About

The Ontario Coalition for Accountability (OntarioCfA)

represents the interests of over 2,539 Ontario residents annually, who have nowhere else to turn when systemic issues arise with Ontario’s “MUSH” sector. The “MUSH” sector is comprised of Municipalities, Universities, School boards, Hospitals, nursing homes and long-term care facilities, police, and children’s aid societies.

“Ontario has fallen behind in oversight of non-governmental organizations providing critical public services referred to as the MUSH” – Ontario Ombudsman

Vision:

The OntarioCfA vision is very clear, we want to bring accountability and transparency to Ontario’s Municipalities, Universities, School boards, Hospitals, nursing homes and long-term care facilities, police, and children’s aid societies. To achieve this vision, we’re working to develop solutions, policy options, and lobby government to implement them.

Mission:

It is the mission of the OntarioCfA to:

  • Expand the Ombudsman of Ontario’s authority with respect to this sector that is the most limited in Canada;
  • We are helping in the fight to modernize the authority to oversee the delivery of these public services;
  • Archive news articles and conduct research, relating to accountability and the MUSH Sector in Ontario;
  • Lobby the Ontario Government to affect the “MUSH” policies;
  • Organize campaigns and rallies for public accountability;
  • Build partnerships with other organizations to accomplish our vision; and
  • Try to remain as non-partisan as possible, while supporting specific legislation and Private Members Bills from each of the Provincial Parties to improve public accountability.
