The Delhi Sultanate was a Delhi-based Muslim kingdom that stretched over large parts of the Indian subcontinent for 320 years (1206–1526). Five dynasties ruled over Delhi Sultanate sequentially, the first four of which were of Turkic origin and the last was the Afghan Lodi. The Lodi dynasty was replaced by the Mughal dynasty. The five dynasties were the Mamluk dynasty (1206–90); the Khilji dynasty (1290–1320); the Tughlaq dynasty (1320–1414); the Sayyid dynasty (1414–51); and the Afghan Lodi dynasty (1451–1526).
Qutb-ud-din Aibak, a former slave of Muhammad Ghori, was the first sultan of Delhi and his dynasty conquered large areas of northern India. Afterwards the Khilji dynasty was also able to conquer most of central India, but both failed to unite the Indian subcontinent. Delhi sultanate is also noted for being one of the few states to repel an attack from the Mongol Empire. Delhi Sultanate reached its peak in terms of geographical reach, during the Tughlaq dynasty, covering most of Indian subcontinent. The Delhi Sultanate declined thereafter, with continuing Hindu-Muslim wars, and kingdoms such as Vijayanagara Empire re-asserting their independence as well as new Muslim sultanates such as Bengal Sultanate breaking off.
The Sultanate caused destruction and desecration of ancient temples of South Asia, as well as led to the emergence of Indo-Islamic architecture. The Delhi Sultanate is the era that enthroned one of the few female rulers in Islamic history, Razia Sultana from 1236 to 1240. In 1526 the Delhi Sultanate fell and was replaced by the Mughal Empire.
By 962 AD, Hindu and Buddhist kingdoms in South Asia were under a wave of raids from Muslim armies from Central Asia and Persia. Among them was Mahmud of Ghazni who raided and plundered kingdoms in north India, from east of the Indus river to west of Yamuna river, 17 times between 997 AD to 1030 AD. Mahmud of Ghazni raided the treasuries but retracted each time, only extending Islamic rule into western Punjab.
A wave of raids on north Indian and western Indian kingdoms by Muslim warlords continued after Mahmud of Ghazni, for plunder and loot from these kingdoms. These raids did not establish or extend permanent boundaries of their Islamic kingdoms. The Ghurid Sultan Mu'izz al-Din Muhammad, from 1173 AD began a systematic war of expansion into north India. He sought to carve out a principality for himself by expanding the Islamic world, a tradition common among the warring orthodox (Sunni) and heterodox (Shia) warlords in West and Central Asia since the 9th century onwards. Mu’izz sought a Sunni Islamic kingdom of his own, that extended east of Indus river, and he thus laid the foundation for Muslim kingdom called Delhi Sultanate. Some historians chronicle Delhi Sultanate over 1192-1526 AD (334 years) because of Mu'izz al-Din's presence and geographical claims in South Asia by 1192 AD.
Mu'izz al-Din was assassinated in 1206, by Ismāʿīlī Shia Muslims by some accounts or by Hindu Khokhars by other accounts. After the assassination, it was one of Mu’izz slaves (or Mamluk, Arabic: مملوك), the Turkic Qutbu l-Din Aibak, who assumed power, becoming the first Sultan of Delhi.
Dynasties
Mamluk
Qutub-ud-din Aibak was a slave of Mu'izz al-Din, whose reign started Delhi Sultanate. He was of Cuman-Kipchak origin. On account of his lineage, his dynasty is known as the Mamluk (Slave) Dynasty (not to be confused with Mamluk dynasty of Iraq or Mamluk dynasty of Egypt).
Aibak's reign as the Sultan of Delhi lasted 4 years. After his death, Aram Shah assumed power in 1210, but he was assassinated by Iltutmish (his nephew) in 1211. Iltutmish's power was precarious, and a number of Muslim amirs (nobles) challenged his authority. Some Qutbi amirs supported him. After a series of conquests and brutal executions of opposition, he consolidated his power. His rule was challenged a number of times, such as by Qubacha, and this led to a series of wars. Iltumish conquered Multan and Bengal from contesting Muslim rulers, as well as Ranathambhore and Siwalik from the Hindu rulers. He also attacked, defeated and executed Taj al-Din Yildiz, who asserted his rights as heir to Mu'izz al-Din Muhammad. Iltutmish's rule lasted till 1236. Following the death of Iltutmish, Delhi Sultanate saw a succession of weak rulers, disputing Muslim nobility, assassinations and short lived tenures. Power shifted from Rukn ud din Firuz to Razia Sultana and others, until Ghiyas ud din Balban came to power and ruled from 1266 to 1287. He was succeeded by 17-year old Muiz ud din Qaiqabad, who ordered poisoning of Nizam-ud-Din and appointed Jalal-ud-din Firoz Shah Khilji as the commander of Delhi Sultanate army. Khilji assassinated Muiz ud din Qaiqabad and assumed power, thus ending the Mamluk dynasty.
Alai Gate and Qutub Minar were built during Mamluk and Khalji dynasty periods of Delhi Sultanate.

For the Black Pope had used the military might of the White Anglo-Saxon-Celtic Protestant British Empire to destroy the Islamic Ottoman Empire —both "heretic" and "infidel" peoples being enemies of Rome—by the end of World War I. On its ruins Jesuit Superior General Wlodimir Ledochowski and his Jesuit Assistants, using Protestant Knight of Malta King George V, divided up the Islamic Ottoman Empire into the Muslim nations we know today as Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Egypt. These Muslim nations would then be built with trillions of dollars via British and American individual income/excise taxes.
The most significant nation of all is Israel, considered by Rome to be her "Revived Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem," the first Kingdom of Jerusalem having been lost to the Muslim Egyptian Mamluks in 1291. Israel too would be built with billions of dollars via individual income/excise taxes leveled upon historic White Protestant nations such as Germany (Prussia), Switzerland, England and America! The Black Pope's Central Banks would extend the needed credit created out of thin air, and the robbed and raped "taxpayers" of those once White Protestant nations would be the collateral. WASPS are merely the Order's "coolies" to build Rome's nations and empires!
Pope JPII with Elizabeth II 2005Thus, the Jesuit-papacy has used the Apostate Protestant British Crown to enforce the Temporal Power of the "Vicar of Christ" for the last two hundred years! Through England, the Black Pope first created "Palestine" (the Vatican's surname for Israel) to be a national homeland for the Jews—the heralded open-but-false policy of Rome. After the consummation of the Vatican's Second Thirty Years' War (1914-1945), after the Company of Jesus had used both Hitler's Gestapo/SS and Stalin's NKVD/GRU—bought and paid for by the American income/excise "taxpayer"—to extirpate over half of Eurasian Jewry, survivors who sought to return to Israel were refused entrance into "Palestine" via the threat of British gunboats and bayonets. For this "cursing" of the physical descendants of Jacob, the risen Son of God would enforce the curse of Genesis 12:1-3 against Apostate Protestant England. For persecuting the racial Hebrew/Jewish/Israelites (regardless of their religion), Great Britain would lose India in 1948 and her empire by the end of the Pope's Cold War Hoax (1945-1990).
Freemasonic Third Temple modelAfter desperate fighting on the part of the anti-pope, anti-Haganah, Jewish Irgun, Britain finally abandoned "Palestine" resulting in the founding of the State of Israel in 1948—to the utter shock of the Arabs. Rome's secret-but-true policy—the re-establishment of the "Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem" to be overseen by the pope's Knights of Malta—was now a reality after over 600 years of patient plotting and planning. And to what end? why for the erection of a Third Hebrew Temple on Jerusalem's ancient Temple Mount now legally in the hands of the Vatican since September, 1993—from which golden-garnished, wonder of the world the last and final pope of Rome, murdered and risen from the dead to be The Antichrist/Man-Beast, will rule the world for 42 months!
SMOM King Juan Carlos Order of the GarterAnd it is this damnable and wicked Shimon Peres, now a member of a British Knighthood, who has administered the Kingdom of Jerusalem for the benefit of the Pope of Rome. During Peres' "ministry" he has been overseen by the British Crown's "Order of the Garter," which Order includes the "King of Jerusalem." That man is none other than Jesuit-trained and directed, Knight of Malta King Juan Carlos of Spain.

The Ilkhanate, also spelled Il-khanate (Persian: ایلخانان, Ilkhanan; Mongolian: Хүлэгийн улс, Hulagu-yn Ulus), was a breakaway state of the Mongol Empire, which was ruled by the Mongol House of Hulagu. It was established in the 13th century and was based primarily in Persia as well as neighboring territories, such as present-day Azerbaijan, and the central and eastern parts of present-day Turkey. The Ilkhanate was based, originally, on Genghis Khan's campaigns in the Khwarazmian Empire in 1219--1224, and was founded by Genghis's grandson, Hulagu Khan. In its fullest extent, the state expanded into territories which today comprise most of Iran, Iraq, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, western Afghanistan and southwestern Pakistan. The Ilkhanate initially embraced many religions, but was particularly sympathetic to Buddhism and Christianity.[citation needed] Later Ilkhanate rulers, beginning with Ghazan in 1295, embraced Islam.Capital Maragha

Sections of Syria were held by French, English, Italian and German overlords between 1098 and 1189 AD during the Crusades and were known collectively as the Crusader states among which the primary one in Syria was the Principality of Antioch. The coastal mountainous region was also occupied in part by the Nizari Ismailis, the so-called Assassins, who had intermittent confrontations and truces with the Crusader States. Later in history when "the Nizaris faced renewed Frankish hostilities, they received timely assistance from the Ayyubids."
After a century of Seljuk rule, Syria was largely conquered (1175–1185) by the Kurdish warlord Saladin, founder of the Ayyubid dynasty of Egypt. Aleppo fell to the Mongols of Hulegu in January 1260, and Damascus in March, but then Hulegu was forced to break off his attack to return to China to deal with a succession dispute.
A few months later, the Mamluks arrived with an army from Egypt and defeated the Mongols in the Battle of Ain Jalut in Galilee. The Mamluk leader, Baibars, made Damascus a provincial capital. When he died, power was taken by Qalawun. In the meantime, an emir named Sunqur al-Ashqar had tried to declare himself ruler of Damascus, but he was defeated by Qalawun on 21 June 1280, and fled to northern Syria. Al-Ashqar, who had married a Mongol woman, appealed for help from the Mongols. The Mongols of the Ilkhanate took the city, but Qalawun persuaded Al-Ashqar to join him, and they fought against the Mongols on 29 October 1281, in the Second Battle of Homs, which was won by the Mamluks.
In 1400, the Muslim Turco-Mongol conqueror Timur Lenk (Tamurlane) invaded Syria, sacked Aleppo and captured Damascus after defeating the Mamluk army. The city's inhabitants were massacred, except for the artisans, who were deported to Samarkand Timur-Lenk also conducted specific massacres of the Aramean and Assyrian Christian populations, greatly reducing their numbers. By the end of the 15th century, the discovery of a sea route from Europe to the Far East ended the need for an overland trade route through Syria.

Anthony T. Quickel (MA Candidate, Dept. of Arab and Islamic Civilizations, The American University in Cairo) presents on March 21, 2015 a paper entitled, "From Farm to Fork: Transformations in the Food Economy of Late Mamluk Cairo" at the Annual History Seminar of the Department of Arab and Islamic Civilizations of the American University in Cairo.
Abstract: This paper seeks to understand the effects of demographic, economic, and geographic changes in Cairo’s food economy during the fifteenth century. Current research indicates that this period was categorized by price inflation and frequent famines, being part of a larger economic system in flux. Generally, these price crises and periods of dearth have been treated as symptoms of a larger problem of bad economic planning on the part of successive Mamluk regimes. Upon closer examination of the various factors at play during the later fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, several important understudied factors also come to light – with the effects of the plague on the labor-intensive agricultural sector being foremost among them. The transformations of the food economy, however, were not relegated to issues of supply. The transportation, storage, and vending of food products also underwent changes in the fifteenth century. By studying the orientation of Cairo’s food markets in the period, it is clear that the market places were integral indicators of various socio-economic conditions. Changes in the market system, therefore, often represented major changes in other aspects of Cairo’s overall economic situation. One particularly important reorientation was a consequence of the decline of al-Maqs and the rise of Bulaq as Cairo’s main port. With regards to this shift in shipping and also an overall decline in population as a result of recurring plagues, Cairo’s food markets shifted and responded to a new geographic orientation and demographic reality. By examining these transformations in Cairo’s food distribution alongside various issues connected to Egypt’s declining agricultural production and the city’s food supply, a clear portrait of a food economy from farm to fork may be illuminated. In doing so, the shifts in the Egyptian food economy may be understood as part of a larger economic system in flux.

It was the first of five unrelated dynasties to rule India's Delhi Sultanate from 1206 to 1290. Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye), officially the Republic of Turkey (About this sound Türkiye Cumhuriyeti , is a contiguous transcontinental country, located mostly on Anatolia in Western Asia and on East Thrace in Southeastern Europe. Turkey is bordered by eight countries: Bulgaria to the northwest; Greece to the west; Georgia to the northeast; Armenia, Iran and the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan to the east; and Iraq and Syria to the southeast. The Mediterranean Sea is to the south; the Aegean Sea is to the west; and the Black Sea is to the north. The Sea of Marmara, the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles (which together form the Turkish Straits) demarcate the boundary between Thrace and Anatolia; they also separate Europe and Asia. Turkey's location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia makes it a country of significant geostrategic importance.
The area now encompassing present-day Turkey has been inhabited since the Paleolithic Age, including various Ancient Anatolian civilizations and Thracian peoples. After Alexander the Great's conquest, the area was Hellenized, which continued with the Roman rule and the transition into the Byzantine Empire. The Seljuk Turks began migrating into the area in the 11th century, starting the process of Turkification, which was greatly accelerated by the Seljuk victory over the Byzantines at the Battle of Manzikert in 1071. The Seljuk Sultanate of Rûm ruled Anatolia until the Mongol invasion in 1243, upon which it disintegrated into several small Turkish beyliks.
Turkey was a major power in Europe during the early modern period and starting from the late 13th century, the Ottoman beylik united Anatolia and created an empire encompassing much of Southeastern Europe, Western Asia and North Africa. After the Ottoman Empire collapsed following its defeat in World War I, parts of it were occupied by the victorious Allies. The Turkish War of Independence, initiated by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his colleagues, resulted in the establishment of the modern Republic of Turkey in 1923, with Atatürk as its first president.
Turkey is a democratic, secular, unitary, constitutional republic with a diverse cultural heritage. The country's official language is Turkish, a Turkic language spoken natively by approximately 85% of the population. Turks constitute 70% to 75% of the population. Minorities include Kurds (18%) and others (7--12%). The vast majority of the population is Muslim. Turkey is a member of the Council of Europe, NATO, OECD, OSCE and the G-20 major economies. Turkey began full membership negotiations with the European Union in 2005, having been an associate member of the European Economic Community since 1963 and having joined the EU Customs Union in 1995. Turkey is also a member of the Turkic Council, Joint Administration of Turkic Arts and Culture, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Economic Cooperation Organisation. Turkey's growing economy and diplomatic initiatives have led to its recognition as a regional power.
The name of Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye) can be divided into two components: the ethnonym Türk and the abstract suffix --iye meaning "owner", "land of" or "related to" (originally derived from the Greek and Latin suffixes --ia in Tourkia (Τουρκία) and Turchia; and later from the corresponding Arabic suffix --iyya in Turkiyya (تركيا).) The first recorded use of the term "Türk" or "Türük" as an autonym is contained in the Old Turkic inscriptions of the Göktürks (Celestial Turks) of Central Asia (c. 8th century).
The English name Turkey first appeared in the late 14th century, and is derived from Medieval Latin Turchia.
The Greek cognate of this name, Tourkia (Greek: Τουρκία) was used by the Byzantine emperor and scholar Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus in his book De Administrando Imperio, though in his use, "Turks" always referred to Magyars.
Similarly, the medieval Khazar Empire, a Turkic state on the northern shores of the Black and Caspian seas, was referred to as Tourkia (Land of the Turks) in Byzantine sources. However, the Byzantines later began using this name to define the Seljuk-controlled parts of Anatolia in the centuries that followed the Battle of Manzikert in 1071.
The Arabic cognate Turkiyya (Arabic: تركيا) in the form Dawla al-Turkiyya (State of the Turks) was historically used as an official name for the medieval Mamluk Sultanate which covered Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Hejaz and Cyrenaica.
The Ottoman Empire was commonly referred to as Turkey or the Turkish Empire among its contemporaries.
