10 years of Crazy Baldhead Sound System

i missed this announcement. but thought it was worth posting even late. It comes from New York City antifascists and skinheads who DJ soul, reggae, rocksteady, ska and rock n roll. Demonstrates the ongoing culture building that is essential for an antifascist movement.

In honor of the TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY of our weekly skinhead reggae, ska and soul DJ night here in NYC (first Heavy Manners Mondays, then Move Your Mule Fridays).

This party should go til the sun comes up!

Tons of DJs will be coming thru the spot, and we will be spinning on two floors.

This has been a very good Summer for RASH-NYC, as well as the traditional ska/ rocksteady/ reggae scene here in NYC. Several new bands (The Hard Times, The Forthrights, Jammyland All-Stars... ). The old stalwarts like The Slackers, The Blue Beats and King Django are still at it. Too many shows and parties to mention (2 days of Lee Perry, including a free show!) And it's nice to see new blood hanging around, all the kids in their early to mid-20's.

RIP Fyodor "Fediay" Filatov. Another Russian Antifascist murdered.

In the morning of October 10th 2008 Fyodor Filatov died in hospital from numerous knife wounds. At 7:30 AM he was attacked by four unknown persons armed with knifes, while leaving his home on his way to work. There are no doubts that the attack was well-planned. Russian Neo-Nazi scum always saw Fyodor as one of their arch enemies. His photos were published on a lot of Neo-Nazi websites along with death threats.

Fyodor Filatov was one of the founders and most active members of Moscow Troyan Skinheads – a community of Antiracist and Antifascist skinheads from Moscow and Moscow region. Nobody does as much as him for the development of Russian Antifascist skinhead movement.

He was only 27 years old.

He died for his beliefs.

We must never forget.
