He’s faced unimaginable struggles, but now Lamar Odom is only thinking positive thoughts as he continues his recovery from an alleged drug overdose, HollywoodLife.com can EXCLUSIVELY reveal. Find out how he’s staying strong now!

Slowly, but surely, Lamar Odom, 35, is on a quest to regain full health after falling unconscious at a Nevada brothel following an alleged drug overdose, which caused the basketball star to suffer several strokesHollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned, despite knowing he has a long road ahead of him, Lamar’s not letting any negativity creep into his mind. He realizes he got a “second chance” and is not going to let his loved ones down.

“One thing that is important for Lamar, and something he’s really concentrating on, is not letting any negative thoughts affect his recovery,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “He’s remained very positive through all his issues, despite not having much mobility, which is something that could’ve got him down being the athlete he is.”

Before his horrific ordeal at the Love Ranch, reports suggested Lamar was feeling down in the dumps about life, and that was said to have sparked a 3-day drug and booze binge that almost cost him his life. However, he’s not letting that get in the way of his recovery, especially now he has Khloe Kardashian, 31, as his cheerleader by his bedside at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Our insider also says that Lamar’s thankful for another chance at life, and Khloe has been impressed by his attitude as he continues to use the love and support he’s received to get himself back on the right track.

“Lamar is aware that he’s been given a second chance, and is thankful to God for giving him the opportunity to right his wrongs,” the source continues. “Khloe has been highly encouraged by his motivation to overcome the hurdle of knowing he has a long battle of rehabilitation ahead. He’s determined to get better for himself, for Khloe and for everyone else who has shown him love and support.”

As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Lamar is holding out hope for a return to play basketball — at the end of his recovery.

“Lamar has vowed to Khloe, friends and family that he’ll return to the basketball court one day,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Obviously, he needs a lot of rehab before that could ever happen, but it’s his end goal at the end of everything. Basketball is still his first love, and he’s always made sure to keep in shape even when he was a free agent, in the hope that he may get signed again. But this return wouldn’t be professional. If it’s just to shoot some hoops with friends, former teammates, that is what he is aiming for.”
