On this sixth video, after walking by the river Seine and the Louvre Museum, the Jardin du Carrousel (Jardin des Tuileries) until we get to the Napoleon's Arc de Triomphe, we wake up to go to the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle, the Jardin des Plantes and the Luxembourg Palace and garden & Paroisse Saint-Sulpice.
Paris is the capital and largest city in France, situated on the river Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Île-de-France region (or Paris Region, French: Région parisienne). The city of Paris, within its administrative limits largely unchanged since 1860, has an estimated population of 2,211,297 (January 2008), but the Paris metropolitan area has a population of 11,899,544 (January 2008), and is one of the most populated metropolitan areas in Europe. Paris was the largest city in the Western world for about 1,000 years, prior to the 19th century, and the largest in the entire world between the 16th and 19th centuries.
Paris is today one of the world's leading business and cultural centres, and its influences in politics, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the world's major global cities. In 2009 and 2010 Paris was ranked among the three most important and influential cities in the world, among the first three "European cities of the future" -- according to research published by the Financial Times and among the top ten most liveable cities in the world according to the British review Monocle. Paris also ranked among the ten greenest European cities in 2010. Paris hosts the headquarters of many international organizations such as UNESCO, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the informal Paris Club.
The Musée du Louvre, in English, the Louvre Museum or simply the Louvre -- is one of the world's largest museums, the most visited art museum in the world and a historic monument. A central landmark of Paris, it is located on the Right Bank of the Seine. Nearly 35,000 objects from prehistory to the 19th century are exhibited over an area of 60,600 square metres (652,300 square feet). The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace (Palais du Louvre) which began as a fortress built in the late 12th century under Philip II. Remnants of the fortress are visible in the basement of the museum. The building was extended many times to form the present Louvre Palace.
Notre Dame de Paris (French for Our Lady of Paris), also known as Notre Dame Cathedral, is a Gothic, Catholic cathedral on the eastern half of the Île de la Cité in the fourth arrondissement of Paris, France. It is the cathedral of the Catholic Archdiocese of Paris: that is, it is the church that contains the cathedra (official chair) of the Archbishop of Paris, currently André Vingt-Trois. The cathedral treasury houses a reliquary with the purported Crown of Thorns.
Notre Dame de Paris is widely considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture in France and in Europe, and the naturalism of its sculptures and stained glass are in contrast with earlier Romanesque architecture. The first period of construction from 1163 into 1240s coincided with the musical experiments of the Notre Dame school. The cathedral suffered desecration during the radical phase of the French Revolution in the 1790s, when much of its religious imagery was damaged or destroyed. An extensive restoration supervised by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc removed remaining decoration, returning the cathedral to an 'original' gothic state.
The Arc de Triomphe (Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile) is one of the most famous monuments in Paris. It stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle (originally named Place de l'Étoile), at the western end of the Champs-Élysées.[3] There is a smaller arch, the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, which stands west of the Louvre. The Arc de Triomphe (in English: "Triumphal Arch") honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I.
The Luxemburg Palace is a beautiful building situated in even more beautiful gardens in the centre of Paris, on the left bank of Seine, near Sorbonne University. Throughout it existence its purpose has been changed many times. It has been the centre of French Directory during the Revolution; as well as the first residence of Napoleon Bonaparte when he was First Consul in France. During the World War II the building served as the headquarters of Luftwaffe in France. In 1946 the Palace was used for the Paris Peace Conference. Currently it houses the French Senate.
