Ulcinj
Ulcinj (Montenegrin: Улцињ, pronounced [ǔlt͡siɲ]; Albanian: Ulqin; Italian: Dulcigno) is the southernmost town in Montenegro. The town of Ulcinj has a population of 10,707 (2011 census) of which the majority are Albanians. Ulcinj is the centre of Ulcinj Municipality and the centre of the Albanian community in Montenegro. The Day of Ulcinj is held every first Saturday of April. It symbolizes the end of the collection of olives, the output of the sailors at the sea, and the beginning of the tourist season. Ulcinj is founding member of National Assembly of Albanian Municipalities created on 26 November 2012.

Early historian Livy (59 BC–AD 17) mentioned it, as did Pliny the Elder (23–79), who mentioned it as Olcinium, its old name Colchinium, "founded by [settlers from] Colchis" (Olchinium quod antea Colchinium dictum est a Colchis conditum).Ptolemy (90–168) mentions the city as Greek Oulkinion (Ουλκίνιον). The name, through Late (Vulgar) Roman, became Slavic Ulcinj, Italian: Dulcigno (pronounced [dultʃiɲo]) and Turkish: Ülgün.

i/ˌmɒntᵻˈneɪɡroʊ/ MON-tən-AYG-roh or /ˌmɒntᵻˈniːɡroʊ/ MON-tən-EEG-roh or /ˌmɒntᵻˈnɛɡroʊ/ MON-tən-EG-roh; Montenegrin: Crna Gora / Црна Гора [t͡sr̩̂ːnaː ɡɔ̌ra], meaning "Black Mountain") is a sovereign state in Southeastern Europe. It has a coast on the Adriatic Sea to the south-west and is bordered by Croatia to the west, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the northwest, Serbia to the northeast and Albania to the south-east. Its capital and largest city is Podgorica, while Cetinje is designated as the Prijestonica, meaning the former Royal Capital City.
In the 9th century, there were three principalities on the territory of Montenegro: Duklja, roughly corresponding to the southern half, Travunia, the west, and Rascia, the north. In 1042, archon Stefan Vojislav led a revolt that resulted in the independence of Duklja and the establishment of the Vojislavljević dynasty. Duklja reached its zenith under Vojislav's son, Mihailo (1046–81), and his grandson Bodin (1081–1101). By the 13th century, Zeta had replaced Duklja when referring to the realm. In the late 14th century, southern Montenegro (Zeta) came under the rule of the Balšić noble family, then the Crnojević noble family, and by the 15th century, Zeta was more often referred to as Crna Gora (Venetian: monte negro). Large portions fell under the control of the Ottoman Empire from 1496 to 1878. Parts were controlled by Venice. From 1515 until 1851 the prince-bishops (vladikas) of Cetinje were the rulers. The House of Petrović-Njegoš ruled until 1918. From 1918, it was a part of Yugoslavia. On the basis of an independence referendum held on 21 May 2006, Montenegro declared independence on 3 June of that year.

Publishers weekly in their review called it "a dashing novel set in the rocky heart of the Balkans at the turn of the century, but with emotions and political fervor that uncannily foreshadow the present-day Bosnian quagmire."The Los Angeles Times called it a "a subtle and moving novel, an old-fashioned narrative that addresses modern questions of ethnicity and belonging."

With similar looks to Venice, Perast has a rich and powerful past. And in spite of having only one main street, this tiny village boasts many churches and former palaces.

The most famous individual from the Kastriotic Family was an individual known as Djuradj Kastriotic "Skanderbeg". Skanderbeg is a very well known and famous individual , having been a successful military leader and warrior who faught against the Ottoman Turks. The Dukadzinovics commonly known as Dukagjini today, were also nobles who resided in what is today's northern Albania and certain members of that family were well and truly united with the Skanderbeg, having fought alongside Skanderbeg on the battlefield against the invading Ottoman forces.
Both the Kastriotics and Dukadzinovics are one of the oldest noble families in Albania who lived especially in the 14-15th centuries.
One of the most prominent members of the Dukadzin family, is an individual called Leka Dukadzin, or more commonly know as Leke Dukagjini among the Shqiptar Albanians.
Leka Dukadzin or Leke Dukagjini is said to have comprised a set of rules and laws, that regulated the lives of inhabitants across the regions of north Albania. We will be taking a look at the origins of these laws and uncovering more of the mystery behind the so called-Leke Dukagjini as well as his kanun.
There is much confusion and doubt about their origins and the aim of this video is to uncover the mystery of their origins, by factually showing and documenting their true origins based on primary sources.
We will observe how the Austro-Hungarian historians especially individuals like Lajos Thalloczy, Benjamin Von Kallay, J.G Von Hahn fabricated and falsified history to suit the geopolitical goals of the Austro-Hungarian empire.
We will take a deeper look in to the ethnic origin of Skanderbeg, as well as investigate other members of his family. We will investigate and convey the genealogy of the Dukadzins, using sources from the Venetians Archives and comparing them with Jovan Muzaka's account as well as Karl Hopf's genealogical tree.
Also, in this video, we explore the etymology of the word "Shqiptar", as well as the etymology of the name "Dukadzin".
The aim of this episode is to factually convey the true origins of Skanderbeg and Dukadzin as well as to factually convey the events that took place during their lifetime.

The Hidden History of the Albanians part 2 continues further into in-depth examination of Albanian history. It covers the arrival of the corsair pirates who were Berbers of north Africa that settled around various places in Albania, Along with the arrival of Saracen Berbers from Lucera, Italy. These North African Berbers would contribute vastly to the ethnogenesis of today's Albanian nation especially through linguistics, culture, and genetics. This topic is something that has been covered very little in today’s mainstream Albanian history.
In 1205, Durres fell under the rule of the Republic of Venice and then the Duchy of Durazzo was founded. Meanwhile in Italy In 1224 however, Frederick II, responding to religious uprisings in Sicily, expelled all Muslim Berbers from the island, transferring many to the fortress of Lucera over the next two decades.
Not long after the death of Charles the 1st, The city of Lucera was sacked in 1300 by Catholic forces under the command of Charles II of Naples. The city's Muslim Berber inhabitants were exiled or sold into slavery, with many finding asylum in Albania across the Adriatic Sea. This introduced another wave of Berber-Arab migration in the land of Albania.
John VI Kantakouzenos, Greek nobleman, statesman, and general, stated that various migrants began to flood the region of Albania in the early 14th century, all originating from the port of Durres. This coincides with the fall of Lucera and the arrival of the Berber-Saracen refugees in the land of Albania.
Interestingly enough, Ottoman Traveller and Historian Evliya Celebi recording his commentary in his book of travels called Seyâhatnâme mentioned the franks. Travelling through southern Albania in 1670, Ottoman traveller Evliya Celebi (1611-1684) recounts the legend of the Arab sheikh Jabal-i Alhama, who fled to the mountains of Kurvelesh in Albania and died in Elbasan. According to Evliya, he is the father of some of these tribes of Albania. Evliya Celebi also stated that the Albanian language was formed through a mixture of Frankish-Arabic. The Frankish element would have been introduced earlier from the arrival of the Normans as well as the mercenaries of George Maniakes.
"Among the Albanians still persist the names Cabires and Mardaites, the Chaonians or Liap still call themselves Kurvelies, and the mountaineers of Scodra, Mirdites. As we shall see, the modern Kurvelies were also designated by the Byzantines under the name of the Mardaites."
Sathas, K.N. (1890). Documents inédits relatifs à l'histoire de la Grèce au Moyen âge publiés sous les auspices de la Chambre des députés de Grèce
According to medieval texts, Justinian II (in 690s) relocated a large number of Mardaites to the southern coast of Asia Minor, particularly Pamphylia, Lycia and Cilicia. Later on, in the 9th century, Mardaites moved to the themes of the Peloponnese, Epirus (including Acarnania, Aetolia) and Cephalenia.
An in-depth examination at the term Arnaut is provided, linking it with the Turkish term Bashi-Bazouks and mercenary. Arnaut is a term that has become later falsified in mainstream history to represent someone of Shqiptar Albanian origin but in fact it was a term that corresponded to a mercenary and especially a hired soldier from the region of Arnavutluk, the Turkish term for Albania. These soldiers were not ethnically Shqiptars but actually came from many different ethnic backgrounds.
We explore the history of the north African Corsair that were used as navy fleets by the Ottomans. These north African Corsair pirates would explore the coasts of Albania and would settle in certain various regions around Albania, Greece and Montenegro. They would be known for pillaging, stealing and raiding.
Berber cultural traits have been found amongst today's Albanians such as the Tagelemust headwear, which is not found in any neighbouring country within the Balkan region or Anatolia. Along with Y-DNA North African genes present amongst some Albanians today as well as Berber words found in the Albanian language, these are all undeniable evidence of Berber influence that exists amongst the Albanians of today.

Ulcinj
Ulcinj (Montenegrin: Улцињ, pronounced [ǔlt͡siɲ]; Albanian: Ulqin; Italian: Dulcigno) is the southernmost town in Montenegro. The town of Ulcinj has a population of 10,707 (2011 census) of which the majority are Albanians. Ulcinj is the centre of Ulcinj Municipality and the centre of the Albanian community in Montenegro. The Day of Ulcinj is held every first Saturday of April. It symbolizes the end of the collection of olives, the output of the sailors at the sea, and the beginning of the tourist season. Ulcinj is founding member of National Assembly of Albanian Municipalities created on 26 November 2012.

Early historian Livy (59 BC–AD 17) mentioned it, as did Pliny the Elder (23–79), who mentioned it as Olcinium, its old name Colchinium, "founded by [settlers from] Colchis" (Olchinium quod antea Colchinium dictum est a Colchis conditum).Ptolemy (90–168) mentions the city as Greek Oulkinion (Ουλκίνιον). The name, through Late (Vulgar) Roman, became Slavic Ulcinj, Italian: Dulcigno (pronounced [dultʃiɲo]) and Turkish: Ülgün.

The most famous individual from the Kastriotic Family was an individual known as Djuradj Kastriotic "Skanderbeg". Skanderbeg is a very well known and famous individual , having been a successful military leader and warrior who faught against the Ottoman Turks. The Dukadzinovics commonly known as Dukagjini today, were also nobles who resided in what is today's northern Albania and certain members of that family were well and truly united with the Skanderbeg, having fought alongside Skanderbeg on the battlefield against the invading Ottoman forces.
Both the Kastriotics and Dukadzinovics are one of the oldest noble families in Albania who lived especially in the 14-15th centuries.
One of the most prominent members of the Dukadzin family, is an individual called Leka Dukadzin, or more commonly know as Leke Dukagjini among the Shqiptar Albanians.
Leka Dukadzin or Leke Dukagjini is said to have comprised a set of rules and laws, that regulated the lives of inhabitants across the regions of north Albania. We will be taking a look at the origins of these laws and uncovering more of the mystery behind the so called-Leke Dukagjini as well as his kanun.
There is much confusion and doubt about their origins and the aim of this video is to uncover the mystery of their origins, by factually showing and documenting their true origins based on primary sources.
We will observe how the Austro-Hungarian historians especially individuals like Lajos Thalloczy, Benjamin Von Kallay, J.G Von Hahn fabricated and falsified history to suit the geopolitical goals of the Austro-Hungarian empire.
We will take a deeper look in to the ethnic origin of Skanderbeg, as well as investigate other members of his family. We will investigate and convey the genealogy of the Dukadzins, using sources from the Venetians Archives and comparing them with Jovan Muzaka's account as well as Karl Hopf's genealogical tree.
Also, in this video, we explore the etymology of the word "Shqiptar", as well as the etymology of the name "Dukadzin".
The aim of this episode is to factually convey the true origins of Skanderbeg and Dukadzin as well as to factually convey the events that took place during their lifetime.

World War I or the First World War, often abbreviated as WWI or WW1, began on 28 July 1914 and ended on 11 November 1918. Referred to by contemporaries as the "Great War", its belligerents included much of Europe, the Russian Empire, the United States, and the Ottoman Empire, with fighting also expanding into the Middle East, Africa, and parts of Asia. One of the deadliest conflicts in history, an estimated 9 million people were killed in combat, while over 5 million civilians died from military occupation, bombardment, hunger, and disease.[2] Millions of additional deaths resulted from genocides within the Ottoman Empire and the 1918 influenza pandemic, which was exacerbated by the movement of combatants during the war.[3][4]

The Hidden History of the Albanians part 2 continues further into in-depth examination of Albanian history. It covers the arrival of the corsair pirates who were Berbers of north Africa that settled around various places in Albania, Along with the arrival of Saracen Berbers from Lucera, Italy. These North African Berbers would contribute vastly to the ethnogenesis of today's Albanian nation especially through linguistics, culture, and genetics. This topic is something that has been covered very little in today’s mainstream Albanian history.
In 1205, Durres fell under the rule of the Republic of Venice and then the Duchy of Durazzo was founded. Meanwhile in Italy In 1224 however, Frederick II, responding to religious uprisings in Sicily, expelled all Muslim Berbers from the island, transferring many to the fortress of Lucera over the next two decades.
Not long after the death of Charles the 1st, The city of Lucera was sacked in 1300 by Catholic forces under the command of Charles II of Naples. The city's Muslim Berber inhabitants were exiled or sold into slavery, with many finding asylum in Albania across the Adriatic Sea. This introduced another wave of Berber-Arab migration in the land of Albania.
John VI Kantakouzenos, Greek nobleman, statesman, and general, stated that various migrants began to flood the region of Albania in the early 14th century, all originating from the port of Durres. This coincides with the fall of Lucera and the arrival of the Berber-Saracen refugees in the land of Albania.
Interestingly enough, Ottoman Traveller and Historian Evliya Celebi recording his commentary in his book of travels called Seyâhatnâme mentioned the franks. Travelling through southern Albania in 1670, Ottoman traveller Evliya Celebi (1611-1684) recounts the legend of the Arab sheikh Jabal-i Alhama, who fled to the mountains of Kurvelesh in Albania and died in Elbasan. According to Evliya, he is the father of some of these tribes of Albania. Evliya Celebi also stated that the Albanian language was formed through a mixture of Frankish-Arabic. The Frankish element would have been introduced earlier from the arrival of the Normans as well as the mercenaries of George Maniakes.
"Among the Albanians still persist the names Cabires and Mardaites, the Chaonians or Liap still call themselves Kurvelies, and the mountaineers of Scodra, Mirdites. As we shall see, the modern Kurvelies were also designated by the Byzantines under the name of the Mardaites."

According to medieval texts, Justinian II (in 690s) relocated a large number of Mardaites to the southern coast of Asia Minor, particularly Pamphylia, Lycia and Cilicia. Later on, in the 9th century, Mardaites moved to the themes of the Peloponnese, Epirus (including Acarnania, Aetolia) and Cephalenia.
An in-depth examination at the term Arnaut is provided, linking it with the Turkish term Bashi-Bazouks and mercenary. Arnaut is a term that has become later falsified in mainstream history to represent someone of Shqiptar Albanian origin but in fact it was a term that corresponded to a mercenary and especially a hired soldier from the region of Arnavutluk, the Turkish term for Albania. These soldiers were not ethnically Shqiptars but actually came from many different ethnic backgrounds.
We explore the history of the north African Corsair that were used as navy fleets by the Ottomans. These north African Corsair pirates would explore the coasts of Albania and would settle in certain various regions around Albania, Greece and Montenegro. They would be known for pillaging, stealing and raiding.
Berber cultural traits have been found amongst today's Albanians such as the Tagelemust headwear, which is not found in any neighbouring country within the Balkan region or Anatolia. Along with Y-DNA North African genes present amongst some Albanians today as well as Berber words found in the Albanian language, these are all undeniable evidence of Berber influence that exists amongst the Albanians of today.
