Taglines: It takes leadership to confront a nation's fear. It takes friendship to conquer your own. When God couldn't save The King, The Queen turned to someone who could. When his nation needed a leader, when the people needed a voice, an ordinary man would help him find the courage. Find Your Voice. The Nation Awaits...
Quotes:
Lionel Logue: What was your earliest memory?::King George VI: I'm not... -here to discuss... -personal matters.::Lionel Logue: Why are you here then?::King George VI: Because I bloody well stammer!
Lionel Logue: Do you know any jokes?::King George VI: ...Timing isn't my strong suit.
King George VI: [Sees Logue is sitting on the coronation throne] What are you doing? Get up! You can't sit there! GET UP!::Lionel Logue: Why not? It's a chair.::King George VI: No, that. It is not a chair. T-that... that is Saint Edward's chair.::Lionel Logue: People have carved their names on it.::King George VI: [Simultaneously] That... chair... is the seat on which every king and queen has... That is the Stone of Scone you ah-are trivializing everything. You trivialize...::Lionel Logue: [Simultaneously] It's held in place by a large rock. I don't care about how many royal arseholes have sat in this chair.::King George VI: Listen to me. *Listen to me!*::Lionel Logue: Listen to you? By what right?::King George VI: By divine right if you must, I am your king.::Lionel Logue: No you're not, you told me so yourself. You didn't want it. Why should I waste my time listening?::King George VI: Because I have a right to be heard. I have a voice!::Lionel Logue: [pauses] Yes, you do.::[Longer pause]::Lionel Logue: You have such perseverance Bertie, you're the bravest man I know.
[watching a clip of Hitler speaking]::Lilibet: What's he saying?::King George VI: I don't know but... he seems to be saying it rather well.
King George VI: Every monarch in history has succeeded someone who is dead. Or just about to be. My predecessor's not only alive, but very much so. Bloody mess. Can't even give them a Christmas speech.::Lionel Logue: Like your dad used to do.::King George VI: Precisely.::Lionel Logue: He's not here anymore.::King George VI: Yes he is: he's on that shilling I gave you.::Lionel Logue: Easy enough to give away. You don't have to carry him around in your pocket. Or your brother. You don't need to be afraid of the things you were afraid of when you were five.
King George VI: ...a sieve of thisted siffles!
Stanley Baldwin: Sir, I have asked to see you today in order to tender my resignation as Prime Minister.::King George VI: I'm so sorry to hear that... Mr Baldwin.::Stanley Baldwin: Neville Chamberlain will take my place as Prime Minister. It's a matter of principle. I was mistaken. I have found it impossible to believe that there is any man in the world so lacking in moral feeling as Hitler. And that the world may be hurled for a second time into the abyss of destructive war. Churchill was right all along. This was always Hitler's intention. I'm only very sorry to leave you at this great time of crisis.::Stanley Baldwin: [pauses]::Stanley Baldwin: I'm very much afraid, sir, that your greatest test is yet to come.
Queen Elizabeth: [Using the name "Mrs. Johnson"] My husband's work involves a great deal of public speaking.::Lionel Logue: Then he should change jobs.::Queen Elizabeth: He can't.::Lionel Logue: What is he, an indentured servant?::Queen Elizabeth: Something like that.
Myrtle Logue: Will their Majesties be staying for dinner? [Logue and Bertie look panic-stricken. Elizabeth comes to the rescue]::Queen Elizabeth: We would love to, such a treat, but alas... a previous engagement. What a pity.
Lionel Logue: [as George "Berty" is lighting up a cigarette] Please don't do that.::King George VI: I'm sorry?::Lionel Logue: Please don't smoke. I believe sucking cigarette smoke into your lungs will kill you.::King George VI: I need to relax. My physicians say it relaxes the throat.::Lionel Logue: They're idiots.::King George VI: They've all been knighted.::Lionel Logue: [sarcastic] Makes it official then.

Plot: "Now is the winter of our discontent..." With these timeless words, Duke Richard - lounging on his sun deck - sets his murderous plans in motion. His goal: to eliminate the hated rival Lancaster dynasty, and reign as undisputed king. Standing between him and the throne are his brothers Clarence and King Edward, his nephews the Princes, his bitter adversary Queen Elizabeth, and a host of enemies, rivals, and dubious allies. In the Los Angeles of "Shakespeare's Richard III", violence is the norm: every member of the nobility expects to kill or be killed, according to the code duel lo. They prefer death before dishonor. The women in this society are just as dangerous, courageous, and brutal as the men. The York and Lancaster families - rival branches of the former England Studios - exert a mafia-like control of the city and local politics/law enforcement. Aided by his sinister counselor Buckingham, Richard will stop at nothing - seduction, bribery, conspiracy, and wholesale slaughter - in his bloodthirsty quest, until finally just one adversary remains: his arch-rival Lord Richmond. But why, as the opposing forces join battle, is Richard smiling? What does he know that Richmond doesn't...?

Plot: The duke of York, nicknamed Bertie, was born as royal 'spare heir', younger brother to the prince of Wales, and thus expected to spend a relatively private life with his Scottish wife Elisabeth Bowes-Lyon and their daughters, in the shadow of their reigning father, George V, and next that of his elder brother who succeeded to the British throne as Edward VIII. However Edward decides to put his love for a divorced American, Wallis Simpson, above dynastic duty, and ends up abdicating the throne, which now falls to Bertie, who reigns as George VI. Now he expects to be, as constitutional monarch, little more then a figure head, but again faith has more in store for him: Nazi Germany proves such a formidable war challenger to the British Empire that the nearly desperate nation looks to its royal couple as comforting symbol of the unbroken spirit, a part they play with great success, while hosting chased monarchs and governments from continental Europe. After victory, life returns to normal, but pulmonary disease soon ends George's, leaving the throne to his still young firstborn, queen Elisabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth - The Queen Mother ( History Documentary )
Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon (4 August 1900 – 30 March 2002) was the wife of King George VI and the mother of Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon. She was Queen consort of the United Kingdom and the Dominions from her husband's accession in 1936 until his death in 1952, after which she was known as Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother,[2] to avoid confusion with her daughter. She was the last Empress consort of India.
Born into a family of British nobility as The Honourable Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, she became Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon when her father inherited the Scottish Earldom of Strathmore and Kinghorne in 1904. She came to prominence in 1923 when she married Albert, Duke of York, the second son of King George V and Queen Mary. The couple and their daughters embodied traditional ideas of family and public service.[3] She undertook a variety of public engagements and became known as the "Smiling Duchess" because of her consistent public expression.[4]
In 1936, her husband unexpectedly became King when his brother, Edward VIII, abdicated in order to marry the American divorcée Wallis Simpson. As Queen, Elizabeth accompanied her husband on diplomatic tours to France and North America before the start of World War II. During the war, her seemingly indomitable spirit provided moral support to the British public. In recognition of her role as an asset to British interests, Adolf Hitler described her as "the most dangerous woman in Europe".[5] After the war, her husband's health deteriorated and she was widowed at the age of 51.
On the death of her mother-in-law, Queen Mary, in 1953 and with the former King Edward VIII living abroad and her elder daughter, the new Queen, aged 26, Elizabeth became the senior member of the British Royal Family and assumed a position as family matriarch. In her later years, she was a consistently popular member of the family, even when other members were suffering from low levels of public approval.[6] She continued an active public life until just a few months before her death at the age of 101, seven weeks after the death of her younger daughter, Princess Margaret.

Princess Charlotte Meets Great-Grandmother Queen Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth II arrived at Kensington Palace on Tuesday to meet her great-granddaughter Princess Charlotte for the very first time. Prince William and Kate Middleton drove their second baby back to Kensington shortly after the duchess gave birth over the weekend and just after the queen met the newest member of the royal family, Princess Charlotte was officially registered! A statement from Kensington Palace said, "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have formally registered the birth of Princess Charlotte. The Duke of Cambridge signed the birth register at Kensington Palace this afternoon witnessed by a Registrar from Westminster Register Office." The paperwork for the three-day old wee one shows her birthplace, full name, parents' names and the "usual address" where Princess Charlotte can be reached—not that just anyone can go about reaching her.

Until he started touring regularly in the late 1970s, Mike Oldfield built up a reputation for reclusiveness that verged on hermit-hood - rarely interviewed, seldom seen, he simply sat in the studio, constructing his latest one man masterpiece, and apparently turning down some fabulous offers to go on the road. In fact, given the extraordinary complexity of the three albums he recorded during this period (Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge and Ommadawn), his reluctance to perform live was scarcely surprising. If the Beatles didn't think it possible to recreate some of their stuff on stage, what hope did Kevin Ayers' old bassist have? Just twice did Oldfield stir, once for a BBC TV performance of side one of Tubular Bells, and once for a full-fledged live presentation of the entire disc, shortly after the album's release in June 1973. Surrounding himself with friends - Ayers, David Bedford, Mick Taylor, Steve Hillage, Fred Frith, Pierre Moelin and Ted Speight (Steve Winwood dropped out after missing rehearsals), Oldfield then took over London's Queen Elizabeth Hall for a show that highlights both the strengths and the weaknesses of Tubular Bells. The strengths are in the so-called main themes, the series of disparate melodies that give the piece its body. But the links that thread them together on vinyl are treated somewhat less forgivingly on stage. Side two of the album certainly drags, with the musicians apparently abandoning any hope of capturing its intricacies, and drowning instead in a self-inflicted sea of noodles. The less than pristine sound quality exacerbates this problem, more so than it might on a "conventional" live performance - of course Tubular Bells was only ever conceived as a studio experience, and flaws that one might forgive on, say, a Stones live recording are amplified here to deafening proportions. At the end of the show, said one review, "the entire audience rose to its feet and hollered for more. It was one of those rare spontaneous outbursts of appreciation." Oldfield, on the other hand, swore never to play another show again. - Dave Thompson2013

Secrets of The Virgin Queen Elizabeth Full Documentary Video !
Secrets of the Virgin Queen (Full Documentary).
Elizabeth I (7 September 1533 – 24 March 1603) was Queen of England and Ireland from 17 November 1558 until her death. Sometimes called The Virgin Queen, Gloria or Good Queen Bess, the childless Elizabeth was the fifth and last monarch of the Tudor dynasty. Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry VIII by second wife, Anne Boleyn, who was executed two and a half years after Elizabeth's birth. Anne's marriage to Henry VIII was annulled, and Elizabeth was declared illegitimate. Her half-brother, Edward VI, ruled until his death in 1553, bequeathing the crown to Lady Jane Grey and ignoring the claims of his two half-sisters, Elizabeth and the Roman Catholic Mary, in spite of statute law to the contrary. However, Edward's will was set aside and Mary became queen, deposing Lady Jane Grey. During Mary's reign, Elizabeth was imprisoned for nearly a year on suspicion of supporting Protestant rebels.
In 1558, Elizabeth succeeded her half-sister to the throne, and she set out to rule by good counsel. She depended heavily on a group of trusted advisers, led by William Cecil, Baron Burgher. One of her first actions as queen was the establishment of an English Protestant church, of which she became the Supreme Governor. This Elizabethan Religious Settlement later evolved into today's Church of England. It was expected that Elizabeth would marry and produce an heir to continue the Tudor line. She never did, despite numerous courtships. As she grew older, Elizabeth became famous for her virginity. A cult grew up around her which was celebrated in the portraits, pageants, and literature of the day.
In government, Elizabeth was more moderate than her father and half-siblings had been. One of her mottoes was "video et taceo" ("I see, and say nothing"). In religion she was relatively tolerant, avoiding systematic persecution. After 1570, when the pope declared her illegitimate and released her subjects from obedience to her, several conspiracies threatened her life. All plots were defeated, however, with the help of her ministers' secret service. Elizabeth was cautious in foreign affairs, maneuvering between the major powers of France and Spain. She only half-heatedly supported a number of ineffective, poorly-resourced military campaigns in the Netherlands, France, and Ireland. However, by the mid-1580s, war with Spain could no longer be avoided. When Spain finally decided to attempt to conquer England in 1588, the failure of the Spanish Armada associated her with one of the greatest military victories in English history.
Elizabeth's reign is known as the Elizabethan era. The period is famous for the flourishing of English drama, led by playwrights such as William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe, and for the seafaring prowess of English adventurers such as Francis Drake. Some historians are more reserved in their assessment. They depict Elizabeth as a short-tempered, sometimes indecisive ruler, who enjoyed more than her share of luck. Towards the end of her reign, a series of economic and military problems weakened her popularity. Elizabeth is acknowledged as a charismatic performer and a dogged survivor in an era when government was ramshackle and limited, and when monarchs in neighboring countries faced internal problems that jeopardized their thrones. Such was the case with Elizabeth's rival, Mary, Queen of Scots, whom she imprisoned in 1568 and eventually had executed in 1587. After the short reigns of Elizabeth's half-siblings, her 44 years on the throne provided welcome stability for the kingdom and helped forge a sense of national identity.

Queen Elizabeth II Christmas Message 2014
Queen Elizabeth II used her traditional Christmas broadcast Thursday to call for reconciliation throughout the United Kingdom and to praise medical workers fighting Ebola in Africa.
She said it will take time to heal divisions in Scotland, where a referendum was held this year on whether to remain part of Britain, and praised progress resolving the conflict in Northern Ireland. Elizabeth cited the "Christmas truce" in 1914 as an example to be remembered.
"Something remarkable did happen that Christmas, exactly 100 years ago today," she said. "Without any instruction or command, the shooting stopped and German and British soldiers met in No Man's Land. Photographs were taken and gifts exchanged. It was a Christmas truce."
She said German forces sang "Silent Night" so that it could be heard on the British side of the front line.
"That carol is still much-loved today, a legacy of the Christmas truce, and a reminder to us all that even in the unlikeliest of places hope can still be found," the queen said before wishing everyone a happy Christmas.
The queen writes her own Christmas speech, which is pre-recorded and televised in many parts of the world. She made her first Christmas broadcast on radio in 1952.
The queen and her close family celebrated Christmas at the sprawling Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
The royals attended a church service Christmas morning before a gala lunch. Prince William and his pregnant wife Kate were present, but their toddler son, Prince George, didn't go to church.
Kate told one person in the crowd she didn't bring 1-year-old George because he would have made too much noise.
Prince Charles' wife Camilla also didn't attend because of a painful back injury suffered earlier this month, officials said.
The queen arrived by car while the other royals walked from her estate to the village church.
Hundreds of well-wishers lined the route to the church to exchange Christmas greetings with the royals. Some shouted with glee as Prince Harry walked by. One visitor from Spain told reporters she had asked Harry to marry her.
Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby cancelled his Christmas sermon because of a severe cold. In a statement he expressed "great regret" about his inability to preach his planned sermon about the true meaning of Christmas.
Church officials said the sermon at Canterbury Cathedral would instead be delivered by the Dean of Canterbury Robert Willis.

Datsun East African Rally Wins 1973
The Safari Rally is rally race held in East Africa. It was first held from 27 May to 1 June 1953 as the East African Coronation Safari in Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyika,[1] as a celebration of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. In 1960 it was renamed the East African Safari Rally and kept that name until 1974, when it became the Safari Rally.

From that edition until 2002, it featured over 1000 km of timed stages, with stages well over 60 km long, unlike most rallies which had under 500 km of total timed distance. This meant that the winner's total time was above 12 hours in 1996 and decreased to two seconds shy of 8 hours in 2002.
The event was part of the World Rally Championship calendar for many years until being excluded after 2002 due to the lack of finance and organisation in 2003. The Kenyan government is trying to get the rally's WRC status restored. Since 2003 the event has been part of the African Rally Championship organised by the FIA. It is currently known as the KCB Safari Rally after its sponsor, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB).
Local driver Shekhar Mehta was the most successful in the event with five outright victories (1973, 1979–1982).
Datsun or Nissan has won it seven times. In 1973 it took 1st, 2nd and 4th place overall. Won the Manufacturers' Team Trophy and Three Class Titles.

'It Could Be Me' - 1981 QEF Archive video
WARNING: The start of this video may be disturbing for some viewers.
Narrated by His Royal Highness The Prince Edward, this 1981 video shows how an accident or injury can change a person's life and how they can retrain for work at Queen Elizabeth's Foundation for Disabled People, and how they could still go on holiday through adapted holiday home Lulworth Court.
The video touches on a number of different stories from past QEF residents, guests and trainees. This includes stories of work and training at the Training College and Dorincourt.
Also shown is the social aspect of the charity including a gardening club, sea side holiday, and a wedding. We also see how Banstead Place assists people to live independently.
