Six Tu-22M3M long-range bombers took off from the territory of the Russian Federation and carried out concentrated Precission strike with unguided high-explosive fragmentation munitions with help of SVP-24-25 Gefest (Aerial Munition Targeting System), on objects of the ISIS terrorist grouping in the east and north-west from Palmyra near al-Sukhnah and Arak inhabited areas.
Command and control centre as well as a large field camp of insurgents located near al-Sukhnah were destroyed by the aviation strike. Control centres and concentrations of terrorists, underground storage with munitions and armament, 3 infantry combat vehicles, 12 off-roaders with large-caliber machine guns, and a lot of manpower were eliminated by the aviation strike near Palmyra and Arak.

A country of fertile plains, high mountains, and deserts, Syria is home to diverse ethnic and religious groups, including Syrian Arabs, Greeks, Armenians, Assyrians, Kurds, Circassians,Mandeans and Turks. Religious groups include Sunnis, Christians, Alawites, Druze, Mandeans, Shiites, Salafis, and Yazidis. Sunni Arabs make up the largest population group in Syria.
In English, the name "Syria" was formerly synonymous with the Levant (known in Arabic as al-Sham), while the modern state encompasses the sites of several ancient kingdoms and empires, including the Eblan civilization of the 3rd millennium BC. Its capital Damascus is among the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. In the Islamic era, Damascus was the seat of the Umayyad Caliphate and a provincial capital of the Mamluk Sultanate in Egypt.

Although the Mongols destroyed the inner buildings, the fortress walls survived. The Suq is an important part of every Islamic city, a market that originated in ancient times. Thousands of shops in numerous interconnected lanes form the commercial heart of Damascus. In the Gold Suq everything glitters, bracelets, rings and even a large variety of kitchen utensils. Damascus has for thousands of years been a place desired by the powerful. Yet it has managed to survive and is still the most beautiful capital city in the Near East.

One of the most beautiful and most visited tomb towers in The Valley Of Graves is the four storey high Tower Of Elabel that dates back to 103 A.D. It is a combination of a tomb tower and Hypoaeum. It is one of the few well-preserved monuments in the West Necropolis. Since its discovery in the 17th century the historic monuments of Palmyra shine out in renewed glory as an ancient reminder of a fascinating and mysterious epoch of desert history.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered most of the Russian forces to withdraw from Syria from April 15, but there are still four squadrons executing missions in Syria equipped with the very latest navigation and sighting systems.
Russia's Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said the Russian army hasn't reduced their strikes against extremists.
"The Russian air forces are carrying out missions at settlements in central Syria’s Arak today. Moreover, Russian warplanes headed to some regions of Deir Ezzor to carry out tasks. Russia's air forces have performed a total of 87 flying missions in the recent four days and nights,” said Konashenkov.
It is noteworthy that several fighter aircrafts have been coated with red stars. These stars actually reflect the military exploits of the pilots – with one red star representing the completion of ten flying missions.
Konashenkov pointed out that the Russian air force has achieved significant progress during their military operations.
"At present, we are all very clear that almost the whole Latakia province, most parts of Hama, Homs and Damascus and the Palmyra region have been already liberated. But at present, the Syrian government forces are fighting in Arak. More importantly, we should understand that the liberation of Palmyra is a key step towards achieving strategic goals, and has cut off the ties of terrorists in south and southeastern parts within the northern region of Syria,” said Konashenkov.
He said Russia has taken note of the current situation in Aleppo, where the al-Nusra Front is the main extremist group to break the ceasefire.
Meanwhile, Konashenkov reiterated that the implementation of the Syria ceasefire is in good process, with 52 armed groups and nearly 100 settlements signing the ceasefire agreements.

With increased fighting activity by the terrorist organization, along with other opposition Jihadist groups, in recent weeks the Russian air effort appears to have gone back into full force.
Russia’s Tu-22M3 long-range bombers hit Daesh positions outside the East Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor degrading the terror network’s capabilities. Six Russian long-range bombers hit Daesh (known colloquially as ISIS) positions outside Deir ez-Zor destroying the terror network’s command centers, ammunition depots, and numerous tanks. The terrorists suffered major casualties in the airstrike according to the Defense Ministry. "[The bombers] which took off from a Russian air base have conducted a concentrated airstrike with high-explosive munitions on IS in areas located southwest, east, and northeast of the city of Deir ez-Zor," the ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
The strike destroyed at least two of the jihadists’ command centers, six large ammunition depots, two tanks, four infantry fighting vehicles, seven SUVs with mounted machine guns, and also leveled major casualties against the terrorist enemy.
Tu-22M3 bombers were covered by Su-30SM and Su-35S fighter jets operating from the Khmeimim air base with all of the warplanes returning safely without incident according to the defense ministry.
Moscow proposed to coordinate airstrikes with the United States with some negotiations on what cooperation would look like in early July, but the two sides have not formalized an arrangement."

Video: Tu-22M3 bombers in Syria near the settlement Deir ez-Zor. "Russia has intensified its bombing campaign against the terrorists in recent weeks striking the Daesh positions in Es Sukhne and Arak near Palymra earlier this week destroying a control center, underground weapons dump, infantry vehicles, and SUVs mounted with heavy machine guns. Those strikes similarly resulted in the deaths of a large number of enemy personnel.
The ramp up in the Russian bombing campaign comes after Russia’s anti-Daesh operation in Syria was largely suspended in early March with President Vladimir Putin deciding the appropriate course at the time was to leave military assets in place to support the Syrian government forces fighting terrorist groups, but to disengage from the heat of the battle. With increased fighting activity by the terrorist organization, along with other opposition Jihadist groups, in recent weeks the Russian air effort appears to have gone back into full force.
Russia’s Tu-22M3 long-range bombers hit Daesh positions outside the East Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor degrading the terror network’s capabilities. Six Russian long-range bombers hit Daesh (known colloquially as ISIS) positions outside Deir ez-Zor destroying the terror network’s command centers, ammunition depots, and numerous tanks. The terrorists suffered major casualties in the airstrike according to the Defense Ministry. "[The bombers] which took off from a Russian air base have conducted a concentrated airstrike with high-explosive munitions on IS in areas located southwest, east, and northeast of the city of Deir ez-Zor," the ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
The strike destroyed at least two of the jihadists’ command centers, six large ammunition depots, two tanks, four infantry fighting vehicles, seven SUVs with mounted machine guns, and also leveled major casualties against the terrorist enemy.
Tu-22M3 bombers were covered by Su-30SM and Su-35S fighter jets operating from the Khmeimim air base with all of the warplanes returning safely without incident according to the defense ministry.
Moscow proposed to coordinate airstrikes with the United States with some negotiations on what cooperation would look like in early July, but the two sides have not formalized an arrangement."
