Dhabīḥah (or Zabiha, Arabic: ذَبِيْحَة ḏabīḥah IPA: [ðæˈbiːħɐ], "slaughter(noun)") is, in Islamic law, the prescribed method of ritual slaughter of all animals excluding camels, locusts, fish and most sea-life. This method of slaughtering animals consists of a swift, deep incision with a sharp knife on the neck, cutting the jugular veins and carotid arteries of both sides but leaving the spinal cord intact. It must be done with respect and compassion; avoiding as much as possible any animal pain or discomfort. The precise details of the slaughtering method arise from Islamic tradition educated by the prophetMuhammad, rather than direct Quranic mandate. It is used to comply with the conditions stated in the Qur'an:
The slaughtering process referred to as Ḏabīḥah, is regulated by a set of rules that assure health of the animal to be slaughtered and conformance to Islamic religious law, which is derived from the Qur'an and Hadith.
The following verses of the Qur'an mention the items which are forbidden to be eaten in Islam, however other have cited many other reasons that discourage the consumption of blood, pork, carrion.

In Islam, the Qur'an strongly enjoins Muslims to treat animals with compassion and not to abuse them. All creatures are believed to praise God, even if this praise is not expressed in human language.
The Qur'an explicitly allows the eating of the meat of certain halal (lawful) animals.. Although some Sufis have practiced vegetarianism, there has been no serious discourse on the possibility of vegetarian interpretations. Certain animals can be eaten under the condition that they are slaughtered in a specified way, which has been criticised by animal rights activists. Prohibitions include swine, carrion, and animals dhabihah (ritual slaughter)

Thousands of Muslims gathered in the breaking dawn to celebrate Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, at Moscow's Memorial Mosque on Poklonnaya Gora (Worshipper's Hill), Saturday.
During the festival, sheep and cows are slaughtered through the tradition of Dhabihah, which is the prescribed method of slaughter in Islamic law. This consists of using a sharp blade to swiftly cut the throat of the animal. Yet, this year, the sacrificial sheep will be slaughtered on farms and slaughter houses in different villages of the Moscow region, as Moscow has banned sheep slaughter inside the city.
Eid al-Adha is the feast of sacrifice, honouring the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his promised son Ismail as an act of submission to Allah's command. Before Ibrahim could do as been told, Allah intervened and provided him with a lamb to sacrifice instead.

The word is related to the Hebrew qorbān "offering" and Syriac qurbānā "sacrifice", etymologised through the cognate Arabic triliteral as "a way or means of approaching someone" or "nearness".[1] In Shariah Udhiyya would refer to the sacrifice of a specific animal, offered by a specific person, on specific days to seek Allah's pleasure and reward. The word qurban appears thrice in the Quran and in once in Sura Al-Ma'ida in reference to animal sacrifice. In the other two places the Quran speaks of sacrifice in the general sense, referring to any act which may bring one closer to Allah. Other appropriate terms are Dhabihah, Udhiyah and Nahar. A fifth term Zabah refers to normal Islamic slaughter outside the days of Udhiyah.

“what is qurbani”
Qurbān (Arabic: قربان) (or أضحية Udhiyyah as referred to in Islamic Law) is usually a word used for the sacrifice of a livestock animal during Eid-ul-Adha. The word is related to the Hebrew qorbān "offering" and Syriac qurbānā "sacrifice", etymologised through the cognate Arabic triliteral as "a way or means of approaching someone" or "nearness". Other appropriate terms are Dhabihah and Nahar. A fourth term Zabah refers to normal Islamic slaughter outside the days of Udhiyah.
Eid al-Adha
Eid al-Adha (Arabic: عيد الأضحى ʿīd al-aḍḥā [ʕiːd ælˈʔɑdˤħæ] meaning "Festival of the sacrifice"), also called the Feast of the Sacrifice (Turkish: Kurban Bayramı; Bosnian: Kurban Bajram; Persian: عید قربان, Eid-e qorban), the "Major Festival", the "Greater Eid", Baqr'Eid (Urdu: بقر عید), or Tabaski (West Africa), is the second of two religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide each year. It honors the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his promised son, Ishmael (Ismail)a, as an act of submission to God's command, before God then intervened to provide Abraham with a lamb to sacrifice instead. The meat from the sacrificed animal is preferred to be divided into three parts. The family retains one third of the share; another third is given to relatives, friends and neighbors; and the remaining third is given to the poor and needy.
In the lunar-based Islamic calendar, Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah and lasts for three days. In the international (Gregorian) calendar, the dates vary from year to year, drifting approximately 11 days earlier each year.
Eid al-Adha is the latter of the two Eid holidays, the former being Eid al-Fitr. The basis for the observance comes from the 196th ayah (verse) of Al-Baqara, the second sura of the Quran. The word "Eid" appears once in Al-Ma'ida, the fifth sura of the Quran, with the meaning "solemn festival".
Like Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha begins with a Sunnah prayer of two rakats followed by a sermon (khutbah). Eid al-Adha celebrations start after the descent of the Hujjaj, the pilgrims performing the Hajj, from Mount Arafat, a hill east of Mecca. Eid sacrifice may take place until sunset on the 13th day of Dhu al-Hijjah. The days of Eid have been singled out in the Hadith as "days of remembrance". The takbir (days) of Tashriq are from the Fajr prayer of the 9th of Dhu al-Hijjah up to the Asr prayer of the 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah (5 days and 4 nights). This equals 23 prayers: 5 on the 9th–12th, which equals 20, and 3 on the 13th.

Prohibitions include swine, carrion, and animals dhabihah (ritual slaughter) in the name of someone other than God. The Qur'an also states "eat of that over which the name of God (Arabic: الله Allāh), hath been mentioned". Animals frowned upon to keep are dogs as they are unclean. Other animals which are strongly prohibited are unclean animals (napak) such as pigs, guinea pigs, hamsters any others who unable to clean or who do reproduce their litter.
