A street is a public thoroughfare (usually paved) in a built environment. It is a public parcel of land adjoining buildings in an urban context, on which people may freely assemble, interact, and move about. A street can be as simple as a level patch of dirt, but is more often paved with a hard, durable surface such as concrete, cobblestone or brick. Portions may also be smoothed with asphalt, embedded with rails, or otherwise prepared to accommodate non-pedestrian traffic.
Originally the word "street" simply meant a paved road (Latin: "via strata"). The word "street" is still sometimes used colloquially as a synonym for "road", for example in connection with the ancient Watling Street, but city residents and urban planners draw a crucial modern distinction: a road's main function is transportation, while streets facilitate public interaction. Examples of streets include pedestrian streets, alleys, and city-centre streets too crowded for road vehicles to pass. Conversely, highways and motorways are types of roads, but few would refer to them as streets.
Allen Street is a street in the New York City borough of Manhattan which runs north-south through the Lower Manhattan neighborhood of Chinatown and the Lower East Side. It is continued north of Houston Street as First Avenue. South of Division Street, it is known as Pike Street to its southern terminus at South Street. The northbound and southbound roadways are separated by a meridian mall, which has two bike lanes located outside the meridian mall; each bike lane is unidirectional. The street's namesake was Brigadier General William Henry Allen, the youngest person to command a Navy ship in the War of 1812. He was killed in action at the age of 28. His exploits included the capture of the British ship HMS Macedonian.
Prior to 1799, this street in lower Manhattan was laid out and named "Chester Street". After the building of the New York Orphan Asylum on this street around May 1806 "Chester Street" was renamed "Asylum Street". In 1833, "Asylum Street" was quietly renamed Third Street, and finally "Allen Street."
Pike Place Market is a public market overlooking the Elliott Bay waterfront in Seattle, Washington, United States. The Market opened August 17, 1907, and is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers' markets in the United States. It is a place of business for many small farmers, craftspeople and merchants. Named after the central street, Pike Place runs northwest from Pike Street to Virginia Street. With more than 10 million visitors annually, Pike Place Market is Seattle's most popular tourist destination and is the 33rd most visited tourist attraction in the world.
The Market is built on the edge of a steep hill, and consists of several lower levels located below the main level. Each features a variety of unique shops such as antique dealers, comic book and collectible shops, small family-owned restaurants, and one of the oldest head shops in Seattle. The upper street level contains fishmongers, fresh produce stands and craft stalls operating in the covered arcades. Local farmers and craftspeople sell year-round in the arcades from tables they rent from the Market on a daily basis, in accordance with the Market's mission and founding goal: allowing consumers to "Meet the Producer".

Excellent acapella group singing in front of Starbucks across Pike's Market in Seattle. A tourist passing by steps in and joins the singing. The led singer has an outstanding voice. I recognize the tourist as being from one of the origional doo wop groups. I don't know his name or group(s) he was in.
Seattle's Pike Place Market in the northwestern state of Washington is a product of necessity. A hundred years ago, consumers - fed up with the high price of onions - demanded a market where they could buy produce directly from farmers. They got their wish, and the market on Pike Street corner today is a historic landmark and is known as "The Soul of Seattle." It is as lively as ever, attracting more than nine million visitors each year. VOA's Wang Yiru takes us inside Pike Place Market. Elaine Lu narrates.

The finale to my birthday celebration. Following our visit to the EMP Museum we decided to head on over to the Pike Place Market for a while. It was noisy and crowded but lots of fun. We saw the famous fish throwers at the Pike Place Fish Market, the blah first ever Starbucks, some great street musicians (the sax player in the park was fantastic and should be playing onstage somewhere) and had some delicious Snoqualmie ice cream before heading back to the car to find a $44 parking ticket for parking at an unmetered space where we saw no signs telling us we had to pay to park. Beware the Seattle PD!

Ok, so, after 15 years I decided to head back to fish Keston Ponds in Biggen Hill, Bromley, Kent. Its a public park with lots of dog walkers and novice anglers. I fancied heading back there for some fun fishing because its on my door step and free fishing. Now I did hear of some nice Pike coming out among other good fish like Carp, Tench and few good Silvers and Perch. In the 2 session I have fish there I only managed to put 1 pike on the bank to blow away the summer cobwebs, but managed 10 takes and had a fair few on as you see in the VT. so I hope you enjoy and I plan to head back after some of these natural dark coloured Pike..... ***** FOLLOW ME ON ***** https://twitter.com/BarrieCullis https://www.facebook.com/PBUKAngling
Welcome to the state of decline-Do you know, what it
takes to really stand in a line? If you don't-You better
cry! Cause this is where the angels die!
You may know a thing or two-But listen to me, cause I'm
telling you: If you can't stand the heat-You'd better
stay away from the street!
In the backstreet, down in the dirt-In the backstreet,
don't look so hurt! In the backstreet, I'm gonna try
`cause I don't need no alibi!
You really think you're heaven sent-Your heart so
innocent! You don't want to dirt your shoes-Down here you
could only loose!
In the backstreet, deep in mud-In the backstreet, in real
cold blood! In the backstreet, in a scene of the crime-I
