The Israel Police (Hebrew: משטרת ישראל, Mishteret Yisrael; Arabic: شرطة إسرائيل) is the civilian police force of Israel. As with most other police forces in the world, its duties include crime fighting, traffic control, maintaining public safety, and counter-terrorism. It is under the jurisdiction of the Internal Security ministry.
The Israel Police operates throughout Israel proper, the Golan Heights and Area C of the West Bank, in all places in which Israel has civilian control. There are no local or "municipal" police departments in Israel.
The current police commissioner is Rav-Nitzav Yohanan Danino, who succeeded Rav-Nitzav Dudi Cohen on May 1, 2011.
In an emergency, the police can be reached by dialing 100 from any telephone in Israel.
The Israel police is responsible for public security, maintaining public order, securing public events and rallies, dismantling suspicious objects and explosives (EOD), riot and crowd control, law enforcement, crime fighting, detective work, covert operations against drug networks, investigating suspects, road traffic control, operating the Civil Guard, handling civilian complaints, handling youth violence, educational campaigns.

A police officer has been suspended after he was filmed carrying out an apparently unprovoked attack on an IDF soldier in Holon.
The video, filmed by a local resident, shows the policeman talking to the soldier before hitting him and then arresting him at the scene of a suspicious package in the central town.
The video shows the soldier standing with his bicycle when he is approached by the police officer. After a brief exchange, the police officer begins to hit and shove the soldier, before he is joined by another officer. The two policemen then drag the soldier to the side and begin to beat and kick him before forcibly arresting him while he is on the ground.
The soldier's brother said: "I arrived at the scene five minutes after the incident. The video was given to us by neighbors who filmed it on a home video camera. My brother was recruited recently, he is a good boy and an outstanding student. He is someone who never hit anyone. They are just animals not people. I have still not been able to talk to him."
Israel Police condemned the attack and said that disciplinary action is underway.
"This is an incident that took place yesterday (Sunday) at 6pm, after a suspicious package was spotted in Holon. The scenes in the video are not consistent with the values of the Israel Police and we condemn such behavior. The footage has been handed to the Police Investigations Department and the officer suspended."

Violence marred a public Remembrance Day ceremony in Beit Shemesh on Wednesday, with tensions between the city’s ultra-Orthodox and Zionist communities boiling over into name calling and violence.
At least one physical altercation and multiple occurrences of verbal abuse took place as hassidim and their national religious and secular neighbors clashed over the observance of Israel’s memorial day.
The ceremony was held at the Resido traffic circle, a junction between the hassidic enclave of Ramat Beit Shemesh Bet and the national-religious neighborhood of Sheinfeld, only blocks from where haredi protesters spat on and cursed schoolgirls during a dispute over a school building in 2011.
According to organizer Richard Peres, an opposition member of the ultra-Orthodox- dominated city council, the event had been moved to Resido at the request of the police, who had objected to his initial proposal to hold the event at the site of a recent incident in which a haredi soldier was harassed.
Many of the most extreme members of the ultra-Orthodox community live nearby.
Citing recent incidents of verbal attacks against soldiers – including one on Holocaust Remembrance Day in which an ultra-Orthodox serviceman was showered with calls of Nazi by a large mob – Peres told The Jerusalem Post that he did not want to make trouble. The commemoration, he explained, was intended as a way to both stand up against such actions and to express how Israel’s soldiers are “the most holy value in our lives.”
Most haredim don’t agree with those who attack soldiers but “nobody is stopping it, especially not the mayor,” he added.
Standing amid a flag waving crowd of secular and national religious residents in the island in the center of the traffic circle, Peres called upon haredi passersby to participate in memorializing Israel’s fallen soldiers.
“We don’t intend to cause a provocation” but rather to “sanctify life,” he announced over a loudspeaker. “Haredim and other Israelis are not enemies,” he added.
Opposition leader Eli Cohen agreed, telling the Post that he hopes the haredim would “feel that the soldiers are part of them” as well.
At first, most of the haredim living in the neighborhood seemed more bemused than anything else, saying that they didn’t care one way or the other about the event and with one going so far as to say he believes that residents should learn Torah in the merit of those who fell.
“They are trying to make a provocation, but we won’t respond,” one heavily bearded hassid said.
One national-religious resident who declined to be identified said that “there have been soldiers who have been harassed, spat at, called names etc. while waiting at bus-stops near and around the Resido area” and that most of them do not file complaints.
While soldiers generally do not face harassment in most of the city, the problem was severe enough in several neighborhoods that the army decided last May to allow haredi soldiers to travel home sans their uniforms.
Not all members of the national religious community supported the ceremony, however, with some taking to Facebook to voice their displeasure and terming it provocative.
Among those who came out against the ceremony was former Yesh Atid MK and Sheinfeld resident Rabbi Dov Lipman.
“I am 100 percent against it. We have restored quiet to our neighborhood and children of the neighborhood walk in uniform all the time with no issues. There is no reason to do this event there other than a provocation and I have begged Richard Peres not to come to our neighborhood to do this,” he wrote.
“I don’t think this is the day or place for it and for all the official statements of ‘why can’t we do a memorial for soldiers whenever and wherever we want.’ His goal is a provocation and I am against it.”
As the event progressed the presence of members of more extreme groups began to come out, with one hassid whipping out and waving a Palestinian flag, prompting several men to run after him hurling sticks and insults.
As the police pushed the men back, the hassid ran down a nearby hill into a local study hall, police hot on his heels.
At the same time, residents of a local building began screaming that the “Zionists” should leave their neighborhood and a number of residents watching the commemoration began yelling insults, comparing their secular neighbors to World War II era-Germans.
Those participating in the commemoration are “worse than Nazis,” one hassid said, explaining that Germans “were born that way” but that Jews should know better.
Participants in the event had to be escorted to their cars by riot police, who were out in force, as hassidim rained abuse upon them from their balconies.

APTN has dramatic vision of Israeli undercover police at work in East Jerusalem.
The incident began when police charged a number of protesters in East Jerusalem.
Police on horseback moved in to disperse the crowd and youths began throwing rocks at an Israeli checkpoint.
The undercover police then grabbed several of the youths - Israeli television matrixing their faces for security reasons.
The undercover officers then put on balaclavas as they called in regular security forces to take the youths away.
Meanwhile more violence erupted on the West Bank after Friday prayers.
A gun battle broke out between Israeli soldiers and Palestinians as hundreds of protesters took to the streets in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
The Israelis fired rubber bullets and teargas grenades at the protesters and there were several shots fired by Palestinian gunmen.
The protesters ran for cover as the firing increased - it's not known if there were any casualities.
The Palestinians in Ramallah joined a call made during similar protests in Hebron and Nablus where protesters called for a holy war.
The clashes have continued despite Palestinian sources saying on Friday that they were close to arranging a weekend summit with the Israelis in a high-level attempt to end more than two weeks of violence.
The summit is expected to include the United States, Egypt, Jordan and the United Nations.
Hundreds of Palestinians took to the streets of the West Bank cities of Hebron and Nablus shouting anti-Israeli slogans and calling for a holy war.
Israeli minister without portfolio, Rabbi Michael Melchior, refutes the notion that that the events of the last 24 hours constitute a religious war.
Speaking in Jerusalem, he said this is a struggle between two peoples fighting over the same piece of land, but that there are extremists on both sides who would like to see it turn into a holy war.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"I'm very scared of the option of this turning into a religious war. There are those on the Palestinian side who want that and unfortunately there are some on our side who want that. They want it because they know that if its a religious conflict it will never reach a solution because religious conflicts are absolute. But this is not a religious conflict, this is a national conflict between two peoples who claim that the same area is theirs."

For a third day running one of the world’s holiest places, the al-Aqsa mosque complex in Jerusalem, has been a scene of running battles between Israeli police and Palestinian youths.
The Israelis say they are attempting to secure the area, known to the Jews as Temple Mount, ahead of Jewish new year celebrations, and that they have intelligence suggesting there are plans to disrupt it.
The Palestinians fear the Israeli government is about to allow Jewish prayer there. It has been coming under increasing pressure from ultra-religious groups to allow it for the first time since Israel took complete control of the city in 1967.

The Israeli police impose age restrictions in Al Aqsa
Israel has approved the use of sniper fire against Palestinian stone-throwers in Jerusalem al-Quds.
Israel’s attorney general approved the plan after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged him to take harsher measures against rock-throwers. Previously, Israeli police were only allowed to use rubber bullets to disperse protesters. Netanyahu also warned there will be significant fines for minors who throw stones at Israeli forces. The Jerusalem District Court has charged four Palestinian teenagers with throwing stones at Israeli security forces in the past two months.

Paestinian Muslims, Murabitat screechers, Jordanian Waqf and Israeli police brawl on Temple mount
“The plan that the Israeli government wants to put in place is frighteningly criminal; it will lead to the al-Aqsa mosque being divided up,” said the Palestinian’s chief negotiator Saeb Erekat.
Youths hurled stones and flares at soldiers, with unrest spilling into the narrow streets of the Old City. A passing Israeli motorist was killed in what may have been a stone-throwing incident, say police.
King Abdullah of Jordan condemned the violence and warned if it continued Jordan would “have to take action”. Jordan is the traditional custodian of the site, and signed a peace deal with Israel in 1994

Clashes at Holy site enter third day in Israel [video]
Clashes at Holy site enter third day in Israel [video]
https://youtu.be/1d_8On8qvY0
JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel's prime minister vowed tougher measures to curb Palestinian violence at an emergency meeting Tuesday night after police clashed with Palestinian protesters in a third straight day of unrest at Jerusalem's most sensitive holy site during the Jewish new year holiday of Rosh Hashanah.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel "will use all necessary measures to fight against those who throw stones, firebombs, pipe bombs and fireworks in order to attack civilians and police. On the eve of the holiday it was again proven that throwing stones can kill." He said he will take steps so that attackers will face tougher punishment.
On Monday an Israel died after Palestinians pelted his car with rocks. And several Israeli civilians and police were injured in various attacks by Palestinians this week.
Netanyahu said Israel is committed to ensuring the status quo at the holy site but that "rioters won't be allowed to stop Jewish visitors" to the hilltop.
Police entered the Al-Aqsa mosque compound early in the morning to disperse a group of protesters who had holed up inside the mosque overnight, said police spokeswoman Luba Samri. The protesters threw rocks, fireworks, concrete blocks and a firebomb at the officers, she said, adding that two Palestinians were arrested and five police officers were slightly injured in the violence.
A firebomb thrown at police from within the mosque ignited a rug and wooden planks piled up by the protesters, Samri said. Mosque officials later extinguished the fire and the police managed to restore calm and open the site for visitors, she added.
Azzam Khatib, the director of the Waqf — the Islamic religious authority that oversees the compound — said Israeli police entered deep inside the mosque in what he called "a very dangerous development." Police denied the allegation and said officers only removed the barricade that protesters had set up at the entrance.
The director of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Omar Kiswani, blamed Israeli police for the tensions and said the gate used for visitors to access the site should be shut. He did not comment on the protesters' alleged use of firebombs from within the sacred place, the third holiest site in Islam. Police have said that firecrackers and firebombs thrown from within the mosque have caused fires.
Nearby, more Palestinian protesters gathered and police used tear gas and stun grenades to disperse them. Later, police said a Palestinian attacked two young Jews in Jerusalem's Old City, then ran away. He was later arrested, police said.
Late Tuesday, three Palestinians were wounded in clashes between militants from the Islamic Jihad group and Palestinian security forces in the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank, doctors and security officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity under regulations.
Palestinian police raided the camp after militants from Islamic Jihad opened fire during their own press conference, in anger over the incidents at the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Palestinian police exchanged fire with the militants. One policeman and two bystanders were wounded in the shooting, according to witnesses who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.
The compound in Jerusalem's Old City is a frequent flashpoint and its fate is a core issue at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is known to Jews as the Temple Mount, site of the two biblical Jewish temples. Muslims revere it as the Noble Sanctuary, where they believe the Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven.
Non-Muslim visitors are only allowed to enter the site at specific hours and are banned by police from praying there.
Muslims view these visits as a provocation and accuse Jewish extremists of plotting to take over the site. The compound often becomes the center of tensions on major Jewish holidays such as Rosh Hashana, which ends Tuesday night.

Clashes have erupted between Ethiopian-Israeli protesters and police over a video showing an Israeli officer striking a Ethiopian Jewish soldier, “exposing an open, bleeding wound in the heart of Israeli society" is how the Israeli president has described it.
Why are Ethiopian Jews in Israel or maybe blacks in general, treated this way? We’ll ask why black Jews have become an underclass plagued by poverty, and unemployment.

Renewed violence at the Al Aqsa
Renewed violence at the Al Aqsa
Renewed violence at the Al Aqsa
The clashes took place after Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon last week outlawed two Muslim civilian groups that help protect the Al Aqsa site. Israel accused them of confronting Jewish visitors to the complex which is holy to both faiths.
Israeli police say they entered Al Aqsa to 'prevent riots' and arrest young Palestinian stone throwers. But Palestinian witnesses say the police entered the Mosque, firing stun grenades and rubber-coated steel bullets, injuring people who were praying inside.
Why is Al Aqsa time and time again such a place of tension?

Demonstrations for black right are being controlled by 'military' means though Palestinians are attacked by Army, Navy, Air Force and the latest deadly weapons. Both groups suffer segregation, racism, denial of human rights, land ownership, protections by the Courts and so on. People all over the world are struggling for their rights so Western Countries should not, at this time in history, be still oppressing their neighbors.

Israel champions itself as the "only democracy" in the Middle East claiming to treat all its citizens equally and fairly. However, Ethiopian Jews are increasingly protesting against the regime’s racism and police brutality.
Some 135,000 native Ethiopian Jews live in Israel (around 2% of the population), including over 50,000 that have been born inside the occupied Palestinian territories.

Mossad - The World's Most Efficient Killing Machine
Police Departments in the US are being militarized with heavy arms and equipment. But the training for many is taking place in Israel paid for in part by ADL and others.

The Sun Will Rise - Ethiopian Jews facing racism and discrimination in Israel
Ethiopians have long complained about unfair treatment and police violence by Israeli authorities. Thousands of Jews of Ethiopian origin are treated as third-class citizens.
Tens of thousands of Ethiopian Jews affected by famine were airlifted to Israel in the 1980s and 1990s after a rabbinical ruling that they were direct descendants of the biblical Jewish Dan tribe.

Israeli has vowed to use "any means necessary" to curb stoning-throwing attacks against its citizens.
Police officers have been authorised to fire live rounds in certain situations where civilian lives are considered to be in danger.
"Stones and firebombs are deadly weapons; they kill and have killed. Therefore, in recent days we have changed the open-fire orders for police in Jerusalem," said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

September 18, 2015 - Israel’s attorney general approved the plan after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged him to take harsher measures against rock-throwers.

The United Nations Security Council has called for restraint at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem as clashes between Israeli police and Palestinian worshippers continue for the fourth day in a row. Three Muslims trying to reach the mosque to participate in Friday prayer services were injured in the clashes, which also extended to the area between Jerusalem and Ramallah. Noor Harazeen reports from Palestine for teleSUR.

Israeli police have restricted Palestinian men under the age of 40 from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for Friday prayers.
Earlier in the day reported that Israeli buses carrying dozens of settlers were heading towards the Mughrabi Gate in order to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque within the coming hours, Middle East Monitor reported.
As many as 150 Jewish settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque under heavy protection from the Israeli forces yesterday.
Israeli extremist and members of the ruling Likud party have also participated in the storming of the mosque.
Al-Aqsa Mosque has been subjected in the past four days to repeated incursions by Jewish settlers under protection from the Israeli police leading to violent clashes with Muslim worshippers.

Cenk hosting. Correction on the story of the French reporter that witnessed a rocket attack while reporting in Gaza. TYT reported that it was an Israeli missile that landed there, but it was actually launched from the location by Hamas. Yesterday, another rocket attack hit another UN school doubling as a shelter for the thousands of displaced citizens in Gaza, killing even more innocent civilians and children. When Obama urged Netanyahu to ease up on their killings, the Israeli PM told Obama to never second guess him again. Analysis of the shrapnel from the killings in Jabaliya show that it was heavy artillery not designed for precision attacks. More and more evidence like this show that the consistent bombings of citizens have nothing to do with the perceived story that they are retaliating against Hamas missiles in the area. Cenk outlines that these actions are obviously terrorism. The kidnapped Israeli soldier was killed early on, and leaders knew, but they acted like they thought he was being held so that they could launch a brutal attack under the guise of recovering their missing soldier. With the latest news, some of Israel’s top allies like France are openly condemning the horror. The United States State Dept has even spoken out against the murder of innocent Palestinian children. Video of Valerie Jarrett appearing on Sunday shows, calling the attacks indefensible, that we can’t condone the killing of all these kids. Mike Bloomberg appeared on the same show claiming that Israel is not to blame and that they can’t respond proportionately, but overwhelmingly since Hamas is hiding among civilians in hospitals and shelters. A German paper reported that Israel was tapping the phone of John Kerry while he was trying to broker a deal between them and Palestine. They later used the info obtained to disrupt peace talks.
Ana joins Cenk for SCS. NYPD arrested a woman in her home and a tape showed that they pulled her out of her apartment with no clothes on. Her 12 year old daughter and other young family members were also abused and arrested by the police. They showed up to the wrong floor of the building where a disturbance was reported and abused this woman instead. The NYPD released a tape of a gunfight between two rap artists that were shooting a low budget music video. After one guy was shot 5 times and survived, the others just walked away. Cenk notices that the shooter never spilled his drink after shooting and pistol whipping the victim 3-4 times. The Atlantic did a study of how success is based on a male name vs a female name of a person. Women with more masculine names enjoyed more success than women with traditionally feminine names.

A portion of our Young Turks Main Show from June 8, 2015. For more go to http://www.tytmembership.com. Cenk hosting. Story of McKinney Texas police officers harassing, and attacking Black teenagers at a pool party. Videos of one particular officer that threw many of the kids on the sidewalk, pinned one girl on the ground for talking back, and pulling his gun on the outraged kids. Cenk talks about the background of the officer that had many police brutality videos saved on his YouTube page. Some of the racist homeowners spoke out in support of the cops’ overreactions. The SC cop that killed Walter Scott has been indicted for murder. Huge elections in Turkey resulted in President Erdogan’s party losing the Parliamentary majority in significant fashion. The Rand Corporation has done a study on the economic effects of peace vs more violence in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Palestine. If peace occurs, Israel would gain $120 billion, while Palestine would gain $50 billion. If conflict continues, Israel would lose $250 billion, and Palestine’s economy would drop by over 40%. Rick Perry went on FTN and complained about Wall St banks being allowed to run roughshod with no regulation, right before complaining about too much regulation on banks…small ones. Rick Santorum went on Fox News and got his ass handed to him on his flat tax proposal, telling the Pope to leave climate science up to scientists, and his complaining about not being invited to Fox’s GOP debate. Videos of the grilling.Electile Disfunction Segment. Ted Cruz has invited one lucky campaign supporter on a shooting excursion with him as part of a sweepstakes. One curious caveat is that the winner will have to take part in a background check even though Cruz voted against expansion of background checks. His campaign gave a bunch of senseless reasons for this hypocrisy. Lindsey Graham told CNN that Caitlyn Jenner is welcome in his Republican Party even though he’s against many rights Jenner wishes to enjoy. After Hillary Clinton seemingly endorsed a $15 minimum wage, she backed out of the assertion when it made news. After Bill O’Reilly learned that a large majority of millennials get their news from Facebook and the internet in general, he spoke to Bernie Goldberg about his outrage and disdain for young people’s cluelessness.
