Ekò (Lagos State): An Homage To Africa's Soi-disant City of Excellence
— by KUKU
KUKU shares a live studio session of one of a few ballads from his upcoming new LP. This one echoes "Ekò", Lagos, the famed Nigerian metropolitan city that groomed him. Blending his native Yoruba tongue with a grandiose English chorus, KUKU invites the world to a incomparable Lagos experience. This is a must-hear for every inhabitant of the Africa's "Center of Excellence." Thousands of miles away, the video was shot at the VAGH & WEINMANN studios in Paris France by Portuguese videographer and filmmaker, Victor Delfim.
In a perfect world this would be the official Lagos tourism anthem, then again, perfection and Lagos don't often correlate. Nevertheless, this is possibly the least expensive trip you can get to Lagos, so get on board and you don't even have to pack a luggage. All you need are your ears, your eyes, and most importantly your heart to receive the gospel of Ekò, Lagos City as sermoned by KUKU.

The New Afrika Shrine was first started in the early 1970s by Fela Anikulapo-Kuti but was burnt down. The new replacement is now run by his son Femi and daughter Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti. Aside the live music, the shrine also provides other services. You can eat here, take out, outdoor catering and delivery. It is a cool spot for groups and friends to chill out.
The New Afrika Shrine is situated in Ikeja, Lagos. It's a huge shed, but the music blows the roof off. They give their client a nice treat as they wait your tables and welcome you at the gate.

The Lagos State government has attributed the containment of the Ebola Virus Disease to the 'fear factor' and the preparedness of the State in tackling unforeseen epidemic circumstances.
On Channels Television's programme, Sunrise Daily, on Saturday, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris and the Permanent Secretary with the State's Health Ministry, Dr Olukayode Oguntimehin, explained how the state was able to address the Ebola Virus Disease that has claimed more than 4,500 lives since outbreak began in March.
They said that the fear that Ebola had no cure and that it killed infected persons within 21 days of infection led to the success recorded in tracing all passengers in the airline that brought the Liberian-American man, Patrick Sawyer, the index case, to Nigeria.
Dr Idris said that the airline and the contacts cooperated with the health ministry because of the fear of the spread of the disease if not contained immediately.
On the area of preparedness, there had got the public talking, with many giving thanks to God that the first case of the Ebola disease was in Lagos. They believe that other states are not as prepared as Lagos to handle such circumstance.
Dr Idris also confirmed these insinuations, saying that the preparedness of the state was a factor that contributed to the containment of the Ebola Virus.

Puebla Travel Video Guide, Travel Mexico 2015
Puebla City Centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site and it is one of Mexico's best-preserved Spanish Colonial treasures. It contains some 2,600 designated historic buildings. As Mexican cities go, this is a very pedestrian-friendly city and easy to explore on foot. If you'd rather not walk, a red double-decker Turibus runs narrated tours departing every half hour. You'll find both a bus stop and a tourist information booth in the zócalo.
Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception: built from 1575 -- 1640, its towers (at 73.9 m; 244 f) are considered the highest in the country and even Latin America. It is noted for its marble floors, rich gold leaf interior, and awesome main altar -- designed by Manuel Tolsa and depicting the kings and queens of 17th century Europe.
Palacio Municipal (Town Hall): Built on the original Spanish authority seat of government, the current Palacio dates from the beginning of the 2oth century, with a strong neoclassical architecture of the period of Dictator Porfirio Diaz. The style was also inspired by French architecture, which was fashionable at that time. In the interior houses a courtyard with a beautiful marble staircase.
Church of Santo Domingo: Considered by some to be Mexico's most exuberantly decorated temple, Santo Domingo dates from 1650. Its Capilla del Rosario is a dazzling mix of painted tiles, gold leaf, and sculpture. The Chapel dates from the second half of the 17th century and constitutes one of the greatest achievements of baroque art in the Americas. The chapel is laminated with 22k gold over stucco. A true wonder to behold.
Biblioteca Palafoxiana: Don't miss a visit to the New World's first public library! This site dates to the 17th century and once housed the hemisphere's finest collection of manuscripts. Today there are over 43,000 books in its inventory, including rare works from the 15th century. The site is located on the upper level of the Casa de la Cultura, next to the Cathedral.
Some other masterpieces of colonial architecture you can admire in Puebla Centre are the Ex-Convent of Santa Rosa, home to Puebla's excellent Museo de Artesanias; the Secret Convent of Santa Monica, built in the 17th century; the Museo Universitario - Casa De Los Muñecos, one of the most peculiar examples of civil baroque style in New Spain; the Iglesia de San Francisco, located in the oldest part of the city, and Museo Casa de Alfeñique, that owes its name to the abundant and fine ornamentation of white "argamasa" which looks like the famous sugar candies made in Puebla called "alfeñiques".

olumo rock by oluwole aboyade
Today on efyx lifestyle we are taking you on a trip to the famous olumo rock in abeokuta, gun state nigeria. Abeokuta is just about an hours drive from the bustling metropolitan city of Lagos. Olumo rock, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nigeria, West Africa, sits in the ancient city center of Abeokuta. Olumo rock was turned into a tourist site in 1976 and thus commission in February 3rd 2006 by chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the height of the rock is 137meters above sea level and at this point the whole Abeokuta could be seen e.g the first Church in Nigeria, N.T.A Abeokuta, Baptist Boys High School, The family house of late Abiola, the Central Mosque, Sanatan, River Ogun etc.Egba is the name of the local people of Abeokuta who once live under the Oyo Empire. A name which means “Under the rock”. Abeokuta was originally inhabited by the egba people who found refuge at the Olumo rock during inter-tribal wars in the 19th century. The rock provided sanctuary to the people as well as a vantage point to monitor the enemy’s advance leading to eventual triumph in war. The town of Abeokuta eventually grew as these new settlers spread out from this location. Tourists to Africa definitely need to consider putting Olumo rock on their travel plans. It is often helpful to enlist the services of a guide who possess vast knowledge of the history of the rock and the culture of the people. This makes for an interesting climb as every twist and turn will reveal a significant story making the trip a truly memorable one.A trip to Olumo rock usually commences with a climb up the man-made stairs carved into the rock. While this sounds easy enough, it leaves many breathless and ready to take a break to rest on the benches under the trees growing from the rock and enjoy some clean breeze. The journey continues with climbs on irregularly sized rocks (or ladders which are now thankfully provided) through a narrow corridor that leads to the top of the rock. All along the way, the Olumo rock,is home to several caves and shrines. catch sights of carvings in the rock, cowrie-studded statues and the ancient abode of the priestesses who live in huts on the rock. And yes, it is not uncommon to catch a sight of the very aged women who live there and mutter greetings or blessings as people make their way through.
