STORYLINE
Hundreds of participants from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities marched through central Delhi on Sunday to celebrate India's annual Gay Pride march.
Participants came out on the streets wearing masks, holding placards and dancing to drumbeats in a huge street party.
Participants also demanded an end to discrimination and violence against the gay community.
"This is about celebrating peoples' right to be open, to be who they are, to live freely and without fear of prejudice and discrimination and that's the spirit of pride everywhere," said Nancy Nicol, a Canadian tourist taking part in the parade.
In spite of a Delhi High Court ruling in 2009 that struck down section 377 of the Indian Penal Code that made sex between people of the same gender punishable by up to 10 years in prison, harassment of the gay community continues.
That ruling has since been challenged in the Supreme Court of India which is yet to give its decision on the matter.
The gay community in India face a long battle to gain acceptance, social and legal, in a deeply conservative country where even heterosexual sex is talked about in hushed tones.
However, homosexuality is slowly gaining acceptance in some parts of India, especially in its big cities.
Many bars have gay nights, and some high-profile Bollywood films have dealt with gay issues.
This was the fourth gay pride parade in Delhi. Such parades have taken place in other Indian cities too.

Reliance Power enters the resident corridors of Indian Capital Markets - Mumbai
Shares in India's Reliance Power sank as much as 21 percent in a chaotic debut on Monday as valuation concerns and global market turmoil dented investor demand following its $3 billion IPO, the country's largest.
The poor start for a share that had initially been expected to double was a further setback for India's record pipeline of IPOs this year. Two offerings, including a $1.6 billion one from Emaar MGF Land, were shelved last week after a tepid response triggered by the global credit crunch and U.S. recession worries.
Reliance Power, controlled by billionaire Anil Ambani, sold out within a minute last month when it opened its record IPO to finance the building of power plants across India.
The offer for around a tenth of the company was priced at 450 rupees ($11.4) a share, the top of range, and the $3 billion raised made it the world's biggest offering so far in 2008, according to Thomson Financial.
Analysts first expected Reliance to touch 900 rupees when it began trading, but stock market turmoil lowered investor risk appetite and analysts subsequently said a start of 75-150 rupees above the IPO price was more realistic.
But after rising briefly to 599.90 rupees, the shares dropped to a low of 355.05 rupees and closed down 17.2 percent at 372.50 rupees. The benchmark index ended nearly 5 percent lower.
Reliance Power was the top traded stock on the Bombay exchange with nearly 64 million shares changing hands.
Shares in Reliance Energy, which holds 45 percent of Reliance Power, fell as much as 22 percent and ended 19.4 percent lower at 1,582.30 rupees.
Chairman Anil Ambani rang the bell at the Bombay Stock Exchange for the start of trade on Monday, saying: "I'm confident our long-term investors will reap rich rewards by investing in the company."
The issue, managed by Kotak Mahindra Capital Co, UBS, ABN AMRO, Deutsche Equities, Enam Securities, ICICI Securities, JM Financial and JPMorgan, had been helped by the Ambani family name.
There are no forecasts for the company as it does not have any operational assets, but plans to set up about 28,000 megawatts of power projects.
The utility saw its IPO subscribed 73 times, even though analysts said it was unlikely to report strong profits for five years. The 450 rupee offer price valued it at $30 billion.
But since the offer closed, market conditions have deteriorated and the benchmark index has lost about 22 percent from an all-time high of 21,206.77 hit on Jan. 10.
Analysts said Reliance Power had been overpriced relative to India's top power producer NTPC Ltd, which is valued at more than $42 billion and trades at more than 21 times forward earnings.
"In this kind of a market you are better off investing in companies based on their earnings potential than in those whose valuations depend on their future stock movements," said Nilesh Jasani, head of research at Credit Suisse.
Warning signs came last week when Wockhardt Hospitals Ltd and then Emaar MGF, the Indian joint venture of Dubai's Emaar Properties, pulled their IPOs due to poor response and worries the shares would fall on their debuts.
Until then, India had a record IPO pipeline of $15.8 billion for 2008, according to Thomson Financial. Government-run State Bank of India plans a $4.2 billion rights issue soon.
But Reliance Power's reception may make companies think twice.
Reliance Communications, another Anil Ambani firm, is planning an IPO for its telecom towers unit, Reliance Infratel Ltd, which media reports and bankers say aims to raise $1-1.5 billion.
Founded by Dhirubhai Ambani, the Reliance group of companies were divided between the late Ambani's sons in 2005: Anil, who has interests in telecoms, financials, media and power; and elder brother Mukesh, who controls India's top listed firm, oil and petrochemicals giant Reliance Industries Ltd.

wn.com/Reliance Power Enters The Resident Corridors Of Indian Capital Markets Mumbai

But to feel a part of a larger set of people, who were like anybody else. But I think it's just being able to meet and connect with each other. I think that's been hugely important."

ANNUAL GAY PRIDE PARADE HELD IN THE INDIAN CAPITAL
Hundreds of people danced, sang and marched their way through central Delhi on Sunday as part of the third Gay Pride parade to take place in the city.
People belonging to the gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual communities wore masks and colorful scarves and carried flags and signs demanding improved rights for their communities.
Social attitudes and even laws are beginning to change for gay people in India.
In 2009 the Delhi High Court struck down a law, Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, that made sex between people of the same gender punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
The ruling has been challenged in the Supreme Court which is yet to give its verdict.
While actual criminal prosecutions were rare under the law, it was frequently used to threaten and harass people.
People in India who identify as gay, lesbian, transgender or bisexual have faced a long battle to gain acceptance in this deeply conservative country where even heterosexual sex is not often spoken about.
Taking part in the parade was photographer Sunil Gupta who said he felt the parade was more a party than a protest.
"It's a celebration of the fact that the community is here, and it's not a kind of complaining parade. I guess underneath it there is a kind of quiet demand for rights in various areas but today is really just about a celebration. We have survived, we are here and there's work to be done, we recognize that, but we should also be able to party," he said.
The Supreme Court ruling will be the final word on the issue and will be applicable all over India.
Activist Pramada Menon says taking part in the parade gives people a sense of community and identity.
Homosexuality is slowly gaining acceptance in some parts of India, especially in its big cities. The last two years have seen large gay pride parades in New Delhi and other big cities like Mumbai and Calcutta.

21 Things To Do In Delhi, India (नई दिल्ली)
For many more things to do in Delhi, where to stay, and delicious food to eat, check out my Delhi Travel Guide: http://migrationology.com/delhi-travel-guide-ebook/ (click the link)!
Delhi, India, (नई दिल्ली) is the national capital of the country and has a metropolitan population of around 22 million residents. The city is ancient, it's been around since the 6th century BC so there are many historical and cultural places to visit. That's specifically why I created this list of 21 things to do in Delhi, to help you plan and get excited about visiting Delhi, India.
1. The Lotus Temple (Bahá'í House of Worship) - The temple is in the shape of a giant lotus and on the inside is a peaceful sanctuary where you can enter and sit in silence for as long as you like.
2. ISKCON Hare Krishna Temple - I had never seen a temple like this before, so it as an interesting experience to hear the music and walk around the interior of the temple.
3. Kalkaji Mandir Hindu Temple - This temple is a very important Hindu temple in Delhi and while I was there, there were a number of babies being dedicated by being decorated and blessed.
4. Jama Masjid - Located in Old Delhi, Jama Masjid is the largest mosque in all of Delhi. Though they will attempt to get money from you, it's free to enter the mosque, but if you want to take photos inside they will charge you 300 rupees.
5. Akshardham Temple - This modern Hindu temple located on the outskirts of Delhi literally made my jaw drop, it's that amazing. It's free to enter, but unfortunately, they don't allow any photography inside. This is one of the things to do in Delhi that you cannot afford to miss!
6. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib (Sikh Temple) - Unlike some other sites in Delhi where you'll find many touts and hustlers, the Gurdwara Sikh Temple is about the nicest and most friendly place you can go in Delhi. People are extremely nice and you can enter the temple to listen to music.
7. Laxmi Narayan Mandir -- Dedicated by Mahatma Gandhi, this is one of the most significant Hindu temples in Delhi.
8. Hauz Khas Complex - I'm always amazed at the history of Delhi and Hauz Khas is an excellent example of ancient monuments in the middle of a public park.
9. Lodi Gardens - As a free entrance public park, visiting the Lodi Gardens is one of the most amazing things to do in Delhi. It's just like an ordinary park, but it's filled with thousand year old tombs and monuments that are truly inspirational.
10. India Gate - The war memorial is one of the landmarks of Delhi and resembles the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
11. Jantar Mantar - The Jantar Mantar complex is a compound that houses 13 different astronomy instruments. The structures are confusing to look at, but if you read or follow a guide (or audio guide) you'll understand how each instrument functioned.
12. Qutub Minar - Just like Akshardham Temple, Qutub Minar is one of the top things to do in Delhi, it's truly remarkable. The minaret is the main attraction, a huge pillar of red carved sandstone that towers above the ancient ruins in the complex.
13. Humayun's Tomb - One of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Delhi is Humayun's Tomb, built in Mughal Islamic architecture.
14. Tomb of Safdarjung - Very similar to Humayun's tomb is the tomb of Safdarjung. What I really liked is that there were no other tourists the day I went so it was quite and peaceful.
15. Red Fort - Located near Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi is the Red Fort. It's an entire walled in city where you can walk around the browse the many buildings within the walls.
16. Raj Ghat - The Raj Ghat is a memorial park dedicated to Gandhi.
17. Chandni Chowk & Chawri Bazar - The liveliest and busiest area of Delhi is Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazar. I think it's possible to purchase anything from the entire world in this area, and you'll also find lots of delicious food.
18. Dilli Haat - This handicraft village was set up by the Delhi tourism authority and it's a decent place to purchase souvenirs or high quality crafts. You'll also find a food court that contains canteens serving food from all over India.
19. Connaught Place (Rajiv Chowk) - Known for short as just CP is a huge series of roundabouts and is the central modern business district of Delhi. Within the area you'll find all sorts of shops, famous restaurants and the Palika Bazar, an underground shopping center.
20. Paharganj (Main Bazar) - The main bazar is located just west of the New Delhi railroad station and it's an old area of town where you'll find a market and lots of budget accommodation options.
21. Delhi Street Food - Eating street food is one of the best things to do in Delhi, you'll love it.

Traveling Tips for India (New Delhi, India Travel Video)
With some great travel tips, Udayan helps you navigate through the exciting and overwhelming India.
What are some practical and useful tips you should know when traveling to New Delhi, India or another city in India?
Despite India developing rapidly, it still does not have most of the infrastructure and amenities that are so common in the western world. Following a few handy travel tips might make travel for you a whole lot easier while you are in India.
First, if you are taking a taxi from the airport, make sure it is a registered taxi. The best option is to take a prepaid taxi. If that is not available, you should fix the price or make sure that the meter is working. Do not wait till reaching your destination for deciding on the price even if your driver insists on doing so. This applies not only the transportation from the airport but any transportation in gerneral.
If you are traveling within India there are quite a few transportation options available. In India transportation ranges from the pragmatic to the imaginative. Within Delhi the metros the best way to travel. So if you are going somewhere, check if there is a metro route that can get you there. For short distances autos are generally a good bet. Unless the meter is not working. In which case you should find out what the correct rate is from the hotel you are staying at or from the person you are staying with.
If you plan to be sight seeing throughout the day, it is probably a good idea to get an air conditioned cab like this one. Especially so if it is summer. These cabs are generally cheap but check on the prices with your hotel or with the person you are staying with. Just incase. You might want to rent your own car to drive around here. But if you are not used to the streets in Delhi, it is not a recommended option. Always try and get bottled water instead of tap water in this country. Bottled water is widely available. But when you are buying it make sure that the top is sealed.
India has some great street food. But travelers should avoid eating it. If you are really keen, there is some upscale resturants that serve traditional fast food, that is actually hygenic. India has the finest hotels in the whole world. You will find attention and service here of levels far receding often those, even in the West. People here, from the concierge to the bell boy, will be more than willing to help you, even with your smallest bits of luggage. However, there is a slight catch. They all want to be tipped. Fortunately ten or tweenty rupee notes will do the trick, sometimes.
This here is a tweenty rupee note. This is a ten rupee note. This is hundred and this is five hundred. It is always a good idea to have as many as possible of these, that is a ten rupee ad a tweenty rupee note, for tipping and for just about everything else. When you ask somebody for dirrections it is always a good idea to ask somebody else, just to confirm. It is not that somebody wants to give you wrong dirrections or wants to ruin your day, it is just that sometimes people want to be way too helpful.
Most upscale and midscale hotels in the country provide you with basic accessories, like tissue paper and toilet paper. However, if you are putting up in one of those cheaper or small town accomodations you might not want to take these things for granted. All these essentials are available widely across the country. In general stores like the one behind my back. In India, getting your laundry done is not a hastle at all. Laundry takes a day. And the shirts can be ironed within the space of a few minutes. You need not worry about your laundry because it will not take more than a dollar. Getting your shirts wrinkled up is not too much of a hastle.
Always bargin in the market place. Unless you are in a fixed price shop. It is not a good idea to give beggers around the place money. Even if you are tempted too. It just incourages the wrong sort of placement. And anyways the money always goes to someone else and not exactly the person you paid the money. Avoid going to quiet and lonely areas if you are a woman. Dressing conservative is probably the best option. Medical help here is cheaper than any place else and widely available, at least in the cities. However, get a medical refference, like you get anywhere else, before you go to the facility.
When you are traveling back, I will equate enough time to make sure that you get to the airport on time. Even when you travel back late at night you are likely to encounter a traffic jam. Especially when you are traveling from central Delhi to say the airport. Take about an hour at hand but buffer some time in for traffic jams. With these tips you can enjoy a more comfortable, safer and healthier stay in the country. And get around to what is the most important, enjoying the immense beauty and culture you find here. This is Udayan showing you India.

I along with my 2 friends visited Manali in summer of 2014. It was an remarkable journey which brought many sweet memories in my & my friends life.
Pick season for Manali travel & tips is - summer from June to august
During winter, it gets heavy snow fall, so mostly couple try to visit this place.

Ayurvedic Spa - See how ayurveda massage is performed in an ayurvedic resort in New Delhi, India.
Kairali Resorts, just outside Delhi, provides ayurvedic services to its customers. "Ayurveda is an Indian traditional science, it is a science where it treats the body. It does not treat the disease, it treats the body as a whole. It has two aspects in it, the wellness, that is the preventive aspect of Ayurveda, and the curative aspect."
Ayurveda is a form of an alternative medicine that has been used in parts of India for over centuries now. The emphasis is on physical, mental and spiritual harmony. I am now going to start the treatments and the first one they are going to begin with is Abhyangam, followed by the two that is bundle massage and Shirodhara.
"Simple treatment like Abhyangam which is a general body massage. It starts from top to toe massaging the body with two people synchronizingly massaging the body for a period of 45 minutes. Followed by Shirodhara. That is a popular treatment." And now I will be going for my head massage which is basically very imperative even for any treatment, be it Abhyangam, be it the Bundle massage or be it Shirodhara.
"The next of it Shirodhara, which is pouring of the oil on the forehead continuously and your body is take care of." You do not know how they work it, but it is such a beautiful sensation on your forehead, must try for everybody visiting India, especially Delhi. I am Pinky Nigam showing you Delhi.

In India Man lynched over rumours of eating beef
For More Latest News Subscribe us:
A 50-year-old man in northern India has been killed in a mob lynching allegedly over rumours that his family had been storing and consuming beef at home.
Mohammad Akhlaq was kicked and beaten with stones by a group of men in Dadri in Uttar Pradesh state on Monday night.
Mr Akhlaq's 22-year-old son was also seriously injured in the attack, and has been admitted to a hospital.
Six people have been arrested in connection with the incident. Police are probing who spread the rumour.
Slaughter of cows is a sensitive issue in India as the animal is considered sacred by Hindus, who comprise 80% of the country's 1.2bn people.
Uttar Pradesh is among a number of Indian states who have tightened laws banning cow slaughter and the sale and consumption of beef.
The beef ban has also provoked outrage with many questioning how the government decides what is on their plate.
Mr Akhlaq's family said the family had stored mutton, and not beef in their fridge. The police have taken the meat and sent it for testing, reports said.
The incident happened in a village, barely 50km (31 miles) away from the Indian capital, Delhi, where Mr Akhlaq, a farm worker, lived with his family.

The NDTV Dialogues: Political Churn in India's Capital
The Delhi elections may be dominating the news headlines but we are actually going beyond it. We are looking at the most interesting trends that are emerging from the battle of this capital city. The new order in politics, Kiran Bedi, a complete outsider from party politics, brought in by political strategist Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, the BJP party president, to be the party's chief ministerial candidate. Another departure, Arvind Kejriwal and AAP, the quintessential outsiders, how will they fare in this election? They are already being seen as the party to defeat and Ajay Maken, again he is a judicial politician but he has emerged as Rahul Gandhi's choice in selection. There are no signs of earlier stalwarts like Sheila Dikshit. What do these strengths mean really for larger political trends? That's what we will be looking at tonight.
