There was a lot of terrorism taking place, then security people and the army came and the law and order situation improved. Security forces have stabilised the area and skiers can once again enjoy the slopes. STORYLINE: The snow-capped mountains of the Swat Valley have earned the area the nickname as the 'Switzerland of Pakistan'. Skiing was a thriving industry in this part of the country until the Taliban took control of the Swat Valley, inflicting its own brand of brutal, unflinching rule on residents. Activities like skiing, playing cricket or even listening to music, were banned. Now, the situation has changed. Ski instructor Matiullah Khan says: Security, however, remains an issue for many tourists thinking about visiting Swat.
