"The House on Friday rejected a resolution to approve the Iran nuclear deal, with the vote underscoring how controversial the accord has been with President Obama’s own party.
While most Democrats voted to approve the nuclear bargain, 25 voted against it, creating a wedge that Republicans hope to use to their advantage in the 2016 elections.
Every Republican voted against the resolution, with the exception of libertarian Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), who voted "present." The tally was 162-269.”*

"In a bold move by Senators on the Foreign Relations Committee it seems that there is a deal in place in the Senate that would allow a vote in favor of giving Congress the ability to approve or kill the Nuclear Deal with Iran that would limit the Middle Eastern country's ability to manufacture enriched materials for the purpose of creating a nuclear weapon. The move is being spear headed by Republican Tennessee Senator Bob Corker, the panel's chairman, who claims that this allows the process of government to maintain its integrity.
If approved the bill would cripple the Obama Administration from lifting sanctions on Iran without the express approval of Congress."

Early 2001 was the beginning of emergence of a blogging culture, which rapidly developed. the Iranian government, which had strict controls in place for the print media and had shut down as many as 100 print newspapers. Iran has been listed consistently as among the bottom countries in violation of freedom of the press by Reporters without Borders. Yet the internet provided a new means for widespread readership which was,up until 2004, was mostly unregulated, providing an outlet for mostly youth to express themselves freely. In 2009, due to the contentious nature of the presidential elections, and the rise of the green party movement, internet crackdowns have become far more strict. Nonetheless, as of 2009, according to the CIA world factbook, 8.214 million internet users in Iran, ranked 35th in the world. Blogs range from updates on art and critiquing movies, to following injustices of political prisoners. Diasporic farsi and Iranian blogs have also become a trend as a means to be part of an international online community. Blogs may be used as a virtual means of social protest without assembly, such as when thousands of bloggers renamed their blogs Akbar Ganji for a week in 2005, in support of the arrested critic of the regime. Hossien Derakhshan, the unofficial “godfather” of the blogosphere, set his up in Canada in September 2001. He was later arrested. In 2011, Iranian Authorities have executed and imprisoned more journalists and bloggers than any other countries, more than 600 people in one year .

Jon Stewart (born Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz; November 28, 1962) is an American political satirist, writer, television host, actor, media critic and stand-up comedian. He is widely known as host of The Daily Show, a satirical news program that airs on Comedy Central.
Stewart started as a stand-up comedian, but branched into television as host of Short Attention Span Theater for Comedy Central. He went on to host his own show on MTV, called The Jon Stewart Show, and then hosted another show on MTV called You Wrote It, You Watch It. He has also had several film roles as an actor. Stewart became the host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central in early 1999. He is also a writer and co-executive-producer of the show. After Stewart joined, The Daily Show steadily gained popularity and critical acclaim, resulting in his sixteen Emmy Awards.
Stewart has gained acclaim as an acerbic, satirical critic of personality-driven media shows, in particular those of the US media networks such as CNN, Fox News Channel, and MSNBC. Critics say Stewart benefits from a double standard: he critiques other news shows from the safe, removed position of his "fake news" desk. Stewart agrees, saying that neither his show nor his channel purports to be anything other than satire and comedy. In spite of its self-professed entertainment mandate, The Daily Show has been nominated for news and journalism awards. Stewart hosted the 78th and 80th Academy Awards. He is the co-author of America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction, which was one of the best-selling books in the U.S. in 2004 and Earth (The Book): A Visitor's Guide to the Human Race released in 2010.

Nuclear negotiations have finally been outlined by Iran and the United States and its allies. President Barack Obama went as far as to say 'if Iran cheats, the world will know'. Iran has agreed not to stockpile weapons grade nuclear materials that could be used to make nuclear weapons and in exchange the U.S. and others have agreed to lift sanctions. Secretary of State John Kerry went on to add that the international community would need proof from Iran that it would uphold its end of the deal or sanctions would not be lifted. While nothing is official until the deal is signed the framework is a major step forward in the nuclear talks.
The final draft of the deal is due with a deadline of June 30th."

For the past five years, the PeaceTech Lab at the U.S. Institute of Peace and George Washington University have partnered on the Blogs & Bullets initiative, a series of studies examining the role of social and digital media in global political protest movements. The resulting research program has produced three widely-cited Peaceworks reports looking at the Iranian Green Revolution, the early months of the Arab Spring protests, and the Syrian crisis.
On September 29, 2015 our panel examined a new report that looks at the relatively understudied transitional phases following those often euphoric moments of protest. The report explored the ways social media contributes to political and social polarization in transitional periods, and how such dangerous trends might be overcome to give transitions a greater chance of success.
The event featured a summary of the report’s major findings, two panel discussions, and a keynote address by Michael Posner, the former assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights, and labor. The first panel discussed Egypt, and the second looked at other countries attempting to transition from protest to peaceful, stable, and functional democracies.
